This place is perfect if you’re looking for something tranquil and off the beaten path. We visited Rincon de la vieja before, which was about a 2 hour drive completely through the jungle! It was definitely the adventure we were looking for. We arrived late our first night so it was a little difficult for us to find the place with no lights, but we loved the cabin! It was super clean and surrounded by natural beauty, and the pool is nice if you want to swim! There is a soda about 5 minutes away that we LOVED and they cooked for us even though it was so late. Our favorite part about the stay was the delicious breakfast that was included. It was SO GOOD!

So I will call it a happy surprise. The listing had Rincón de la Vieja in the title, implying it was close… which it was, but on the other side of the mountain. After a much longer than expected dirt road, we arrived at the cutest, cleanest, most charming little Airbnb, nestled in the jungle surrounded by horses and cows. We quickly realized we were much farther from everything than expected, and wife might’ve had a few tears. We were offered motorcycle rides one at a time to destinations, which felt impractical and a little crazy since my wife doesn’t speak Spanish. Then we found Blue River Resort & Hot Springs, and everything changed. They arranged drivers, tours, hot springs, and even our airport ride. The hikes felt like a movie set. We saw nobody. It was peaceful, beautiful, and somehow turned out better than we imagined.

Rosa Isabel's place was perfect. Quiet, clean and beautiful. Our favorite part was the amazing breakfast and dinner, on-site! Really good food and beautiful setting. Swimming pool was very refreshing and A/C & fans were so nice!

Super great experience if you're looking to do something away from the super touristy crowds. The cabin was lovely and the meals at the restaurant (Soda) on the premise were really great as well. We fell in love with El Gavilan and felt like we got a true local experience in Costa Rica - definitely recommend staying here and exploring the area if you're looking to do something off the beaten path. A 4x4 would be recommended to get here as the road getting here is not paved and bumpy - but don't let that deter you! It was definitely an experience I'll look fondly back on :)

Our stay was beautiful. The space was comfortable and exactly like the photos. Rosa was very responsive for all our communication and accommodating to all of our needs. The location was quite far from anything else, but that was just right for our stay.

We had a fantastic stay at Rosa’s place. The food was incredible and location was very secluded and private. Beautiful pool area surrounded by garden. Staff was very friendly.

From the moment we arrived, Cabanas Don Ramiro was an absolute dream. The scenery, the cabins, and the staff were incredible. Not to mention, Mari is an incredible cook! She hands down fed us the best food at the restaurant on site. We recommend the traditional breakfast, as well as giving pets to Sol and Daniel the local sweet pups. Thank you so much for making our trip memorable and we will be back!!
