Unique Features
Casa de la Reina is owned by a veterinarian and zoologist couple who envisioned a sanctuary where humans and wildlife coexist peacefully. Guest Access and Safety
- Guests must be aged 12 or older.

- One car can be parked in the gated parking area, which is monitored by 24-hour security cameras and equipped with motion-activated lighting.

Important Notes
- Costa Rica applies a 13% value-added tax (VAT), which is included in the price of your stay.
- The minimum age for children is 12 years.
- Due to Costa Rica’s microclimate, occasional seasonal rain and power outages caused by storms may occur. Transformers can be affected during the rainy season, and wildlife may sometimes come into contact with power lines. If a power outage happens, please notify the hosts immediately so they can report it and provide updates on restoration times.
- A welcome book is available in the villa with detailed information about the property, appliances, internet access, emergency contacts, and numerous recommendations for tours, beaches, dining, shopping, and local attractions including Manuel Antonio National Park.
- The tap water is safe to drink and among the most potable in Central America.
Energy Conservation
Costa Rica values energy conservation, and electricity costs are high. Guests are kindly asked to:
- Turn off air conditioning when leaving the villa.
- Close bedroom doors while the air conditioning is on to prevent cool air from escaping to other areas. (Note: rooms remain cool even if the air conditioning is turned off during the day.)
Additional Tips
- Shake out your shoes before wearing them, as the jungle environment may attract small wildlife.
- Do not feed the monkeys; it is illegal and can cause problems.
- Please communicate any issues or requests during your stay rather than waiting until after checkout to provide feedback. The hosts appreciate your input and strive to improve your experience.
Thank you for choosing Casa de la Reina. We look forward to hosting you!

This property is beautiful! There is lots of wildlife to see and enjoy. The house is private yet easy to get to every thing you want to do. It is very clean and was comfortable for all five of us. Helena (property concierge) provides lots of local recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Even booking excursions for us as needed. Helena was available for any questions or concerns and was very responsive. She is absolutely amazing! 🤩 We would love to come back and stay at this little piece of heaven!

This house by far was the best part of our trip. There was so much wildlife, including monkeys, macaws , iguanas, sloths, and much more! From the minute you step into this home the whole world just disappears. Despite the home feeling incredibly private, there was tons to do in the nearby area including beautiful beaches (Playa Espadilla was stunning and easy to access) , great food (Mercadito Gastronómico was 10/10), and Manuel Antonio National Park which is a must see! The home had everything you would need, including chairs, umbrellas towels, cookware, and appliances and much more. We can’t wait to come back!

Great! comfortable home in a quiet, peaceful location. Very close to the beach. Short drive to multiple restaurants and shopping. Large families of monkeys visit the property in the early morning hours. Several businesses offer day passes with beach access very near the home.

House is just like the pictures. It was clean and very nice. Helena communicated well and met us there (she is lovely!). The pictures with arrows to navigate from the main road to the house were helpful. The road getting in and out is a little tricky, but doable. The monkeys on the roof in the early mornings (several of them moms with babies on their backs) were a delightful surprise! Great location close to activities and restaurants. The backyard is just incredible!! We were excited for our sighting of Stumpy (the resident iguana). Bonus points for composting and for all the eco-friendly touches. My only negative is that the living room/kitchen can get warm, as they aren’t air conditioned (which I must have missed when booking). There are 2 fans that do a good job of moving air, but it still could get a little stuffy. The a/c and ceiling fans in the bedrooms worked perfectly. Well thought out, beautiful house that we wished we could have stayed for a few more days in!

What an incredible property to stay at! It was everything in the description and more! Loved seeing all the wildlife right outside our back porch. There was nothing like waking up to the sound of the monkeys running across the roof. Our host was responsive, attentive, and super helpful with lots of recommendations.

La Casa de la Reina was an absolute perfect place to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. Teya and her concierge, Helena (who will ensure everything is perfect) went above and beyond to make this trip memorable for my mom. Coordinating excursions, personal chef, massage....and communicating to others the reason for our trip and needs. The house is perfect is so many ways--centralized location, infinity pool, gorgeous grounds and SO MANY MONKEYS! You will not be disappointed with this house and team!
