The location was excellent and made it easy to walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. Communication with the host was outstanding from start to finish. They were incredibly friendly, responded promptly to every question, and made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.

This was by far our favorite Airbnb we have stayed at. It is more beautiful than the photos and we loved the open air concept. We walked to great restaurants, coffee shops, cathedral and shopping. The hosts were accommodating and incredibly responsive!!!

What a wonderful house in Oaxaca Centro! Walkable to so many shops and restaurants. We had a group of 10 people and everyone enjoyed it so much. It was perfect to have a bathroom with every room. This is a fantastic Airbnb that's so much better than the pictures! Lorena was a wonderful host, even accommodating an early check in. She cooked us breakfast one morning at a very reasonable price, which was a highlight of our trip! I did wonder about the layout of the place before I arrived. There are 7 rooms upstairs and one downstairs. The rooms are close to each other and still feel very private. There are plenty of places for a group to gather. Truly so wonderful for my group of 12. Would highly recommend!

This was the most beautiful place in Oaxaca! I used this for getting ready for my wedding day and it was stunning, even more beautiful in person than in the photos. They had snacks and some drinks when we arrived which my friends loved and the location was fantastic, easy to walk to Santo Domingo and to everything we needed. Couldn’t recommend enough!

This is a lovely and well-maintained place, close to the main activities but just removed enough to be quieter and still very easily walkable to the center. They have done an excellent job of maintaining the historical character of the architecture and artistry while making the facilities modern. We had a group of 13 over New Years and really enjoyed the combination of privacy for each bedroom with great common spaces. The rooftop is a gem, and the responsiveness of Lorena and the other property managers is exceptional. Of course, Oaxaca itself is a marvel. We loved staying here!

Lorena, was a very responsive hostess from the beginning to the end. I had so many questions for her and she responded accurately and quickly every time. The place was perfect for hosting my Ember and Earth Travel group. We had access to nearby restaurants and also was able to indulge in her host incredible breakfast to start our day. We felt at home and it allowed flexibility to relax between our very active days!

Not only in getting to the home, but also recommending transportation, restaurants, and so forth. She was even willing to go out of her way to purchase passes for us to travel from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido. The home is located in the city center and an easy walk to the historical sites, restaurants, bars etc. Highly recommend this home for any large groups traveling together.

We stayed at Merced La Estancia in beautiful Oaxaca, México to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it turned into an unforgettable five-day celebration. I had planned a surprise with all of our guests, and the setting couldn’t have been more perfect—elegant, spacious, and surrounded by the vibrant culture and warmth that Oaxaca is known for. There was a hiccup on our first night due to a city-wide blackout, leaving us temporarily without electricity or water. Thankfully, our wonderful host Lorena stepped in immediately and went above and beyond to bring us a generator and address our concerns with care and urgency. Her attentiveness truly made a difference and reminded us that hospitality isn’t just about a beautiful space—it’s about people who genuinely care. Once the power returned, everything was smooth and spectacular. The property was everything we hoped for and more—a serene place to laugh, connect, and celebrate love and life with family and friends. Thank you, Lorena!

Jose’s place exceeded every expectation. The apartment is even better than the photos—bright, roomy, and spotless. We loved walking out the door and being steps from cafés, mezcalerías, and all the heart-of-Oaxaca spots we wanted to explore. Jose and his team welcomed us like old friends. Check-in was effortless, they had great local tips ready, and were genuinely flexible when our plans shifted. It felt like staying with family, but with the privacy of our own space. If you’re heading to Oaxaca and want a comfortable home base right in the center, book this place. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

We had a great time at Hacienda Merced. It is even better in person than the pictures. Lorena was a great host and we could not have asked for a better trip. We had 10 friends sharing this beautiful property and everybody loved it. We also had a private chef to celebrate a 50th birthdayand that could not have gone better. I appreciate all of the work and service. Everybody provided definitely will be going back.

Estancia La Merced was a wonderful place to stay in the city. It's about a 10 minute walk to the zocalo. There's restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk. It's a good central location. The house is beautiful just like the picture. Each room has its own bathroom. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is a bit small for the size of the home but we made it work. Overall it was a great stay for our large party.

It is within walking distance of everywhere, perfect for a large family. We had a one-year-old, and there was a room on the first floor that was perfect. Older people could go to the roof and not make noise for the kid at night.

The house is divine, very spacious and conveniently located, they left us many nice touches, each bedroom has a full bathroom which makes it very comfortable, it has a spectacular terrace and a kitchen with all the necessary utensils, we asked for cleaning service one day and they were very punctual and reliable. We had a great family stay: we were three families reuniting - a grandfather, a family with kids 9 and 11 and another with kids 5, 7, and 9. We had more than enough space and everyone was comfortable. The rooftop was amazing - we ate breakfast there everyday purchased from the local market and the bakeries in the neighbourhood, and we played games there and relaxed at all times of day. The neighbourhood is great - walked everywhere but not in the heart of the centre so felt more peaceful. Lorena was super helpful - let us check in early and was responsive to any question during our visit. Appreciated the mezcal, chips and chocolate provided - we all enjoyed sipping the mezcal after a day of sightseeing! Recommend for large groups - it's a beautiful space, though note we didn't cook much in the kitchen except for eggs for breakfast.

It is a beautiful house with the best possible location in downtown Oaxaca. Large for large groups. We received an excellent service from Lorena, friendly, helpful, always answered and helped as much as I could. We hired 1 day Memelas breakfast and it was spectacular. We'll definitely be back, great stay!

Jose and Lorena were always available for questions. They communicated very well and were willing to help in any way. The home is incredible and beautiful. I would say if staying there for an event you should have someone buy flowers at the market for each room for your guest to enjoy. It’s cheap but beautiful.

I've been coming back to this place for the past 3 years. This has been a great place for me to host a Creativity Retreat for 7-8 people where everyone has their own space and bathroom and we can sleep, eat, do our studio work on the roof and be within walking distance to restaurants and main attractions. If the prices can stabilize, I hope to be coming here for years to come. Each year the owners add little extras to make the place more accomodating and useful for everyone's needs. The TV monitors, extra furniture and covered terrace was a big addition and the cold water plunge bath was a nice addition this past year. While some tiles in some of the bathrooms need attention, cing, I'm sure it's on their list as well. It's a lovely, clean and comfortable place to be. Looking forward to many trips to come.

This is the perfect place for a large family gathering or a group of friends meeting up. It is in a great location less than 10 minute walk from the majority of the best things to do in Oaxaca.

Awesome stay for my 50th bash. Lorena was a great host, she took care of everything for my dinner celebration. No ask was hard for her to make happen. She created a full 4 day itinerary for us and took care of all the arrangements, from beginning to end. All 14 of us had a great experience at this place. The only recommendation from some of my male friends that have a larger frame is that some of the rooms with full size beds need to be upgraded to at least queen size for comfort. Other than that I would highly recommend this place and stay again in a heartbeat.

Epic home base for Oaxaca exploration. Lorena made our stay amazing by coordinating our transportation, making a delicious breakfast, and teaching a cooking class. The 8 bedrooms perfectly accommodated our group of 9. We enjoyed the central location, heavenly rooftop, and Lorena’s hospitality. We even left a sleeping boy in room #4 and thankfully Lorena found him so we could come back for him. I cannot recommend this place enough! Great value

We had wonderful time here, we all loved this place, this place is very close to main touristic area which was great for us because we went back and forth to get some rest or get ready for our dinner reservations, also there are open spaces where we hang out from amazing roof top view (some of us had a massage service there) to courtyard. We loved staying at estancia la Merced! It such a beautiful colonial home. The pictures don’t do it justice, this place is beautiful!! Each bedroom has a restroom and A/C unit, their even is an additional men and women’s restroom downstairs(most of the bedrooms are in the second floor). The terrace is also lovely, the perfect place to watch the sunrise. We would go up to the terrace in the mornings and were often greeted by hummingbirds. Lorena and José were great hosts who were quick to respond if we had any questions! Would definitely stay here again!

Estancia la Merced is absolutely gorgeous! Even better than the photos. It was the perfect home base for our large friend group. The keyless entry was great and gave us all the freedom to do our own thing without having the coordinate with each other. What made our stay the absolute best was our host Lorena. She was so kind and helpful. She arranged incredible breakfasts for us each day and a super fun tour of Monte Albán. She even helped us arrange last minute early morning rides to the airport. We cannot thank her enough. We will definitely be looking to stay at Estancia la Merced again!

I have stayed at this beautiful house for two years to host a retreat for 8 women. Each person gets their own room and private bath. The front private courtyard is a great meeting place, the dining room was perfect for the catered meals as well as lecture space and the rooftop terrace was an excellent outdoor space, now partially protected with a large covered area. Rena as a great host and made artfully presented, delicious breakfasts for the group as an add on. There are cafes near by and it's a 10 min. easy walk to the Zocolo center of town. This is a great house. It's well managed and I would not hesitate to rebook.

This is an excellent spot for a larger group looking to stay near the center of the city. The rooms and central courtyard are beautiful and the rooftop has plenty of space to relax and take in the cityscape around you.

The spaces are even better than the photos, beautiful artful touches throughout and plenty of room for all. We would choose this property without hesitation again and again!

The only thing missing from the house was a washer and dryer, the Cósima was inferior to the rest of the house, the hosts were very attentive and helpful, they had a great detail, it was my 10-year-old grandson's birthday and they took us and placed a piñata full of candy

The stay was great! Lorena was so attentive, kind, patient and helped us out in so many ways. The house was beautiful, it was clean, welcoming and in a great location. We really loved the stay. Everything we needed was there- small first aid kit, iron, hair dryer, towels etc. Great comfort. The beds were comfy, the air conditioner worked great, plenty of soap and all sorts of amnenities. We had a full house and even got breakfeast both days. Lorena prepares delicious meals at a great price. I couldnt have asked for more!

Estancia La Merced was prettier than even the pictures could capture! It was a perfect stay for our whole family and definitely worth the price tag and more. Lorena and Jose were so kind and left a small bottle of mezcal and a box of the most amazing chocolates. They were also so attentive if we had any questions or concerns. Our stay here was wonderful! The space was perfect for our large group. Lorena, the on-site host, was wonderful and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We scheduled a cooking class with her, but she also spent half a day with some of the group at the market to find some specific things we were looking to bring home. Our family of 13 were in Oaxaca for a wedding. The Estancia la Merced provided a clean, comfortable and relaxing place for our entire family. It was within easy walking distance from the center. Communication was great with Lorena via Whats App. They provided bedding and play blocks for our 2 1/2 year old grandaughter. I highly recommend this place for large groups.

Our family had the most wonderful stay at this Estancia! Lorena went out of her way before we arrived to help us make arrangements in Oaxaca, and was so communicative throughout our stay. This large house was perfect for our family of 7, with lovely outdoor common areas for us to hangout. The house is a 10 min walk from the Templo Santo Domingo, and also walkable from all the the restaurants and mezcalarias we wanted to visit. And yet, it’s quiet at night and feels secluded. Couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Oaxaca — highly recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful stay. I didn't realize this place is basically a full hotel you're renting just for yourself. It is perfect for a large family or several couples traveling together -- the dining and common spaces are great gathering spaces, while the rooms are private and each have their own bathroom. Our contact was tremendously helpful, setting up tours and even a birthday celebration for our youngest daughter featuring a mariachi band, all at very reasonable prices. One side tip: ask them to disable the automated hallway lighting, as otherwise it turns on in the middle of the night when the breeze blows and shines into the bedrooms. We kept meaning to ask for this each evening and kept forgetting come morning.

The stay was very pleasant. The house was definitely ideal for our group of friends (12 people). Very comfortable, very good location, easy check-in, nice Oaxacan decor, clean, large spaces. The rooms are very spacious, with large, clean bathrooms. 100% for the facilities! Lore took care of us wonderfully. She was always there before the trip, during the trip, and when we left Oaxaca. We gave recommendations for places and typical food near the house and was aware of our tours and our stay in general. He helped us with everything we needed. We loved everything. 5 star house and hosts. This house and its location are awesome. The pictures don't do it justice. The foyer is very welcoming and teases the open central area of the house which contains a water fountain and chairs that we used to wind down at the end of our days chit chatting and sipping some tasty mezcal. The decor is extremely well thought through, and the bedrooms are beyond comfortable. There was nothing wrong with our stay. Very grateful for the opportunity to experience this unique property and will definitely be staying here on future trips. Lorena the host was also very welcoming and provided a 5 star experience. Located just outside the downtown, but close enough to explore all that Downtown Oaxaca has to offer. Hit up el pasillo de humo (the smokey hall) for some grilled meats and delicious hot chocolate. And make the walk to the Iglesia de la Soledad for some tasty ice cream - my favorite was Beso Oaxaqueño: coconut, carrot and walnuts.

This is truly a beautiful, super-clean place to stay for a large group. Centrally located. Very clean, beautifully decorated. Comfortable beds. Clean and Lorena was perfect as a hostess, along with José. As a group, we especially enjoyed our evenings in the center area where we could gather, drink mezcal, and thoroughly enjoy each other's company. I highly recommend this place for large groups visiting Oaxaca. Not unlike this place, Oaxaca itself, of course, is magical!

Without a doubt: THE best place to stay in Oaxaca. Our hosts, Lorena & Alejandra really made our experience special and comfortable. My wife and I got married over the weekend and we stayed here with our family from Colombia. Everyone LOVED this place. Comfortable rooms and beds, good privacy from each other, and great bathroom with amazing showers. The house is even more gorgeous than the photos (which I didn’t think was possible). We loved the location, an easy 11 minute walk to the Zocalo (and even shorter walk to tons of places). You get a chance to enjoy the nightlife but head home to a relaxing stay. Amenities wise you’ve got everything you need: Good wifi, a spacious kitchen with a full refrigerator on the first floor and a mini refrigerator on the second, lots of places to sit and talk with family, and air conditioning!! Beautiful, comfortable, and centrally located. Worth the price. We are definitely staying here again soon.

Great Airbnb! Highly recommend for large groups. The location is great. Know that only 4 of the bedrooms have ACs, and they didn't work for us the entire time we were there but the team was very responsive and had electricians come to fix them after the first night.

What can we say about Lorena and Alejandra. They were so helpful to us from opening up the house early to having all the rooms filled with sun hats and bags for el mandado for our guests. We came here on our wedding week and with our bridal party and we had an incredible time. Lots of room for everyone. Individual rooms for everyone’s privacy and a roof top that really made every night moonlit night complete. We fully intend to return here at the very least on our anniversaries. Gracias otra vez por todo!

Highly recommend staying here with a big group; the rooms all surround a sunny courtyard that creates a communal atmosphere, with lots of spaces for relaxing and spending time with friends. Lorena and her team were also very accommodating and I’d definitely recommend organizing breakfasts with them; the food is authentic Oaxacan and they even taught us how to make quesadillas. Lastly, the place feels like a true part of Oaxaca, situated among a number of local businesses in a less touristy part of town (though all the tourist stuff is a short walk away). Staying here was a highlight of our trip!

We loved the house very much for its spacious modern design, proximity to the Oaxaca's city center. Each room was clean, spacious and decorated with local textile and vibrant art, beautiful ceramics, and equipped with its own bathroom. The courtyard that was opened to the sky and the roof deck that provides a panoramic view were amazing and served well for entertaining our wedding guests. Our guests absolutely loved the house and our party on the roof. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, but it would have been even nicer if there were some wine glasses, paper towels, napkins. I would stay here again and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a house for a large group.

Casa Merced is located very central in Oaxaca, it is very easy to walk anywhere from there. There's a car rental next door. The rooms and the house in general are very comfortable, ideal for traveling in groups of friends or family. Lorena's service is extraordinary! He serves very professional and delicious breakfasts, but he also goes far beyond that and helps coordinate services to ensure that your stay is perfect (transportation, massages, etc.). Our stay in Oaxaca was amazing thanks to the Estancia la Merced. We came to celebrate Días de Muertos in Oaxaca and were surprised to find the whole Airbnb decorated with flowers, sculptures, and even an alter! Hector, our host, was super helpful and communicative during our whole stay. He welcomed us into the Airbnb, gave us all a run-through of the space, and was super responsive to any questions/requests of our 14 person group! One of the best things about the whole experience was that whatever last-minute interests we had: such as excursions, cooked meals, face painting (for Dias de Los Muertos); Hector would put us in direct contact with community members to coordinate these services. I would not hesitate to recommend Estancia la Merced and can't wait for our next trip to Oaxaca!

The house is wonderful. It's even more beautiful live than the pictures,its location is unbeatable. It is located 3 blocks from one of the most traditional markets in Oaxaca, where you can enjoy the variety of incredible colors and flavors. If you don't feel like cooking don't worry you will find lots of delicious and very cheap food stalls. It is also only 5 short blocks from the heart of town. So you will be a 5 minute walk to all the attractions and points of interest in the city. Not in the middle of the hustle and bustle in the city centers. So when you arrive at night you can rest super well. Also the beds in the stay are super comfortable and the rooms are very clean. Really a place I would return to with my eyes closed to.
