Villa Verde II

Welcome to Surf's Up

Surf's Up is a renovated condo in Villa Verde II, located a five-minute walk from the beach, a mini-mart, and several excellent restaurants. The gated community is set in a safe, peaceful neighborhood. The condo is tucked into one of the quietest corners of the complex, with beautiful sunset views from one of its three balconies.

The Space

The condo comfortably accommodates four guests. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed, private bathroom with a shower, and individual air conditioner.

The master bedroom includes:

• A private balcony overlooking the garden
• Blackout blinds for sleeping in or enjoying an afternoon nap

The bright main floor features:

• Fully equipped kitchen
• Laundry room
• Living room
• Third bathroom
• Comfortable seating
• Computer workstation
• Pub table with soft chairs for dining or playing games

The condo is air-conditioned throughout and includes:

• Full-size washer and dryer
• Smart cable television
• Private Wi-Fi internet connection
• Three private bathrooms
• Linens and towels
• Cleaning supplies
• Laundry detergent
• Paper products for short-term rentals

Kitchen

The kitchen is equipped with:

• Dishes and drinkware
• Pots and pans
• Cutlery and cooking utensils
• Coffee maker and coffee press
• Toaster
• Blender
• Rice cooker
• Full-size stove and refrigerator
• Propane barbecue on the private poolside balcony

Balconies and Wildlife

Two balconies overlook the pool area. A third seating area outside the front door provides excellent views of colorful sunsets.

While enjoying your morning coffee, you may see monkeys, parrots, iguanas, and some of the many Costa Rican bird species that visit the surrounding treetops.

Swimming Pools

After a walk on the beach, take a dip in either of the two private swimming pools. Both pools include:

• Outdoor showers
• Pool loungers
• Gazebos

The pools are available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Guest Access

The complex has a locked entry gate and an overnight security guard who can direct you to the condo.

The condo also has a separate entry code that is changed for each guest. You will receive both the front gate code and the condo door code before arrival.

Guests are welcome to use items in the condo, including condiments, oils, and spices. You may leave any extra condiments or spices for the next guest.

The owner's surfboard, kayak, and owner's closet are not available for guest use.

Important Property Details

• The condo entrance is located on the third and fourth stories of the building.
• Exterior stairs lead to the unit, and the complex does not have an elevator.
• Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Please respect the neighbors and move indoors after 10:00 p.m.

Water and Energy Conservation

We encourage guests to think green during their stay. Costa Rica is renowned for its biodiversity, renewable energy, and beautiful landscapes. Water conservation is especially important, and the property's electricity is hydroelectric.

Guanacaste Province experiences droughts from December through April. Occasionally, the water company may implement rolling shutoffs to conserve water and replenish the water tables. The property has a dedicated backup holding tank for these situations, but please help protect this precious resource.

Please:

• Turn off faucets while brushing your teeth or washing dishes.
• Reuse your towels.
• Avoid running the washing machine or dryer for a single item.
• Report leaks, dripping faucets, or running toilets immediately.
• Turn off air conditioners when they are not in use.

Split-unit air conditioners cool rooms quickly when doors and windows are closed. They are not designed to run continuously and may malfunction if operated 24 hours a day.

Extended-Stay Electricity Allowance

For stays of four or more weeks, the rate includes a maximum of 750 kilowatt-hours of electricity, approximately US$150. Guests are responsible for any overages. This allowance is sufficient for respectful use of the air conditioners and dryer.

Toilets and Toilet Paper

Do not flush toilet paper or other items down the toilets. Place toilet paper in the garbage bins provided in each bathroom. Extra bin liners are available in the condo.

Because many areas of Costa Rica use septic systems and gray-water treatment systems, the plumbing pipes are narrower than those commonly found in North America. Flushing paper can easily clog the toilets.

Power and Internet

Although outages are significantly less common than they were five years ago, the power or internet may occasionally go out. Please be patient while service is restored.

If you still do not have power or internet after one hour, while others nearby do, please message us so we can help resolve the issue.

Insects and Wildlife

Please do not leave food or garbage outside. Raccoons and skunks may tear apart trash. Raccoons in Costa Rica are not generally aggressive, but they are not afraid of humans. Skunks may appear cute, but they can still spray if startled.

Costa Rica is a tropical country, so you may occasionally see ants, including inside the condo. If you notice a large number of ants indoors, please let us know so we can provide ant traps. This can sometimes occur during droughts as ants search for water. Ants outdoors play an important role in the environment, so please leave them undisturbed.

Do not feed the wildlife. Feeding animals is dangerous, illegal, and can cause them to become dependent on humans, potentially leading to their demise.
