The Space

This Louisiana French Acadian-style home sits on 2.5 acres of beautiful grounds in the town of Birri, in Costa Rica’s Central Valley. The property is 7.5 miles from the airport and less than 60 miles from the nearest beach.

The three-story, 3,000-square-foot house includes:

• Five bedrooms
• Three full bathrooms
• An open-concept kitchen and living room
• Custom wood cabinetry and detailed woodwork throughout
• Hardwood flooring on the first floor
• Comfortable carpeting on the second and third floors
• Two large porches

Four bedrooms have double beds, while the fifth bedroom, which also serves as a playroom, has a single bed. The primary bedroom includes a king-size bed and a private bathroom.

Outdoor Areas

Relax and enjoy views of the Central Valley and Barva Volcano from either of the two porches.

• The screened back porch includes a hammock, table, and benches for outdoor dining or relaxing without being bothered by insects.
• The front porch features two porch swings and a teak bench overlooking the yard.
• The yard includes a swing set and a playhouse with a sandbox.
• A bamboo privacy fence surrounds the property.
• A river at the bottom of the hill is available to explore.

The grounds contain at least ten varieties of fruit trees, including mango, banana, and guava, along with other plants and trees that bloom throughout the year.

Kitchen and Amenities

The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas stove and oven, along with everything needed to prepare meals. Food is not provided.

• A selection of English-language books
• Toys for children

Food, toiletries, and bathroom supplies are not included. Cleaning supplies are generally available for short-term stays.

Location

Several convenience stores are within walking distance. A restaurant, pharmacy, fruit stand, and hardware store are all approximately 500 meters away.

Birri is located in the Central Valley of Heredia Province, about 1.5 hours from some of the Pacific Coast’s most beautiful beaches. The Caribbean Coast and Arenal Volcano can be reached in fewer than three hours.

Nearby attractions include:

• Poás Volcano and several canopy tours, approximately 45 minutes away or less
• Barva Volcano, located at the foot of the property
• Barva Volcano National Park, where guests can hike through cloud forest and see unique vegetation
• Café Britt coffee plantation, approximately 15 minutes away

The area is known for coffee plantations, fertile volcanic soil, and a temperate climate. Temperatures remain spring-like throughout the year. A light sweater may be useful on cool nights or after rain, while shorts and tank tops are suitable for warmer weather.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire house.

Important House Rules

• Events, parties, weddings, reunions, and gatherings of any kind are not permitted.
• The number of guests staying at the house, as well as the number of visitors, is strictly limited.
• There is a three-night minimum stay.
• Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire property.
• Smoking in the house or anywhere on the property will result in a $500 fine added to the bill.
