Studio in Ometepe

Nothing bad to say about Hector y Isabel's place. Hector was such an amazing host who is so gracious and knowledgeable about the beautiful island of Ometepe. He gave us a great deal on renting his motorcycle and even brought in his sister in law to teach us how to cook local cuisine. If you ask nicely, he might even bring you up the hill and show you his beautiful farm on the side of the Maderas Volcano. Great location right on the beach and close to restaurants and 2km or so to Ojo De Agua. Do yourself a favor and stay in this great spot. Thanks Hector!

Hector was a great host, very helpful, informative and caring. When my friend got sick he even cooked her some tea with herbs from the garden and provided us with free coconuts, freshly opened with his machete in front of us! Great local experience which is hard to find at any hotel! Definitely recommend staying here!

It was our last few days in Nicaragua and We had the most amazing time at Hectors place. It's in a great location. Beach view. Very Clean. Walking distances to some great restaurants. We had expection hospitality. We were well taken care of and can't wait to go back. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Hector and Isabel were great hosts! The communication was very timely and the actual apartment was clean and ready for us upon arrival. The location is great for Volcan Maderas, San Roman and Balgue.

Hector and Isabel are really adorable and helpful. Their new one was our guide to the volcano and was great too!!

Hector and Isabelle were amazing! They were welcoming, kind and helpful! They helped arrange tours and hikes as well as offered delicious meals. They made me feel like I was a part of the family. The room was clean and comfortable and it was in the perfect location to meet all needs of Ometepe adventures. I would highly recommend them!

I can't say enough good things about Hector and Isabel and their place. The room had everything my friend and I needed, with clean shower, fridge, electric kettle, two beds, wifi, hammock, and adorable garden. The beach is a stones throw away, restaurants of Santa Cruz are a 10 min walk, and Balgue ~30 min walk (recommend eating at El Bamboo!) Close to Ojo de Agua, kayaking from Mérida, and great views of the volcanoes everywhere you turn. There is a second guest room which is connected to this room with little screened windows close to the ceiling so not 100% private - if you are looking for a hotel, this might not be for you. Hector & Isabel welcomed my friend and I as though we were family, waiting for us on our day of arrival with fresh fruit and information about local sights. When we requested help with this or information about that, they jumped at our requests (taxis, bus times, sights to see, where to watch the sunset, a tour of their garden, fresh herbal tea, bags of their coffee for purchase, and on and on). Hector replied quickly whenever I communicated via Airbnb and most of the time were available at the house to help. Isabel treated us with a local dish for a snack and we paid for her to prepare a typical breakfast (she made us a feast!) before a day of hiking - her cooking is fantastic! She was ready to have us for a cooking lesson when I suggested this, but there wasn't time before we left. Communication was more fluid in Spanish, which I speak, but another couple staying there didn't speak any Spanish and were able to get by communicating in English. They are such thoughtful hosts, I highly recommend staying with them to explore & enjoy beautiful Ometepe!!!
