Wonderful Airbnb. The space is charming, clean, and well equipped. Excellent air conditioning in both rooms. The outdoor patio is beautiful, and overall the spot just feels like an oasis away. There's a long dirt path to get to the Airbnb, which gives it a nice tucked away feeling. The host was very responsive.and flexible, both over messaging as well as the liason on-site. Highly recommend!

The listings and photos really don't do this place justice. It was better than expected, clean, and peaceful. There's lots of newer landscaping that's not seen in the listing pictures which is really nice. I wouldn't think twice about staying here again. Tip for anyone thinking about staying and not familiar with Ometepe... I highly recommend your own transportation. Whether that be an ATV or moped/motorcycle.

Awesome stay! The farm is beautiful, and there are beautiful butterflies everywhere. Special shoutout to all the geckos around the house - there were very few bugs to deal with thanks to those guys :)

The Kingfisher house is a beautiful retreat on the lake. It is our favorite place to stay on the island.

AMAZING stay at the butterfly house! The property was beautiful, easy to find, and secluded. We felt safe and comfortable the entire stay. Safe drinking water was provided which was an excellent surprise. Dogs and cats around were always a plus :) would absolutely stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone who asks

My husband and I really enjoyed this stay. It’s a feel of luxury in the middle of a jungle isle. Hot showers, good working A/c for both rooms, kitchen to make meals, beach towels and ice cube trays!! Also no bugs inside, zip, zero, none! My husband and I appreciated these touches as we were staying in more modest accommodations before. Sitting outside to watch butterflies in the morning and monkeys in the evening was tranquilo. Although you could walk to town, would recommend an ATV or something to get back and forth, especially after dark. We would like to add a food recommendation, The Jungle Restaurant. Really enjoyed the repochetas.

Wonderful place to stay in Balguë! The garden is beautiful!

Hannah’s place has amazing views, lots of comfort and close to a lot of fun things on Ometepe. The farm animals and greenery created a lot of peace. The place has several dogs and two cats, all of which were super friendly and cuddly. Joshua and the other workers on the farm were very kind and gave us some great recommendations. We had homemade breakfast which was really yummy and varied each morning. The house is equipped with all the essentials and is extremely spacious! Truly a one of a kind magical space in Ometepe and one of my favorite airbnbs. The only con about the place was that the sofa bed underneath the couch was not very functional. It was difficult to pull out and the mattress was not super comfortable. The alternative for a 3rd person would be to sleep on the couch but definitely not as comfy as the beds. Overall I would recommend this amazing space.

From the moment we set foot on the property, it was like a peaceful, majestic slice of paradise! What a perfect place to disconnect from a fast-paced routine, and appreciate the beauty of God's creation. Joshua and the other staff were amazing hosts, and even the animals were warm and welcoming! We would highly recommend this property for a serene, joyful stay!

Finca Ometepe was everything I needed it to be and more. This homey accommodation situated right in the middle of a farm was an absolute dream. The pictures and description in the listing are accurate. The hosts are timely with communication and helpful for recommendations. The staff on the farm are all very friendly and welcoming. I felt so at peace here. Making friends with the animals. Picking fresh fruit to have with my breakfasts. Relaxing in the hammock as the sun sets. It doesn’t get any better than this. I recommend a scooter or ATV rental to get around Ometepe from here as taking taxis all the time can be pretty expensive. Roads are easy to navigate as instructions from maps & locals are very clear. A lot of food options within 10 mins of driving/riding from the finca. I enjoyed this lush, private piece of paradise and will tell everyone I know about it. 10/10. Book this stay. You will not regret it

The property was as described. Clean, beautiful, spacious. Only two rooms had ac but we made it work. Really enjoyed the netted back patio, always a good breeze back there.

One of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed in! Incredibly tranquil and serene place tucked away but close to Balgue. Breakfast was great and the staff were very accommodating.

Our stay at Hanna's on the island was our favorite! The setting, the activities, and the people are worth the trip. Hanna is a host who was attentive to our needs, and we were moved to another of her properties, which was truly more luxurious than we could have afforded before our arrival, as there was a minor issue with the one we had rented. So I can't rate Finca Ometepe, but the Heron was truly splendid!!! Thanks to Hanna and her team for this wonderful stay 😃

Great spot to stay quiet and peaceful right on the lake, just as described.

Absolutely amazing!! I would give 10 stars if possible!! The Kingfisher house was a slice of heaven. The house itself is easy to find. It was exactly as described and better. The house was immaculate. AC worked perfectly. WiFi was fast. The filtered water provided was so convenient. The location on the lake was incredible. Sitting on the patio, listening to the waves, and watching the butterflies and birds was so peaceful. After a long day of exploring the island, we were welcomed home by the sweetest dogs. It truly felt like our home away from home. It was hard to leave!!!

I had an absolutely fantastic stay. The sound of the lake could be heard all night through the main bedroom. There was a/c and a flushable toilet which did not seem common for the island. The home is stunning and thoughtfully put together, creating a relaxing atmosphere throughout. The comfort level was exceptional—I had some of the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.

Fantastic! The house was very clean and had everything you need to take care of yourself. We loved the tranquility, the sound of the waves, the sunset, and the cute monkeys in the trees. The garden is beautifully landscaped with lots of flowers, and the hummingbirds are clearly enjoying themselves. The communication with Hanna was straightforward. Unfortunately, what we were missing was the information that the ferry to Omepete with a rental car needs to be reserved well in advance (especially during holiday periods like Easter, Christmas, etc.). We couldn't get any more tickets through the normal channels, but we were lucky to find someone through an online service who was able to get us tickets for the rental car at the last minute. Without a rental car, the house is not an option if you have children. This should be made much clearer in the listing for future guests, as there is no cancellation option. All in all, we had a few wonderful days at Kingfisher House.

As others have said - this is truly a unique place and is really wonderful. We brought our young kids with us and they loved it here as well. From walking the farm and seeing the animals to the monkeys hanging out in the trees in the morning, it doesn't get any better. very peaceful.

Amazing stay. I wish I could retire here. The sunsets from the water were amazing. The garden beautiful with lots of hummingbirds and fireflies at night. Herons, ducks and other birds can be seen throughout the day. Truly an unforgettable stay.

Our family had a fabulous stay at Finca Ometepe. The house was perfect for our exploration of the island, and it was a clean and comfortable place to relax. The kids loved all the animals and greatly enjoyed milking the goats. Highly recommend!

This is the kind of place that feeds the soul. Perfect place to lay low and experience nature. It’s close to a lot of the backpacker attractions in Balgue but feels removed. The sounds of the animals in the mornings and the visits from all the doggos were our favorite parts. Would certainly return.

We had a wonderful stay at Finca Ometepe! It's set about about 1km from the main road, but very close to a number of things to do. You'll want a motorcycle or ATV. The grounds of the property are stunning. You're surrounded by beautiful gardens. Josh was very helpful with anything we needed. We were able to milk goats in the morning, and had a delicious breakfast on our patio.

I would highly recommend staying at finca Ometepe! The hosts were always quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed. They gave us great recommendations and a contact for getting rides to/from the port and ATVs dropped off to us. This place was everything and more. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and appreciated the farmhands teaching us how to milk goats and giving us a long tour. And we even got to hold baby goats! We really fell in love with this place and will certainly return.

Great place with a gorgeous view

I spent a week in this haven and it was everything I had hoped for. Beautiful property and was given a tour from multiple workers any time I wanted to see the animals. Any time I had a question or a favor to ask, Joshua was at my front door in minutes. It’s the perfect place to enjoy surrounding scenery in peace, but also comforting to know you’re not completely alone. I hope to be back some day :)

Absolutely loved this place. Just what we were looking for, nice and quiet. Loved playing with the goats and the horse ride we went on. Also in a great spot too! Really friendly local staff working on the farm that were great to chat to.

I’ve never stayed in a place so magical. We loved everything about Finca Ometempe. The hosts were there for every question we asked and couldn’t be more grateful. There were 3 house dogs that completely stole me heart. The views and smell of the gardens from or patio are etched in my memory. We ordered breakfast for 2 mornings of our 4 night stay and all I can say is wow, incredible This place was recommended to me by friends and I will forever recommend to others and I plan to be back I loved it so much

Bird watching from the breakfast table. Woke up every morning to howler monkeys vocalizations and had wonderful sightings steps from the cottage. The grounds were beautifully landscaped with flowers and fruit trees. We were fortunate to be here when the owners were here and they gave us a tour of the farm and allowed us to hold day old baby goats. The accomidations were clean and comfortable with a well at stocked kitchen.

Absolutely loved our stay! We were looking for an accommodation that kept the bugs out (as much as possible since it’s the jungle) and this was perfect. Ac was so cold I wish I brought sweatpants. Kitchen fit our needs, shower water was nice and hot. View was gorgeous right on the lake. And location was right near everything we wanted to do. I didn’t want to leave. Would stay again when I visit again! Was a really great spot for the two of us. Host was also really responsive and nice

Amazing, I would return a thousand times.

Our family of 4 stayed for 8 nights and I don't know where to begin. Our children were helping with the farm animals daily, we enjoyed delicious goat milk for breakfast which we learned to milk ourselves (totally optional). The location is great, we organized daily trips: cocoa farm, kayak tour, petroglyphs, etc. None of us wanted to leave. Thank you, Hanna and Hoken, your home is in a paradise!

We love everything about this little farm. It felt safe and you are surrounded by life. The air conditioning in the main room makes the evenings pleasant. They are happy to share their animals. We milked the goats and loved the donkey! This was my second stay and I will be back!!!

Beautiful small home. looks exactly like the pictures. Imagine a beautiful garden outside your home, with some Cats, Dogs, horses roaming around the property. LOVED waking up to the sound of horses and view of butterflies. Master bedroom has awesome A/c and the other smaller room had plenty of fans. super clean kitchen and awesome overall. peace & quire is the best to describe it. Super nice host, which was very accommodating to me, even with last minute changes. would totally recommend staying here, but you definitely need transportation in all of Ometepe. its a big island. Don't hesitate and book this place, you will not be disappointed. Also- Showers don't have hot water- but that's totally invigorating on a hot day; normal for Ometepe.

Absolutely beautiful stay in Finca Ometepe. This place exceeded our expectations and it was mainly due to the staff! They took time to show us around the farm, introduce us to all the animals, provide us with fresh fruit, milk and eggs, etc. The location was an easy drive to things on the island and they assisted us with an ATV rental. The home was clean, tidy and having bug screens was amazing. We only regret that we didn’t stay longer!

This place is amazing, once you get here, you don’t want to leave. The location is perfect, right on the lake, so you can just step outside and swim. The property is big, well kept, and full of plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds, we saw so many of them. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. The hosts were super kind, always in touch, and gave us great tips about local spots. You will definitely fall in love with this place. Highly recommend!

Excellent host and amazing location. I had a chance to stay by at both Kingfisher and Fina Ometepe. Both places provided deferent type of amazing experience based on their location. Finca Ometepe farmhouse is simply said piece of paradise with the most beautiful garden and surrounded by amazing animals and natural beauty. I only wish I found out about this place earlier so I could spend more time there instead other accommodation on the island which in my opinion can not compare and compete with it based on location and excellent accommodation and accessibility. My daughter loved it there and so did I. Highly recommended for both kids as well as the adults

Beautiful house: you fall asleep with the sound of waves... The surroundings are beautiful and quiet, you can swim directly in front of the house (lots of pebbles: you need water shoes). The house is close to everything: restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket, 25 min max by car. The kitchen is equipped in a fairly basic way to cook...but there are good restaurants such as Cafe Campestre and Nica Cafe. I recommend the house!

We loved the finca. The view of the garden with all the butterflies in the morning was beautiful. It was just wow. A perfect place to get away from everyday life and connect with nature. We had the opportunity to meet the donkeys on the property who were very sociable and came to see us. We were even able to milk the goats. The home was very cozy and very clean. There were plenty of fruit trees on the property that we could use. A real treat. The hosts and staff are very kind.

We had a few mishaps and Hanna was really great at helping us as much as possible and finding us plenty of solutions. Communication was fast, clear and very honest. Our visit on Hanna’s property was amazing! The hosts and team were very attentive to all of our questions including renting scooters, water pressure and groceries. We really enjoyed the breakfast and getting to tour the property. The house is up a dirt road, but is clearly marked from the main road. We would definitely recommend to anyone interested in a peaceful getaway.

Absolutely stunning location, far exceeded my expectations! The cabin is cool and breezy, making it very comfortable for the tropics. Be aware that Balgue and the farm is a bit out of the way from the main attractions on the island. You’ll need transportation, but this also makes the home stay all the more tranquil. Highly recommended!

The best apartment we stayed during our 7 months trip! Hanna and her husband were very kind and helped with everything we needed. The house was perfect- brand new and modern, very clean, hot water in the shower and air conditioning. Most importantly, it was very protected from all the bugs that are very common in ometepe. Waking up in the lake everyday was incredible. The views of the volcano and the butterflies is something we won’t forget. Once in a lifetime experience. We will definitely return and recommend! Our stay at Finca Ometepe was our big favorite during our trip to Nicaragua. The place is even more beautiful than the pictures. It was simply a paradise on earth! The garden all around, with all the varieties of fruit trees and flowery groves, the butterflies that flutter constantly, the birds that sing, the farm animals... Everything charmed us! The owners were attentive and friendly and the employees as well! If we had to redo our travel plans, we would have chosen to stay longer at Finca Ometepe!

Our stay was perfect. The house is surrounded by beautiful flowers, butterflies and birds. The house is close to the Maderas Volcano. A person from the team even guided us on a path on foot to the entrance of the Volcano instead of paying for a taxi! I would highly recommend it. The place is more beautiful than the photos.

It is perfect, just a little remote.

We did not want to leave! One of the farmhands greeted us on arrival and after giving us some time to rest he walked us around and introduced us to the animals and showed us the different plants and fruit trees. It was such a beautiful experience - we even milked a goat before we left, lol. On top of that the AC was ice cold and the little town of Balgue was good for eating and jumping off to other destinations like San Ramon waterfall.

The pictures do not do this place justice. The grounds are beautifully kept and interesting to walk. The house has a lot of character. We napped in the hammocks and enjoyed the breeze. I was worried about not using AC during the day and not having access to a pool in the hot climate, but the house is high up and benefited from the cool breeze. I struggled to know which town to stay in on Omatepe. Bague was 100% the right choice. So many cute cafes and family restaurants. I would love to return and stay longer and just relax and enjoy the local community feel.

We will definitely be back! There were so many butterflies visiting the porch we couldn't count them and we had a shy hummingbird checking us out. the perfect place to relax, read a book or sit and reflect.

A beautiful and very well maintained farm. kids were thrilled to be surrounded by goats, chickens, donkeys, dogs. we visited them in the morning and before we went to bed 😄 Very quiet place and beautiful too! Friendly people take care of the farm. Honestly, this farm is from Hallmark movies! everyone walks by with a smile and ready to help when you need. Also very clean and AC works perfectly! the place is 5 mins drive from the lake. Recommended 100%

Unbelievable Airbnb! It’s gorgeous the farm hands were extremely helpful. They shows us all the animals goats, baby donkeys, turkeys, dogs, cats, and parrots! We made homemade pizza dough hector cooked them in the authentic wood fire oven on the property. Berto helped us pick wild fruits from the trees and they had their own coffee!!! We made dinner from veggies in the garden. The rooms were perfectly cold at night. We were in awe honestly with everything. Normally we get to an Airbnb and go explore the area but this time we just wanted to explore the farm and didn’t want to leave it was awesome!! 100/10

Amazing experience! Highly recommended!

We stayed 3 nights and would be happy to call Kingfisher House home for a month! We were welcomed by Howler monkeys swinging in the trees, hummingbirds flying flower to flower, saw the namesake Kingfisher and watched Herons & Cormorants hunt along the water. We even saw a beautiful Pygmy owl when we came home from dinners. Everything is new, clean and works well. Drinking water is provided and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Comfortable bed and linens. Very good wifi - we work from "home" and it was impressive. We read a lot of reviews about a lack of hot water in Nica and can tell you this is not a problem here. Strong AC and good fans. There are also screens on all windows if you want fresh air without the insects. There is a small area just out front in the lake that is protected to hang out in. The hosts are all very kind and were always available if we needed anything even putting us in contact with a local taxi driver and with a person to rent an ATV from.

The Island is charming and the area of Balgüe is peaceful. Beaches are not far away but they are seasonal and we did find them with high water. Good restaurant in the area and the mini-market has everything and more. Thank you Hanna and thank you Joshua for your help and your presence when needed.

We enjoyed the time in Balgue very much! We were able to find the place easily with the Google Maps link and were greeted very warmly. The property is decorated with a lot of love and the kitchen is well equipped. The garden of the property is a DREAM! Many different plants and animals. The gardener Amilcar shared his great knowledge with us and we were able to learn a lot about the trees, plants and fruits. We enjoyed the daily visits of the little cats and dogs. The animals are very nice if you want to pet them. But they're not intrusive at all. We booked the breakfast, which was served to us every morning on our terrace and was the perfect start to the day! We highly recommend this place!

Hakan was an incredible host and we so enjoyed our stay at the farm. He was flexible, warm, and welcoming--and after a long travel day to reach Ometepe, we felt right at home. The farm itself was stunning and full of life--local crops, flowers, and beautiful birds surrounded us. It was even more incredible than the photos and we were so happy to have found this unique and special property. We enjoyed our mini tour with the host, petting the baby donkey, and learning about life on the island. The rooms and spaces were clean, the a/c was cold, and the kitchen was stocked and ready for cooking. We are looking forward to coming back here again in the future and the farm added a great experience to our Nicaraguan travels. Highly recommend! Thanks again Hakan! :-)

They are both the most wonderful hosts and their staff are special. They made us 2 breakfast and a dinner which was excellent. We enjoyed our stay at Finca Ometepe very much. It's a really magical place that's even nicer in real life than in photos. For It was by far the most special place for us and we felt extremely comfortable. Everyone was extremely hospitable and the animals, the garden and the views were fantastic. We are really glad that we were able to spend three wonderful days here ☺️ thank you for everything!

Want to relax? You've come to the right place to unwind. The house is nice. The beauty of the garden is breathtaking. The security of the area is excellent. You can count on the watchdogs (they're still just as nice). Communication with the host is excellent. Exceptional and warm staff. I recommend it, it's a 10/10 place.

The best place to stay of our entire trip to Nicaragua. Very well located, but it absolutely requires a scooter (essential to visit the island too). Everything was very clean and the air conditioning was working perfectly. Hannah and her family are super welcoming, always there to answer our questions and gave us their suggestions for activities. We even did the milking of the goats!! The beds were comfortable. Everything was perfect:)

This is one of the best airbnbs we’ve ever stayed at. Hosts are wonderful. Pictures do not do it justice! My daughter was in love with the newborn donkey. She got to help milk goats, we got a tour of the farm, and spent the rest of our time in Ometepe exploring on ATVs.

If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet respite on a sustainable finca, this is your place. We loved our time at Ometepe Finca and highly recommend this beautiful spot on the island. Hanna and her husband are super knowledgeable of the area and were helpful in arranging scooters, taxis and local recommendations. The farm is well maintained and there are plenty of animals to love up while you are there. The house we stayed in has an amazing view of the lake and farm, and the wildlife is right outside the door. We heard howlers each morning and were in awe by the variety of birdlife. Hanna and Hocken are so friendly and willing to share their stories and experience over the 10am traditional coffee hour. They also run a cafe in town called Nicafika which appeals to tourists and locals alike. The setting is ideal for a long stay, which I hope to do next time I visit. Thank you, Hanna, for your gentle care of my knee injury. Your guidance was invaluable.

This is an excellent place for vacation. It is quiet, clean and spacious with onsite parking. The property is huge with lots of flowers, banana trees, vegetables and animals. We love the nature. Hanna and her husband are very nice and always respond the message quickly. Will stay here again when we are back. Highly recommended.

Great place, great host, no surprises

We absolutely loved our stay at Finca Ometepe. Waking up each morning to the peaceful sounds of the farm—goats, parrots, roosters—was such a joy. The breakfast, made with fresh, local ingredients (including goat’s milk from the farm!), was a real treat. We spent our days touring the island, hiking, and enjoying fantastic food while meeting friendly locals. Everyone on the farm was so helpful and kind, and communication was smooth from start to finish. Renting ATVs was the best way to explore Ometepe, allowing us to easily visit nearby beaches, hiking trails, and other attractions. If you’re looking for a unique getaway immersed in nature and off-the-grid living, we can’t recommend Finca Ometepe highly enough! We wish we would have stayed longer.

What I loved about this place was the privacy and the garden jungle. It's absolutely serene. The staff are extremely helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. They're more than willing to explain about their plants, trees and animals. The only drawback was having to step outside the master bedroom/house briefly to enter the bathroom. It's attached to the house but you cannot access the bathroom from the room. The dirt/gravel road from the property to the main road can be a bit challenging with a scooter. If you plan to rent a motorcycle or ATV, it'll be fine. I would absolutely recommend this place!

If you want a quiet space in the middle of nature, surrounded by animals, birds and butterflies, this is your place! Recommend renting dirt motos for the entire stay to go around the island and get to the property smoothly, can be delivered to the property :)

Amazing place in nature in a great house. Everything was just perfect. Nice and clear but especially the surroundings. Would definitely come back next time

Staying at la finca ometepe was a dream! Highly recommend!

What a magical place, we fell in love with Finca Omotepe! The farm is stunning with the most beautiful flowers and tons of butterflies and birds. We got so lucky, two sets of goats were born while we were here and they let us go in and hold them whenever we wanted (which was daily!) the “little house” is actually quite large and well appointed. Great kitchen, connectable beds, solid AC in o e if the rooms, and strong WiFi. We didn’t use the other room. The location is great, so glad we stayed on this part of the island. 10/10 would stay again and recommend highly to anyone visiting.
