The Space
Villa Isla Mares is a newly built, modern, and spacious home located just a 10-minute walk from the stunning Avellanas Beach, a popular spot for surfing and relaxation. This residence comfortably accommodates large groups or families, offering close access to the beautiful beach along with all the necessary comforts and amenities for a pleasant stay.
The house features five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, providing ample space for up to 10 guests. The layout includes a primary bedroom on the first floor with an en suite bathroom, ideal for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. The second floor houses the remaining four bedrooms, including another primary bedroom—the largest of all—with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet.
Guest Access
Guests have full access to the entire property, which includes:
- A laundry room equipped with a washer, dryer, and a traditional Tico pila (wash sink)
- A private pool reserved exclusively for Villa Isla Mares guests
Location
Please note that Villa Isla Mares is a private residence and is not situated within the Hacienda Pinilla community. However, it is conveniently located just down the street from the southernmost entrance to Hacienda Pinilla.

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house and will definitely be back again! The house was clean and properly maintained. Our favorite part was the pool and outdoor grill. The hammock was also a great place to relax. The house is very private and completely fenced in with a remote controlled gate. Our primary goal was to surf every day and the waves/beach at Avellanas did not disappoint. The closest beach access is the Estero trail (river mouth) and was a little tricky. It requires a short wade across the river in chest deep swamp water. If you are not a fan of that, there are two other beach access points a little farther down the road and easy to walk or drive. Avellanas has 3 main surf breaks and they accommodate all skill levels. My favorite was "little Hawaii" which is a very fun right hand break. The beaches are beautiful and locals are very friendly (even in the surf lineup). I highly recommend going to the beach to watch the sunsets at Lola's restaurant!

We just had the joy of staying here for spring break along with some close family friends (4 adults, 4 kids). WE HAD THE BEST TIME!! The whole community has such chill and kind vibes. Beach and surfing every day. Delicious food. And incredible support from Alex and Irina (who was in the neighborhood for local support). Plenty of space for all of us. Great kitchen for making some dinners in. Great restaurants close by for a few dinners out. Lunch at Lola’s or Manta daily on the beach. The home was beautiful and comfortable. Great backdrop for our perfect week! Definitely cannot wait to get back. Thank you!!!

We had a great experience staying at Alex’s Airbnb. The place was very well maintained and looked exactly like the photos, which we really appreciated. It was fully stocked with everything we needed, making our stay comfortable and stress-free. The area was quiet and peaceful, which made it perfect for relaxing. Irina, the property manager, was incredibly responsive and available whenever we needed anything, which made the experience even better. We would 100% book this Airbnb again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable stay.

Five star experience. We had stayed at one of Alex‘s places in another city, but this was our first time at this location. The house was exactly as described, beautiful and spacious. It was plenty of room for my family, another family, and my parents. Great for kids and adults alike. Close to Lola’s, which is the can’t miss each side restaurant. Close enough to do day trips to other amazing locations. But there’s no need to look for a better beach than Playa Avellanas. Alex is the consummate host, and his house manager, Irina, was incredibly responsive as well. Five stars all around!

House was clean and safe. The compound was very secure. Well-stocked kitchen with spices and access to indoor and outdoor cooking locations. Access to in-house laundry and detergent available. Great beach towels, linens were soft, beds were comfortable, beach/pool toys available for the kids.

My family and I really liked the house, however I think it is worth mentioning that to find the accommodation you have to go through a gravel street for about 10 minutes, so a high car is recommended. On the other hand, the pool was a bit dirty when we entered the house, but the situation was reported and they resolved it quickly. Irina, the person who takes care of the place, is incredibly attentive and very kind. Very close to the beach and small supermarkets.
