Mauricio and his team were amazing. Responsive to our large group for all our needs. The view is awe-inspiring, the animals a delight, and the driveway and a small adventure in itself. We would love to come back.

The place has an incredibly funky layout with an intimidating, angled driveway, and we absolutely loved it. It is quirky and very old school Costa Rican, with a strikingly gorgeous view where you really feel like you are part of the jungle. We cannot say enough about the view and the responsiveness of Mauricio and what a great time we had. Just be prepared for the driveway!!

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. Beautiful ocean view with lots of wildlife. Saw two kinds of monkeys, iguanas, toucans, and other birds without even leaving the property. Alex arranged a chef, who made a delightful meal. Clean and well cared for. I would definitely stay there again. Very comfortable for the eight of us, and we left one bedroom vacant.

The airbnb 1000 character limit is no where near enough to begin to describe how amazing Casa Castillo is. The location is perfect. Seeing and being so close to all the monkeys, toucans, parrots, and iguanas was something our family will never forget. Our kids are already asking to go back. The host Mauricio was amazing at scheduling excursions and the Chef for us. He is incredibly responsive and answered any of the questions we had almost immediately. As noted in other reviews, the driveway is quite steep and would recommend a 4x4 if driving. And the tour company vans for the different excursions would not come down it so walking to the top to meet them for pickup was required. For us the stairs were not a problem, but between the driveway and 4 levels of the house it could be an issue for anyone mobility limited. Overall we could not have been more pleased with Casa Castillo and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a trip to beautiful Costa Rica.

this house is incredible! but be warned, the walk to get in and out of the property is quite intense so only book if you're physically able to do lots of stair. when you first walk in theres 2 bedrooms with smaller beds and then there's stairs going up and down, downstairs is the jungle suite which is huge and private (like a finished basement). Once you go upstairs from the main entrance there's a huge living area which is open air, screened in, a large kitchen open concept, 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms. there's another beautiful staircase leading to the penthouse, you go outside to get to the penthouse to the open deck up top of the house which has beautiful views. the pool is located to the side of the house which can be accessed by jungle suite or front door. Mauricio was a great host, replied quickly. Sent very affordable shuttle options, booked our group of 11 a Catamaran trip the day we arrived. house keeping and private chef was also great! Highly recommend!

We had a lovely time at this Airbnb. We were a group of three families with kids ranging from 8 months to 12 years old. It fit the needs of each family well. The lowest level room/apartment was great for families with older kids, the kitchen level bedrooms (2) worked great for myself, my husbands and our 2 year old since they were so close to each other. The upper balcony room was great for the family with the 8 month old. Only complaint was that the housekeepers didn’t leave a broom and dust pan for us to clean up messes (such as broken glass) and that we weren’t able to do our own laundry as needed. The broken glass only happened once during a dinner cleanup, but with little bare feet running around it posed a significant problem when the housekeepers were off for the day. It would have been nice to do our own laundry on Sunday (housekeeping’s well deserved day off) before leaving early Monday so that we didn’t go home with as much dirty laundry, but honestly, this is just nitpickin
