Playa Mansita offers calm water at low tide, along with opportunities for snorkeling, fishing, and exploring tide pools. The beach is also home to the JW Marriott, where guests can walk from the beach to enjoy the hotel’s restaurants and bars.
Playa Langosta
Large trees extend to the shoreline at Playa Langosta, creating an ideal setting for a full day at the beach. Bring a cooler and packed lunch, then relax in one of the beach palapas.
Playa Bonita
Playa Bonita is an exclusive beach within the gated community where Casa Miramar is located. It is just steps from the house, directly in front of the pool.
Beach Club
The Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club is located on the white sands of Playa Avellanas. It features:

- Poolside loungers.
- Tiki gym bar.
- Soccer and volleyball courts.
Beach Club access costs $5 per person per day for guests over 10 years of age. The fee is payable once per day.
The Beach Club closes annually in October for maintenance and improvements. Please inquire about availability if you are visiting during that month.
JW Marriott Hotel
Hacienda Pinilla is home to the JW Marriott hotel. Guests at Casa Miramar can access the hotel’s restaurants and review menus and information through the property’s digital guide.
A day pass may also be purchased for access to JW Marriott services and its pool, which is the largest pool in Central America.
Golf Course
Designed by Mike Young, the par-72 golf course can be played at up to 7,200 yards. It follows the natural landscape of Hacienda Pinilla, winding through tropical forest along the Pacific coast with views of the blue water.
Tennis and Pickleball
Hacienda Pinilla has two hard-court tennis courts with an on-site instructor. Tennis and pickleball clinics, lessons, and court rentals are available. Please check prices with your host.
Horseback Riding
Sixteen kilometers of scenic trails wind through the dry forest and lead to the white sands of Playa Langosta. Guided horseback tours are available and can be customized for groups, with rides lasting from 30 minutes to two hours.
Routes pass through the forest, along secluded beaches, and across river mouths within the ranch.
Mountain Bike Trails
Hacienda Pinilla offers trails for both beginners and experienced riders:
- Professional trails: 30 kilometers throughout the ranch.
- Amateur trails: 15 kilometers.
The trails are also suitable for walking and exploring the property’s 4,500 acres.
Surfing
Hacienda Pinilla is an excellent base for a surfing trip. Playa Avellanas offers six waves, while private access is available to Playa Langosta and other nearby beaches.

Community Rules
Casa Miramar is located in a private gated community with many full-time residents and families. There is a strict no-noise policy outdoors between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
The property is not suitable for parties or events. Guests are expected to respect the neighbors and community rules. Excessive noise is not permitted, and guests who violate these rules may be asked to leave without a refund.
Construction Notice
Hacienda Pinilla, like the rest of Costa Rica’s coast, is experiencing significant growth. Ongoing construction work may take place nearby and could cause some noise.
Nightly rates have been significantly discounted to compensate for this potential inconvenience.

Our stay was overall wonderful and we are already making plans to rebook! No major complaints but just a couple things to note. The construction is literally a house being built next door and they start early and work the weekend. It was loud and it woke us up a couple of mornings but it wasn’t unbearable. We also had toddlers that woke up early so it wasn’t a big deal. The concierge was great the closer we got to the trip. I felt the responses were unreliable and not timely until we were about 2 weeks away from our trip. It made it hard to plan and book things ahead of time. Once we hit that 2 week mark and while we were actually there, concierge was amazing! They quickly responded and provided anything we needed. Like I said, we are already making plans to rebook so I wouldn’t let either of these things deter you from booking!

The home is exactly as pictured—beautiful, well-kept, and very close to the beach (just note the beach itself is quite rocky). The neighborhood felt very safe and peaceful, which we really appreciated. One thing to be aware of is the layout: the two queen bedrooms are connected to the main house by a shared wall but have separate private entrances from the pool area. The main downside during our stay (March) was significant construction right next door. It was very loud and disruptive, happening daily—even on Sunday. The host communicated that the neighboring property is not part of the gated community, so they don’t have control over the construction schedule. They were responsive and did provide a partial refund, which we appreciated. If it weren’t for the construction, this place would be absolutely amazing.

A beautiful home for a week - perfect set up for me, Grandma, two kids, spouses and grandkids - every family had their own private space with great, spacious bathrooms, pool was wonderful, well stocked kitchen and handy laundry. Private gated community was nice, and super close to great surfing and swimming beaches, restaurants, nature areas. Monkeys in the tree out side the house! Paulina was a wonderful concierge, very responsive and helpful in planning activities!!

Breathtaking home steps from the water. Relaxing and quiet (even with the construction next door). Great for a big family group. The kitchen has everything you can think. The host, Paulina, was always communicative and responsive to all our needs/questions. The best part is this is a gated community and felt safe and no one on the beach trying to sell you anything.

We had an absolutely spectacular stay at this beach house! 🌊✨ Just a short walking distance to the ocean, it was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. The pool was kept at an ideal temperature, and we loved that the house runs on solar panels — a great touch of sustainability. Inside, everything exceeded our expectations: the living room was spacious and comfortable, the beds were incredibly cozy, and the kitchen had everything we needed for family meals. The bathrooms were pure luxury, and every single detail in the house worked perfectly. This place is an absolute dream. One of the BEST beach Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at — truly special. The house is stunning, super spacious, and just steps from the beach.
