Pacific Edge Eco Lodge
Pacific Edge is an eco-friendly bed and breakfast located 10 minutes south of Dominical and 15 minutes north of Uvita. Several public beaches, restaurants, and excursions are only minutes away along the coastal highway.
Built on a mountain ridge 675 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the property offers rustic, open-air cabins with screened windows and refreshing mountain breezes. Guests can enjoy the daily sounds of toucans and parrots, along with visits from the resident monkeys.
The Space
Pacific Edge has four private bungalows positioned along the edge of the mountain. Each open-air cabin includes:
- A queen-size bed or additional beds, depending on the cabin
- A private bathroom with hot-water shower
- A kitchenette
- Ceiling and floor fans
- A private covered porch with chairs and a hammock
- Beautiful ocean views
- Recently upgraded mattresses
- Luxurious linens and towels
Cabins 1–3 have small kitchens with refrigerators, while Cabin 4 includes a full kitchen and two bathrooms. All kitchens are equipped with:

- Complimentary Costa Rican coffee, tea bags, and raw sugar
There are several grocery stores nearby for guests who wish to prepare their own meals. Restaurant recommendations are also available.
The cabins are designed to let in fresh mountain air through screened windows. Ceiling and floor fans are provided, although many guests find the mornings and evenings cool enough for comfortable sleeping without them.
Dining and Common Areas
Made-to-order breakfast is available for an additional fee and is served from the menu between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the covered Rancho Restaurant.
During the day, guests may purchase:

The on-site art gallery, located next to the Rancho, features:

From the lookout towers and other areas of the property, guests can watch hummingbirds, butterflies, parrots, toucans, and the many monkeys that visit throughout the day.
Each cabina offers nearly 500 square feet of space, including a private 160-square-foot covered patio with a kitchenette.
Location and Activities
The area remains lush and green throughout the year, with mountains extending directly to the ocean. Although the road climbs 1.2 kilometers, or 0.8 miles, up the mountain, the nearest beach is only about 5 minutes away.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required. Please contact the property before making a car rental reservation.
Pacific Edge has an agreement with a trusted rental agency that offers guests a discount from posted rates, but the reservation must be made through Pacific Edge to receive the discount.
The owners recommend Vamos Car Rental, which they have used and trusted for 10 years. Guests who mention that they are staying at Pacific Edge Eco Lodge may receive a discounted rate.
A four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended not only for accessing the property but also for reaching many nearby restaurants and excursions.
Occupancy and Children
Maximum occupancy is:
- Cabin 1: 3 guests
- Cabins 2 and 3: 4 guests each
- Cabin 4: 6 guests
Children under 12 are generally not permitted because the property is located along the edge of a natural mountain ridge and is intended to maintain a quiet, tranquil atmosphere.
Exceptions may be considered when guests reserve the entire property for a private event, such as a family reunion or wedding. Children must have adult supervision at all times, as there are several areas where they could be injured.
Pets
Three rescue dogs—Otis, Ozzie, and Owen—live on the property. They are gentle, friendly, and enjoy being petted while roaming the four acres of jungle.

Early check-in and extended check-out may be possible when there are no arriving or departing guests scheduled. Please ask in advance.
Because Pacific Edge is a small, family-run bed and breakfast rather than a large hotel, staff are not available for check-in throughout the night. Any arrival after 8:00 p.m. must be arranged directly in advance.
Air Travel and Arrival Planning
If you plan to stay at Pacific Edge on the day you arrive in Costa Rica, consider booking a flight that arrives no later than 3:00 p.m.
The drive from the airport typically takes more than 3 hours on a good travel day, regardless of online map estimates. Travel time may increase because of:
- Customs and immigration
- Rental car pickup
- Traffic
- Slow-moving trucks
- Rainy-season conditions
Sunset is generally between 5:35 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. year-round, as Costa Rica does not observe daylight saving time. Driving after dark can be tiring and intimidating, particularly on unfamiliar roads.
If you arrive in San José late and prefer not to complete the drive in one day, the owners can recommend accommodations near the airport or approximately 1 hour south of San José in the Jacó and Playa Hermosa areas. Vamos Rental Car may also offer discounted room rates near the airport and rental agency.

An absolutely phenomenal place to stay that I would definitely recommend! Unique property featuring 3 simple wooden bungalows with kitchenette, a lovely common area, a pool, and two viewing platforms with spectacular views of the rainforest, the Pacific coast, and the sunset. A gem for nature lovers: quiet, close to nature, many birds and a few lizards spotted on the property, daily howler monkey concert, binoculars available for free use. Lori Ann and her family currently manage the property; they were very warm and helpful. No communication in advance via Airbnb from the owners (who are currently out of the country). Found the address via Google; the access road is steep and has a gravel surface. Doable on a dry road with a small car in first gear, but a 4x4 is more highly recommended.

The view from the cabins and the pool is absolutely stunning. You can view the coast, the rainforest and we saw the most amazing sunsets. The pool is clean and looks beautiful. We found howler monkeys right behind our cabin, saw toucans and many other birds. The property is quiet and it feels like you are in the middle of nature. The location manager was welcoming and friendly, and helped us with laundry. Breakfast was delicious! The only negative experience was the communication with the owner through Airbnb. We had a few questions, to which the owner responded very slowly (1+ days) or not at all. Our booking request was approved after the full 48 hours (automatically?) without any further message. We had to ask for the location. The communication made us honestly doubt if we would be expected, so we felt really relieved that the manager was there. We have never encountered such absence of communication with Airbnb, so this is the first time we don’t give a full 5-star rating.

This place is awesome! The view was extraordinary, and the tranquility of this place was the best part of my vacation away from the city life and was exactly what I needed. I'm a bit jealous of the the people that run that place enjoying that place everyday. If I ever make my way down there again this is where I'm staying. One thing we noticed about our view was the longer we stayed the closer the beach seemed it was truly a remarkable experience. Oh and the whiteface monkeys playing in the trees above us, the macaws and the toucans and the beautiful blue butterfly I saved from the pool. Thank you so much and defiantly the best place I've ever stayed at. Oh and huge thank you to Lorie Ann and her daughter who made us feel right at home the moment we set foot on the propety giving us a tour of the and handing us a pair of binoculars so we can soak up the view. The only complaint I have is that I didn't get to see the sloth moments before I arrived. This place is the pura vida

This was by far our favourite stay in Costa Rica - the property is just incredible! It’s so peaceful and you feel completely immersed in nature - we were able to spot countless birds, butterflies as well as monkeys. The hosts were so friendly and we had the most amazing breakfast every day! It’s a short drive into town where there are lots of places to eat. Would recommend this to anyone staying in the area!

We started our Costa Rica journey at this lodge and we couldn’t be happier with our stay here. The lodge is peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature and incredible views. The hosts live on site and care for the bungalow and property with so much love. They are truly wonderful people and we loved our stay here. The beach is a quick drive, peaceful, and quiet. We are so thankful to them for sharing their hospitality, delicious breakfasts, and letting us experience this part of the country.

If you want to be immersed in the jungle and love the idea of an open air cabin with a breathtaking view of the pacific as soon as you step out onto your private balcony, this is the place for you. The hosts are both top freaking notch and treat you like longtime friends as soon as you arrive. We came to Costa Rica with a "go with the flow" plan and Micha, "my big sister", basically planned every day of our vacation for us and not a single day was a disappointment. We woke up to the sounds of howler monkeys and scarlet macaws. After watching all of the wildlife while drinking coffee on the viewing deck, Sid made us a delicious made to order breakfast and we would all chat about our days. It's apparent these guys love what they do and take pride in making sure every guest is having a good time. This place is a true gem and the memories we have here will last a lifetime. 10/10
