The Space

- Climbing 25 meters (approximately 8 stories) up a tree
- Spending a night perched in the middle of the jungle
Nature Observatorio is a stunning treehouse suspended 25 meters above ground within the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. The treehouse features two bedrooms and a common area, accommodating up to six guests.
The structure boasts a modern, eco-friendly design that does not harm the tree—no nails are used. It is powered by solar panels for LED lighting, includes an eco-toilet, and has a rainwater-supplied shower.
Basic breakfast, fruits, drinks, and snacks are included in the price. Guests will ascend and descend the treehouse using a supervised rope climbing system.
The Experience
- Hike through authentic primary rainforest, observing wildlife in their natural environment and immersing yourself in the sounds of nature.
- Climb safely 25 meters up the tree using our secure rope system to reach the treehouse.
- Spend an unforgettable night in the canopy, feeling like Tarzan and Jane amidst the jungle.
To reach the treehouse, guests will walk approximately 45 minutes through the forest from the parking area.
For those who prefer not to stay overnight, half-day or full-day tours are available, offering the chance to hike, climb, and enjoy breathtaking views of the jungle canopy, wildlife, and birds.

The treehouse is located within the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, a protected area known for its rich biodiversity and pristine rainforest.

This was such a unique place to stay. It was beautiful and a great experience. We saw two different troops of monkeys moving through the forest and many birds. We even saw a weasel in the trees at night. The host was amazing, and the hike to the tree house was very informative. I would highly recommend this location if you're looking to try something a little different and more adventurous.

It’s our first time in Costa Rica. As so we wanted the full Costa Rica experience, we booked a stay at the Nature Observatorio and we didn’t regret it! We booked in advance as its high season in CR right now. Peter is very fast in his response and any quiestion is answered quickly. As we arrived Theresa was already waiting for us and took us through the jungle to the treehouse. She knows a lot about the envorinment and showed us around. She is so friendly and willing to answer all the questions. We were lucky to see the spider monkeys twice. We were a little nervous about ‘climbing up’ the treehouse but it is very safe. The treehouse is clean and comes with everything you need. We loved it! We would recommend it if you are a little adventurous! Peter, Theresa and Luis thank you very much for this once in a lifetime experience!! I don’t think a lot of people can say they slept in the jungle 25 m high! Thanks for making it happen!!

The most spectacular sleepover I have ever experienced. The magic of the forest is overwhelmingly beautiful. Brian and Luis were wonderful. The treehouse is extraordinary.

This treehouse is truly amazing! The dawn and dusk jungle chorus surrounding you is an incredible experience! Also, Peter, treehouse host, is a wonderful naturalist and protector of the jungle!

As the other reviews say, this was not only an amazing place but a life experience that will change the way you see the world. While I thought the price was steep before I booked it, I can now say the worth is indescribable. Safe, clean, hospitable, and educational. Peter is an amazing and inspiring man! If you are even considering this, BOOK IT NOW! You will not regret it
