What an amazing hidden gem in Oaxaca. Perfectly convenient location wise, discreet exterior with an astonishing interior. Well accommodating and the help from the staff and host was truly superior. Loved the kitty too!

This home is a beautiful garden oasis with three levels and a pool in the center. It’s perfectly located at the tip of Centro, meaning you can walk pretty much anywhere around Centro easily, while the home’s immediate block offers peace and security. We had two couples and a 2-year old who slept comfortably. As we knew going in, you have to be watchful of toddlers given the pool and cacti, and there’s no AC so make liberal use of the floor fans, but these were navigable. Todd has made this home a Oaxacan treasure — complete with a wine cellar and mezcal bar for your convenience. He was responsive, understanding, and generous in supporting all our needs. Don’t overthink it — this is a wonderful place!!

Todd’s home exceeded expectations — it was somehow even more beautiful than the photos. Its description as a dream garden villa is completely accurate. The potted cacti and native plants, especially on the rooftop, are stunning and unlike anything I’ve seen outside a botanical garden. The location is perfect — directly across from the Jardín Etnobotánico and just around the corner from Santo Domingo, with easy walking access to restaurants, bars, and everything in Centro. The three-level layout is ideal, with a bedroom on each floor (one spanning two levels). The rooftop patio has great views of the surrounding mountains and is a great spot for sunset cocktails. The home also has a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable living area, and a lovely courtyard pool. The property’s cat was super friendly and made the trip even more memorable. I highly recommend Todd’s home, and I hope to be back one day!

We loved our stay at Casa Almaviva. The caretakers were particularly appreciated, and we enjoyed spending time with the cat too.

We had a group of 4 adults and 1 child at the house, and it was an incredible home base for our time in Oaxaca. Communication with Todd and staff who came onsite to clean/maintain the space was extremely seamless and responsive. The house itself is clean, beautiful, thoughtfully equipped, quiet, and perfectly located. We even bonded with the house cat, despite not being cat people.

Unique, multifloor property with fun nooks and crannies close to heart of action in city center was a memorable vacation spot for the family. Nice mountain views just steps from the main Cathedral. Small pool, ample cactus collection and Itza the Cat were added treats. Nice audio options downstairs and range of unique bedroom, plus a swanky tasting room with leather seats. Friendly and helpful onsite staff and proactive communication from owner only added to the kid friendly experience. Will be hard to top.

Todd's house was a bit pricy for the 6 of us (my husband and our adult children with partners) but it is a special place, one of the nciest airbandb houses we have ever stayed in. It was super clean, well stocked but not at all cluttered and the art was magnificent. We could all spread out and Todd has two women who manage the place, so they are there each day. At first we thought we didn't need them, but it was actualllly super nice to return to a straightened up house at the end of the day, something you don't usually get on airbandb. Todd also provided plenty of drinkable water which was super nice so we didn't have to keep buying tons of small plastic bottles. Great location, on a quiet street but close to everything. We loved our stay here.

The house exceeded expectations. It was beautiful and interesting while still being very comfortable. The plantings at the house are incredible. The house keepers keep the place spotless and are a great source for local knowledge. The location was perfect, out of the busy center but only by a few blocks. It is the kind of house you wish you never had to leave. Check in and check out were seamless and Todd was easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. The pool was too cold for swimming (at least for us!) but it was so pretty. All together, the best Airbnb experience I've had.

A beautiful place to stay in Oaxaca. Incredible garden.

My family and I stayed at Todd's house. It was even lovelier than the photos showed!! Truly exquisite and filled with interesting artwork and gorgeous pots of cacti and succulents, yet comfortable and spacious. The house was immaculate--clean, crisp and not a dustball in sight!! The kitchen offered us 3 different coffee makers--French press, drip coffee maker and an espresso coffee machine, so we all got to enjoy the delicious Oaxacan coffee. Our host, Todd, was extremely responsive and helpful. I have nothing negative to report; the house exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking interesting, comfortable lodging in Oaxaca that is within walking distances of major areas of interest in the city.
