Tamarindo is the main town on this stretch of Guanacaste coast: surf schools, beachfront restaurants, shops and nightlife concentrated near Tamarindo Beach. The break suits beginners and intermediates; sunsets and a social scene are part of the package.
It is busier and more built-up than Langosta or Grande. Good when you want to walk to dinner, rent boards, and not need a car for every meal. Day trips run to other Guanacaste beaches; Liberia (LIR) is the usual airport.
Choose Tamarindo for convenience and energy. Choose Playa Langosta next door if you want quieter nights with town still close.
