Surf's Up is a renovated condominium in Villa Verde Dos, located a five-minute walk from the beach. The unit is air-conditioned throughout and includes private bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, beach equipment, and many thoughtful extras for a comfortable stay.

The Space

The unit comfortably accommodates four guests. Both upstairs bedrooms feature queen beds, private bathrooms, and individual air-conditioning units.

The master bedroom includes a balcony overlooking the garden and blackout blinds for sleeping in or enjoying an afternoon nap.

The bright main floor includes:

• Fully equipped kitchen
• Laundry room
• Living room
• Half bathroom
• Access to the first balcony

The unit occupies the third and fourth stories of the building and is accessed by exterior stairs.

Kitchen

The kitchen includes:

• Dishes and drinkware
• Pots and pans
• Cutlery and cooking utensils
• Coffee maker and coffee press
• Toaster
• Blender
• Rice cooker
• Full-sized stove and refrigerator

A pub table with comfortable chairs provides a convenient place to enjoy meals or play games.

Living Room

Two comfortable loveseats offer a relaxing place to unwind after a day at the beach. The living room includes a Smart TV with digital cable and dedicated Wi-Fi for staying in touch with family and friends.

Balconies

The living room opens onto the first balcony, which includes:

• Propane barbecue
• Cushioned bench
• Garden views
• A pleasant setting for enjoying morning coffee and listening to the birds

The master bedroom has a second balcony overlooking the garden.

Laundry

The laundry room is located just off the kitchen and includes a full-sized washer and dryer for your exclusive use. Laundry detergent is provided.

Linens, towels, cleaning supplies, and paper products are supplied for all short-term rentals.

The Complex

Villa Verde II is a safe, gated complex located a five-minute walk from beautiful Tamarindo Beach. The complex offers:

• Security
• Two swimming pools with lounge chairs
• Two shaded palapas with seating
• Free parking within the complex
• Free street parking

Guest Access

The complex has a locked gate, and the unit has a separate access code that is changed for each guest. The codes will be provided before your arrival.

Guests are welcome to use items throughout the unit, including condiments, oils, and spices. You may also leave extra condiments and spices for the next guest.

The owner’s locked storage area is not accessible to guests.

The owner’s surfboard and kayak are stored in the unit and may not be removed or used by guests.

Important House Information

• Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Please respect the neighbors and move indoors after 10:00 p.m.
• The pool is open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Please do not flush toilet paper. Place it in the waste bin provided in each bathroom. Extra bin liners are available in the property.
• Please do not feed the wildlife. Feeding wildlife is dangerous, illegal, and can cause animals to become dependent on humans.

Think Green

Costa Rica is renowned for its biodiversity, renewable energy, and beautiful landscapes. Water conservation is especially important, and the property’s electricity is hydroelectric.

Guanacaste Province experiences droughts from December through April. Occasionally, the water company may implement rolling shutoffs to conserve water and replenish the water tables. The property has a dedicated backup holding tank for these situations, but guests are asked to help protect this valuable resource.

Please:

• Turn off faucets while brushing your teeth or washing dishes.
• Reuse towels.
• Avoid running the washing machine or dryer for a single item.
• Report leaks, dripping faucets, or running toilets immediately.
• Turn off air conditioners when they are not in use.

The split air-conditioning units cool rooms quickly when doors and windows are closed. They are not designed to run continuously and may malfunction if operated 24 hours a day.

For stays of four or more weeks, the rate includes a maximum of 750 kilowatt-hours of electricity, approximately US$150. Guests are responsible for any additional usage. This allowance is sufficient for considerate use of the air conditioners and dryer.

Power or internet outages may occasionally occur, although they are much less common than they were five years ago. Please be patient while service is restored. If the power or internet remains unavailable for more than one hour while others nearby have service, please contact us so we can help resolve the issue.

Insects and Wildlife

Please do not leave food or garbage outdoors. Raccoons and skunks may tear open trash bags. Raccoons in Costa Rica are not generally aggressive, but they are not afraid of people. Skunks may spray if startled.

Costa Rica is a tropical country, so it is normal to see a few ants, even indoors. If you notice a large number of ants, please let us know so we can provide ant traps. This can sometimes occur during droughts when ants are searching for water. Ants outdoors play an important role in the environment, so please leave them undisturbed.

Cockroaches are present in Costa Rica, and on rare occasions, one may enter the property. Seeing a cockroach indoors does not indicate that the property is dirty or infested. They may enter after construction or pest-control treatments, which take place three or four times a year. Costa Rican cockroaches are not like those commonly found in North America; they are not social insects and do not live in groups. Cockroach spray is available in the property, or the insect may be removed manually.
