Overview
HRC Lodge offers simple elegance in a remote, natural setting. Serving as a gateway to the rainforest, this property supports the Hacienda Río Cote Reforestation Project, allowing guests to plant trees and explore diverse habitats. Situated on a commanding plateau, it provides stunning views of Volcano Tenorio, the Río Cote National Forest, and Lake Nicaragua. The lodge offers convenient access to Río Celeste, hot springs, and boating opportunities on Lakes Arenal and Cote. It is ideal for children, multiple families, groups, and seminars. The property now includes Starlink high-speed WiFi.
The Space
Designed by the award-winning Marin Arquitectos and constructed in 2020 by local craftsmen, the lodge features:
- Five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom
- An additional 1.5 bathrooms adjacent to the great hall
- A great hall that serves as both a dining area and seminar space for up to 24 people
- Each bedroom accommodates up to four guests
- Four second-floor bedrooms with private terraces overlooking the rainforest, Guatuso plains, and Lake Nicaragua
The entire lodge offers commanding views of the surrounding rainforest and plains. The front of the building consists of retractable glass walls that open directly to the primary jungle and pastures.
All furniture, doors, and interior finishes are crafted from native, sustainably harvested woods by local master woodworkers. The design centers around themes of the primary jungle, Guanacaste culture, and the Indigenous Maleku community. Original paintings by local artists and traditional Maleku-carved and painted masks decorate the great hall and bedrooms.
The lodge includes a high-speed Starlink internet connection and is equipped to host workshops and seminars. Its primary focus is educational, providing opportunities to learn about the primary jungle and reforestation efforts. All income from stays supports reforestation projects contracted with the Costa Rican government.
Built to U.S. code, the lodge features:
- A security system
- Smoke detectors
- External CCTV surveillance
- Individually keyed deadbolts on all bedrooms
- A gated and locked compound
The lodge comfortably accommodates up to 20 guests.

Your rental includes access, by appointment, to the HRC Wellness Center located on Lake Arenal, approximately a 15-minute drive from the lodge. The wellness center offers:

The house was very nice, clean, comfortable, and the sorroundings were beautiful. It's a very private location, but you have easy access to the Arenal Lake, which is a nice area full of nature, restaurants and amenities. We had very memorable times doing kayaking, a night walk, and we also went horseback riding. It was tons of fun for our extended family.

We loved our stay at, what our kids affectionally referred to it as, "the jungle house". It was perfect for our large group of 16 people. The kids could run around safely outside and we had plenty of open space to enjoy the kitchen and living area inside. The bedrooms were clean and spacious. Mahar answered all of our many questions and was quick to reply. Downtown La Fortuna is a bit further than we thought, about 1hr 20 minutes. The drive up to the house is very bumpy and curvy for about 20 minutes. Definitely worth it for the incredible view and location! Our family made lifelong memories at the jungle house and we are so grateful!

We stayed for a family trip, the common spaces are super comfy, it has board games if yo prefer to stay in, the rooms are very comfortable and private,there is no AC but the temperature is nice and has fans in all the rooms in case needed. The kitchen is very well equipped. It’s perfect for a big family trip. The club is not a the property but it’s close by, is very private and has a nice pool. The house is located in a very quiet and peaceful hill, very far from city noises which makes it perfect for resting. Host is very responsible, friendly and friendly and helpful. Very recommended for a quiet vacation.

We had a fantastic stay and would definitely book this Airbnb again! It was perfect for our group of 16. We loved that every bedroom had its own bathroom, and having a downstairs bedroom was great for anyone who preferred to avoid stairs. The views were incredible, the large dining table fit our whole group comfortably, and the kitchen was perfect for cooking meals together. Having a washer and dryer was a huge plus, especially with our baby. We also really appreciated that they provided a high chair and playpen, which made traveling so much easier. We had one minor issue with a toilet, and Wilbur came over right away to fix it. He and the team were incredibly kind, helpful, and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend this property for anyone visiting La Fortuna!

Our stay was excellent. The property has spectacular views and a very tranquil atmosphere, perfect for disconnecting and enjoying nature. Everything was clean, well cared for and as shown in the photos. Communication with the hosts was outstanding: they always responded very quickly and, when a problem arose, they resolved it immediately without making us wait. In addition, they were very flexible with check-in, giving us the option to use their second property while the first one was being prepared, which was a great touch. When we saw their second property, we thought it was very nice, clean, and cozy. It has excellent views of Lake Arenal, is surrounded by nature, and has a selection of very interesting books that give the place a special touch. I would definitely recommend staying here. We will probably come back on a future visit to La Fortuna.

Beautiful, super comfortable house with a spectacular view! Ideal for large families or groups of friends who want to share. The rooms are super comfortable, each with its own bathroom, which provides a lot of comfort when several families travel together.
