The Space

The Ficus Villas provide an ideal family retreat, blending Costa Rica's natural beauty with modern, eco-conscious design to offer an exceptional tropical living experience. The indoor-outdoor layout allows you to unwind and enjoy a luxurious tropical vacation.

Situated within the expansive 4,500-acre beachside resort ranch of Hacienda Pinilla, the Ficus Villas serve as the perfect base for your Costa Rican adventure.

The property includes:

• A 3-bedroom main house accommodating 8 guests
• A detached 2-bedroom villa accommodating 10 guests
• A luxury rancho featuring an outdoor kitchen and poolside lounge
• A swinging hammock garden
• A private pool shaded by a beautiful Ficus tree

A MistAway mosquito misting system is installed, which automatically sprays a fine mist of a mild botanical insecticide two to three times daily, effectively reducing mosquitoes and other insects on the property.

The Ficus Villas offer a total of 5 bedrooms and can host up to 20 guests. The layout provides flexibility and privacy, making it suitable for romantic getaways, family reunions, or large group retreats.

All interior spaces are air-conditioned with individual units, allowing personalized climate control throughout the home.

The property features six smart LED TVs with cable and U.S. programming—one in each bedroom and one in the living room. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout.

We strive to deliver a hotel-like experience within the privacy of a villa. Daily housekeeping is provided and can be scheduled to suit your group’s needs. Additional housekeeping and breakfast preparation services can be arranged in advance.

Our team offers local expertise to assist with in-house catering, sunset cruises, adventure tours, and recommendations for secluded beaches. Transportation to and from Liberia International Airport, San Jose International Airport, or rental car bookings can also be organized. We are available 24/7 for guest support.

Guest Access

Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club

Guests have access to the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club on Playa Avellanas through our corporate membership. The club features:

• An infinity-edge pool overlooking the famous surf break known as Little Hawaii
• Poolside Tiki Bar serving cocktails and fruit smoothies
• Sunbeds for relaxing by the pool
• Ocean-view fitness center
• Wellness center offering massages

The Beach Club closes annually in October.

Entry is $10 per person (ages 10 and up), which is credited toward purchases at the bar and restaurant. This fee is charged once per day.

The 4,500-acre ranch includes 3 miles of coastline with various beaches to explore:

• Playa Mansita & Bonita: Home to the JW Marriott hotel, ideal for beachcombing and tide pool exploration during low tide
• Playa Langosta: Known for world-class surfing, beach activities, and river fishing; shaded palapas offer a relaxing beach day
• Playa Avellanas: Location of the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club and six world-class surf breaks, including Little Hawaii, the Estero, Dead Tree, and Lolas

JW Marriott Hotel

Located within Hacienda Pinilla, the JW Marriott hotel offers multiple dining options accessible to our guests. Day passes can be purchased for access to the hotel’s pool, the largest in Central America, along with all hotel amenities.

Golf Course

An 18-hole, par-72 beachfront golf course is available, featuring a hole with stunning sunset views on a secluded beach.

Tennis Courts

There are three hard-court tennis courts with an on-site instructor. Private, semi-private, and group lessons are offered. Kids camps and pickleball events are regularly held.

Horse Stables

Exploring the ranch by horseback is a popular option. Customized tours ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours take you through forests and along secluded beaches within the ranch.

Mountain Bike Trails

With over 45 kilometers of trails spanning the ranch, forest, and coastline, Hacienda Pinilla is ideal for mountain biking. Trails vary in difficulty, catering to beginners, families, and experienced riders.

Surfing

Hacienda Pinilla is an excellent base for a surf trip, featuring six waves at Playa Avellanas and private access to Playa Langosta’s beach breaks. Nearby surf spots include Playa Negra reef breaks (10 minutes south) and Tamarindo’s river mouth and beach breaks (10 minutes north).

Options for getting around include:

Tamarindo, known for shopping, dining, and nightlife, is just 15 minutes away. Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia is approximately one hour from the property.

During peak holiday seasons, Hacienda Pinilla offers a free shuttle service running every 30 minutes, which requires a 15-minute advance notice for pick-up.

A medical clinic is located within the Hacienda Pinilla community.

Rates and Policies

House rates are based on up to 10 guests. Additional fees apply for each guest beyond the 10th, up to the maximum occupancy of 20. Please include the total number of guests when booking to receive an accurate quote.

Community Guidelines

The Ficus Villas are located in a private, gated community primarily inhabited by full-time residents and families. A strict noise policy is enforced between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. This property is not suitable for parties or large events.

Guests seeking to host noisy gatherings or events should consider alternative accommodations, as excessive noise will not be tolerated and may result in eviction without refund.
