4BR Villa in Hacienda Pinilla

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Communication was good, however we were not provided the code for the golf buggy on the day we arrived which wasn’t ideal. The house is very beautiful and well appointed. The outdoor showers connected to the bathrooms were a nice touch. The mattresses were a bit too firm for us, but that is just personal preference. We spent several afternoons at the Beach Club and while the amenities are tired (missing tiles all over the pool and lounge chairs that almost touch the ground) the food and drinks were better than expected. There are several solid surf breaks out front for the surfers. We also did one afternoon at the JW Marriott and ate at the Italian restaurant. While expensive with smaller portions, the quality was good. Ultimately, we ended up spending most of our days down at Lola’s in Avellanas (12 min drive)-this is an amazing beach and the food and drinks outshine anything available in Hacienda Pinilla. Our next stay we would likely stay in Avellanas

The house is overall very good to excellent. Host and cleaning lady Jenyfer were extremely helpful and responsive and I cannot have better things to say about them. The area is wonderful - close to the beach club and good surfing/towns/daytrips. However it was quite expensive (I think we paid about $680/night) and i/my wife thought the beds were relatively uncomfortable, pillows uncomfortable (just big decorative pillows and then flat pillows underneath that you actually sleep on), and we only had intermittent hot water (i had a mix of cold/hot showers for the 4 nights we stayed). Also, there was a good amount of construction going on the entire time we were there right across the main road that is behind the house (I think they are putting in a new neighborhood/development) so when you spent time by the pool it was quite noisy w/ saws/construction sounds/ect. If the price was lower than I would give 5 stars but given the price I'd expect the issues I mentioned above to be non-issues.
