Laura's villa is absolutely fabulous. The pictures are 100% accurate and easily accommodated our group of 6. Rene was our local contact and I cannot speak more highly of him. The detail provided, arranging our transport to and from the villa, the instant replies to any questions and the proactive messages with all information we could have needed is by far some of the best communication I've received staying at any air bnb. A great tip, and in all honesty an absolute must, is renting a golf cart. While we did tackle the hill on occasions, it is not something you want to be doing regularly in the heat. However, do not let the hill have you question if you should visit or not, you absolutely should, and we will be back to stay in the future! Thank you for your incredible hospitality Laura and Rene!

Laura and Rene, the house manager were amazing to work with! Very responsive and very helpful and quick to respond! We have never had a house manager drop by with fresh baking to sample! The house was clean and a very nice space for our family. This had to be one of the best homes we have rented on holidays as they provided the drinking water, had awesome frying pans to cook eggs for breakfast, and had a very organized kitchen. Lots of rental homes have such poor cooking pots and pans to use. Everything was so perfect! Absolutely lovely big bedrooms with comfy beds! The bathrooms were super with such nice large tile showers! I would highly recommend this beautiful home to rent! The large decks made staying there a pleasure!

Laura’s house is gorgeous , and very peaceful. If you like nature , adventure and being outside of the noice and action you will love it . The master bedroom and main living space are stunning . René was an incredible house manager , so sweet and responsive ! He really made our stay better . There are two things I would mention , that as an Airbnb user I would like to know myself : 1) the drive up is a bit crazy, skip the golf cart and get a better 4x4 . If you go to the town to grab one the price is much cheaper. 2) keep all valuables and cash in the safes . Lock all doors and windows . We were robbed , but they only took our cash — no passports , jewelry or computers etc . Just cash , and it happened when we were not at home . The area is known for petty theft . René and Laura secured the house by adding bolt locks on ground floor sliding doors, we felt very safe afterwards . We were unlucky , but this incident world not deter me from renting here again ! Great place and hosts !

We truly enjoyed our 10 day stay at Casa Ocaso. Lovely large home perched high in the north end (quiet part of Sayulita) surrounded by jungle and birds of all sorts. Many steep hills, you’ll need one of those 4x4 carts for access into town, all part of the adventure. Rene was a great host and responded to everything we needed. House was clean, fully stocked kitchen, laundry room. Beautiful landscape surrounding the house. Lovely ocean breezes. A memorable trip ❤️ thank you

The home is beautiful and hits our “Big 4” for ‘critical’ criteria: comfortable beds, clean and well appointed bathrooms, excellent kitchen and terrific views and pool. Spacious, well equipped, and secluded / relatively quiet, plus lovely jungle atmosphere and wild birds, etc. A perfect place to “step off the ride” and just get back to yourself. Laura was an excellent ‘remote host’, but the kicker was having Rene, her locally-based host who took great care of us while we were there. Very responsive, friendly and helpful — thanks Laura and Rene! Highly recommend renting a golf cart, Razor (we loved our Razor) or car as an add-on, as the hills up from town are steep and a ‘grind’ in the heat, but if you’re fit and don’t mind some hiking / hill-climbing, it’s only 15-20 min walk down to town, and (I budgeted) 30-40 mins back up, so I could pace myself. :) Great exercise for those that want it; otherwise, you’ll want one of those vehicles.

Great home in a quiet location up a hill. The home was everything I hoped for and pool really good for family. I recommend you get a golf cart to go to and from town, the hill would be a strenuous walk, even for a very fit indevidual. Of particular note was the excelent service and almost immediate friendly response from Rene the manager in Sayulita when ever i had a question

Thank you for allowing us to stay at this wonderful place. Directions given were so clear that we arrived at night time and had no problems. Rene and Laura were very quick to respond to any concerns/questions we had. The place was very clean to include the pool. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. The place is spacious with the rooms on different floors and not on top of each other. The kitchen had everything you need to make meals there with a wonderful dining room table. The location was very quiet in which you could listen to the birds and the sounds of the waves from the beach.

5 stars… 11 out of 10! We cannot say enough positive things about our stay and experience. The home and property are absolutely stunning, pictures do not do it justice. Before you even enter, the beautiful, massive front door lets you know something special awaits. From the moment we opened the door, we were taken aback by the stunning view and aesthetic of the home. Every detail is thought of and the amenities are perfect. We felt like we had our own boutique resort without having to leave the property. It was such a great having the grill and kitchen so we could cook our own meals. One of the most surprising things was being able to actually hear the ocean waves from the pool and primary bedroom. Rene was incredibly helpful from the moment we booked through to checkout. From arranging airport transfer and golf cart to a few local recos, it helped make our trip even more relaxing. We can’t wait to come back and bring family and friends to experience this gem. Highly recommend!

Hola Lauren, We're so happy you appreciated the beauty of our home and the Sayulita coast. We also love hearing the waves from the pool and master. Thanks for giving a shoutout to our hardworking property manager, René. We also think he's the best. We can't wait to host you, your family, and friends again at Casa Ocaso! When we first started up the hill to the house, we chuckled, thankful we hadn’t rented a full-sized car for the week. Other guests weren’t exaggerating—it’s a steep climb. I can’t imagine doing it with little kids daily without the use of a golf cart. The house is spacious: three bedrooms on separate levels and insane views. The levels are spread out due to the steep hillside into which the home is built. If you’re traveling with small kids, know they may be three stories below you. Also, the pool deck, where we spent most of our time, was great with our older kids, but with younger ones, the railing height and pool would’ve made me a little nervous. We had a few animal visitors on the main deck—specifically a large family of coati, one even coming by for a dip in the pool one morning. Otherwise, the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living area were spacious, modern, and clean, and we enjoyed our trip. Great spot. Make sure to hit the grocery stores on your way into town!
Host Response
Hola Mark, I'm so glad you and your family had a great trip. It's so funny that one of the coatís went for a swim in the pool. 😅 They're so cute. Please come back and say "hi" to them anytime. Saludos, Laura

Things to note-The master bedroom is on the top floor separated by the kitchen and living space. The other two bedrooms are down 2 levels which is hard when you have kids. PROS: Beautiful view and handcrafted details. The pictures don’t even do it justice, the front door, traditional ceilings and indoor/outdoor living are amazing. It has a well stocked kitchen. The master bathroom shower overlooks the ocean at sunset and is open air- magical. Rene the property manager was quick to respond and easy to communicate with. CONS: The reason we booked this house was for the heated pool and jacuzzi. Our entire stay we were not able to heat the pool because it was broken which made it unusable as it was in the low 70s. The jacuzzi is in a very awkward location by a road. The air conditioning on the main level was broken when we arrived was then ‘fixed’ but after 2 days it started leaking all over the couch and TV. Broke the TV and couch was wet. Overall our stay was below expectations
Host Response
Good afternoon Stephanie, Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. We're so glad you appreciated the beautiful views, handcrafted details, and architecture at CasaOcaso. We strive to provide a 5 star experience for our guests. We're sorry your stay didn't meet your expectations. As you mentioned in your review, our property manager René is quick to respond and easy to communicate with. When he got your message regarding the AC, he immediately sent a technician out to fix the problem. You then let René know it was working properly. While it did cause condensation to drip on the TV, the technician found the TV to be in perfect working order and it's currently in use. Regarding the pool heat, you requested that the pool be turned up "a few degrees to 82 degrees". René immediately came to the house and turned up the pool heat. After about a day, it became obvious that the temperature wasn't warming up. He let you know that in order to investigate the pool heater, it would have to be off. You agreed. It was determined to be a bad temperature sensor and the repair was made immediately. Because this repair took place several days into your 5 day stay, there just wasn't enough time it to heat a 13,000 gallon pool back up to your desired temperature. We feel bad about these malfunctions during your visit, but always strive to fix everything in as timely a manner as possible. We thank you for your visit and Best wishes, Laura

Gorgeous view, peaceful and elegant. Rene was very helpful and incredibly responsive. We felt at home and the kitchen was very well equipped compared to most airbnbs. The location requires a golf cart and they were so kind to help arrange that for us. Lovely stay and great hospitality.

Thank you for sharing your amazing place! This is a beautifully designed space with tasteful & thoughtful features and great flow to the outdoors. Close to town and all that offers within a quick golf cart ride but the house offers a private quiet space where we could retreat and fall asleep to ocean waves and awaken to birds . The decks and pool are lovely places to watch the sunset and take in the ocean view. The beds are so comfy with great linens and soft pillows. Decorated with local textiles. Cozy places to sit. Beautiful bathrooms- lots of fresh white towels and sparkling clean. A well equipped kitchen and a lovely dining area allowed us to cook our own meals and enjoy sunset drinks and morning smoothies in our own space. Appreciated the beach gear! Finally, a huge thanks to Rene who helped coordinate airport transport, golf carts etc and was incredibly responsive. Made the trip easy and smooth and so enjoyable- above and beyond just a place to stay!

The house was great for us! Having 3 bedrooms on separate floors was a big plus. The view out from the deck and the pool was awesome. We had a couple hiccups where the water got turned off on accident, but was quickly fixed.

Great house and amazing views! As it mentions the house is on a very steep hill, so it can be hard to access. As it was suggested we rented a golf cart through the property manager, we were not told until after we had already been given the golf cart that we were only allowed 4 people. There were a total of 5 of us which they knew (small women) and the guy who dropped on the golf cart and explained how to use etc., didn’t mentioned that. We were told we had to rent an second golf cart for another $70, if we had known that we would have looked into other options for renting a vehicle or staying somewhere else as the hills were very steep and only one of us felt comfortable driving so we did not have a second driver available. We returned the gold cart and rented a Polaris through SALES-RENTALS ADVENTURE Golf Cars, it only had one row of seats, 3 people fit and two other people sat in the trunk but it was very comfortable and much faster and felt safer than the gold cart, highly recommen
Host Response
Hola Gabby, Thanks for the great review and feedback regarding golf cart rental. We'll make sure that the golf cart rental company clarifies the amount of occupants that can safely ride a cart. They usually go over that and it's an important point. We're really glad you enjoyed the house and views. Thanks Laura

We had a great stay at Laura's house! The pictures don't do it justice. Rene, the house manager, was super responsive and helpful booking transportation, renting a golf cart, and making restaurant/activity recommendations. The location is great! Peaceful with amazing views. There are some serious hills to get to the house so a golf cart is a must. I'd highly recommend staying here!

Laura's place was perfect for our girls trip. The house had everything we needed. The master shower and pool are amazing. There is plenty of space for privacy as well as common spaces for hanging out. The house manager Rene went above and beyond to help us with a golf cart rental (highly recommend as the hill up to the house is long and steep) and our shuttles (even after a family emergency meant more/seperate shuttles). He was kind and patient throughout the whole process. I would certainly stay here again. (disclaimer - our entire group ended up getting sick as we are unsure if it was food vs water or a mixture of both, so be extra careful when you visit)

We had a beautiful stay at Lauras place. It looks as the pictures show and has a beautiful view. We felt safe, and relaxed. For us renting a gold cart was a necessity although we didn’t realize this until we were there. We were told it was up a very steep hill but it is multiple steep hills. If you are an avid walker it will be great but with luggage I can not see how walking would work, so be mindful of that. Renee arranged golf carts for us, sent clear instructions on the location and even arranged our transfer to our next location. We have been to Sayulita many times and very much enjoyed our stay here and would return. Thank you!

Laura’s home is incredible in every way, as was our stay in Sayulita. The unique design of the house is spectacular. The location amongst the trees and looking out across the ocean is stunning. The peace and tranquility is only broken by bird song. Many hours were spent in the infinity pool just breathing it all in. Laura and Rene (the house manager) were super responsive, really helpful and always friendly. The perfect home for a week away. Thank you Laura for allowing us to enjoy your incredible home. We had a wonderful time at Laura's. I would highly recommend this house if you are planning a trip to Sayulita. I stayed for a week with two friends and spent our time surfing, doing yoga, and of course eating tacos. The property is private and well taken care of. The large main room is great to spend time in and opens up to a great pool that overlooks the ocean. The north side of Sayulita is great and where a lot of new restaurants have opened. The hill up to the house is no joke, I recommend renting a golf cart, which is an adventure in itself.
Host Response
Hi Brett, Sounds like you really took advantage of all the fun activities available when you stay at Casa Ocaso. We're so glad you enjoyed the pool and lounging in the great room. The North side definitely has a lot more restaurants to offer these days, yet is still quiet when town gets crazy. You and your friends are welcome back for another Sayulita vacation any time you like!

One of the best experiences of the trip was walking into the home and seeing how beautiful it was. It is very well cared for, and Laura and the management team exceeded our expectations. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with our family! From the moment you enter through the massive front door, you’ll have to pause to take in the incredible architecture and design from there your eye will be drawn to the beautiful infinity pool and the incredible views. The location was quiet (nothing more relaxing than hearing the waves crashing) and safe. The house was furnished with everything you would need. The four levels offered plenty of room and privacy for multiple couples. Because the house is located high up on the hill, you will need to rent a golf cart for easy access to the downtown area. Also, be sure to have a shuttle arranged by the property manager Rene. We had a guest arrive later in the week and was not able to get up the hill via Uber. Rene was fabulous! He responded immediately to every request & question. Our family enjoyed everything about this home, it truly made our vacation one we will never forget!

We had a wonderful stay at Laura’s home. As people mentioned, it is up on a large hill, but with that comes peace and quiet which is a nice break from the craziness of downtown. This home is absolutely beautiful! It’s on top of a very steep hill so definitely recommend golf carts. Once you get down the hill there are lots of great restaurants and the beach is very close. Laura’s local recommendations were great. The north end of town is a little more quiet and laid back which was nice. We loved the view from the pool, the landscaping, and the beautiful decor and design of the home was stunning. The house was supplied with everything we needed during our stay and Laura was a very responsive host. We hope to come back and stay again next year!

Three friends and I stayed at Casa Ocaso for a week and absolutely loved it. The house is at the top of a steep hill to the north of Sayulita, which is much more private and secluded. Definitely not in the middle of the touristy town, which we loved. You enter the house on the 3rd floor which has the living room and open kitchen, laundry room, and a bathroom. The kitchen has an amazing 180 view of the ocean and palm trees. We saw many whales from the pool and patio. There are bedrooms on each of the two lower levels, with their own bathrooms. The bottom floor has access to the hot tub and looks out at the street. The second floor has a partial ocean view. The top floor above the kitchen is the master and has a stunning view. Rene is the local point of contact and was super helpful and responsive. Laura as well. No complaints! I definitely recommend getting a golf cart because the road is quite long and steep but if you're looking for a workout it's walkable. Thank you Laura and Rene!

If you want to feel like a movie-star, stay here!! This house is just spectacular. Beds are comfortable. House is spotless. Kitchen was fully equipped. The pool and hot tub are amazing. My family and I loved this house so much that we actually do plan to return! Most of all, Rene was an absolute dream to communicate with. Words of advice: take the shuttle service Rene recommends from the airport. A lot of vehicles are unable to make it up the hill to this house - so plan accordingly beforehand and you'll be good to go! I loved hiking up and down the hill to the house every day, but the rest of my family opted for a golf cart. It's much better with a golf cart if you're bringing up groceries/provisions.
Host Response
Hi Jennifer, I'm so glad you felt like a movie star at our house-I do too! The architecture and quality of building materials here in Mexico far exceeds what we have in our home in Colorado. A private pool and hot tub are so great to enjoy with family and friends. You and your family are definitely welcome back to Casa Ocaso any time you'd like another great vacation!

Casa Ocasa was a great house. With 4 levels there was plenty of room for everyone. With each bedroom on a separate floor everyone had their own space. We loved the heated pool and hot tub. The kitchen had new appliances and everything you would need to cook anything, even a nice BBQ grill. We really enjoyed the location it was private and the ocean views were amazing. Hearing the waves crash was an added plus. The hill was not an issue at all, it was an easy golf cart ride into town. You can be at a restaurant, connivence store or the North Beach in under 5 minutes. Rene the host was great, he made check in really easy for us. He also accommodated us with a late check out at no extra charge. Rene and Laura are top notch hosts, they are very responsive and quick to make great suggestions. We will definitely stay at Casa Ocasa next time we come back to Sayulita.

Hey Shane! We love hearing that you had a great time at Casa Ocaso. We also love the different levels for privacy and different views of the ocean and garden. From the big doors, beautiful wood cabinets, comfortable furniture, heated pool and incredible views - every detail to Laura’s home is jaw dropping. And while our stay was a last minute request, Laura responded immediately and was easy to communicate with throughout our trip. The walk up/down the hill is well worth the view but renting a golf cart made it extremely affordable for us to quickly travel around town. We had an amazing time and can’t thank you Laura enough for sharing her home to create so many great memories. We highly recommend staying here!

Laura's place is beautiful. It was perfect for 3 couples with tons of privacy. The views from the main living floor, deck and especially the top floor bedroom are just incredible. The house is roomy and spotless. It is one of the nicest places we have stayed, with top notch construction, lighting and beautiful stone and terrazzo floors and top notch appliances and details. The ceilings are magnificent. The tradeoff for the views is that the house is at the top of a very long, steep hill. Golf carts are essential. You cannot reasonably walk anywhere, and bikes are out of the question. The trip up and down the hill and to town is quick and easy in a golf cart, no problem to run to the store or an errand, just don't expect to walk anywhere from the house unless you plan to use it for a pretty extreme workout. You can leave surfboards wherever you rent and scoot up and down twice a day to surf, no problem. We would recommend the house.
Host Response
Hi Brooks! We're so glad you enjoyed our beautiful home. We also love the architecture, use of stone throughout, and brick boveda ceilings that really make it feel authentic to Mexico. We would love to welcome you back for more surf sessions in the future!

We had a wonderful stay at Laura's Villa. The Villa is stunningly beautiful, with a great view. The Villa is well appointed with everything you will need for your stay. All bedrooms are very private. We chose not to rent a golf cart, which was great for a workout multiple times a day, but next time would for sure arrange one. We hope to stay here again in the future!

The house is absolutely beautiful! Rene was quick to respond to any issues that came up and did his best to find a timely resolution. He also was great for local recommendations as well. The hot tub didn't work while we were there, although they did try to fix it twice. We know Sayulita well, so were aware of the steep walk up to the house and Rene helped with golf cart rental as well. Our group loved the hike up the hill, but if you have anyone that isn't up for the walk make sure you have the appropriate golf cart for them. That said, the location also makes it one of the quietest houses we have stayed in our many visits to Sayulita.
Host Response
Hi Nadine! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your patience and decent review in spite of the issues that occurred. Since you work in the business you probably know that issues never occur while you're staying there as a host, then they go and happen right when you have guests there trying to enjoy their stay. Since you've been so helpful and positive, we'd like to offer you a 30% discount on a future stay at Casa Ocaso. We'll definitely be ironing out the details! Thanks again, Laura Sanders

We were the first guests to stay in Casa Ocaso. They have a few bugs to work out, but overall, it’s a beautiful home. The property manager, René was responsive and extremely helpful before and during our stay. The location is on the top of a hill in a quiet neighborhood and is about 10-15 mins drive to Sayulita Plaza. If you don’t have a car, make sure you rent a golf cart that can handle the very steep, very rough roads.
