The Space

Known as Casa de Mullet on the show, Casa Romantica combines the privacy and authenticity of a traditional Nicaraguan colonial home with upscale features that surpass even Granada’s most luxurious hotels. The house blends historic colonial architecture with modern comforts and is particularly charming at night. Warm wall sconces illuminate the living room, garden, and pool areas, while Granada’s low light pollution offers spectacular views of the night sky. Guests can relax by the pool under the stars or watch local thunderstorms from the sofa.

• Note: The downstairs bedroom faces the street and may experience some noise, especially during festival weeks. The upstairs bedroom is quieter and located at the back of the house.

• The house has been updated with new furniture and a new roof; regular visits from the owners ensure quality and availability of linens, towels, games, and books.
• Laundry machine operation requires instruction from Julio to avoid flooding; no extra charge for use.
• Colonial homes in Nicaragua are predominantly open-air with minimal enclosed space. Casa Romantica’s open roof covers about half the pool area. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are fully enclosed.
• Due to the open-air design and tropical environment, some dust, insects, and ambient noises are expected.
• Electricity and water outages are common; guests should contact Julio if outages last longer than 30 minutes.
• Nicaragua is a predominantly Catholic country with vibrant religious celebrations that include bands, parades, and fireworks, which may cause noise at various hours.
• Electricity costs are high in Nicaragua (approximately $0.50 per kWh). Guests are asked to conserve energy by turning off air conditioners, fans, pool pump, TVs, and lights when not in use.
• The pool is not safe for babies without supervision.
• Rental cars are generally not recommended due to city navigation challenges. For guests with cars, overnight parking in a gated, covered garage is advised.
