The home is ideal for a beach, surfing, golfing, fishing, or relaxing vacation with friends or family. Stilted construction helps keep the house cool, while reforested teak furniture and thoughtful details add comfort throughout your stay.

Laundry

The housekeeping staff handles laundry because they are the only people with access to the washer and dryer.

Power Outages

Occasional power outages are common in the area. The property has a battery backup system that powers most outlets, including the refrigerator and internet, as well as ceiling fans and lights.

The backup system does not power:

Please limit the use of electrical items during an outage to conserve battery life. The system typically lasts approximately 4–6 hours, depending on usage.

The casita is located within the Hacienda Iguana development, known for its world-class surf breaks. Four surf breaks are within walking distance:

• Los Perros
• Playa Amarillo, located south of Playa Colorado and accessible on foot at low tide

The development also features a beautiful, well-designed, and well-maintained nine-hole golf course available to guests at an affordable rate.

Grocery Shopping

The best place to purchase groceries is La Colonia in Rivas, located 100 meters south of the turnoff for Tola on the right, or west, side of the street. While in Rivas, it is also recommended that you refuel, as the closest gas stations to the property are located there.

Guests are encouraged to purchase as many groceries as possible for their entire stay. Alternatively, a meal plan or full-service catering option can be arranged for those who prefer not to plan, shop, or prepare meals.

Dining

Several excellent dining options are available within the Hacienda Iguana development.

• Pili's Kitchen is the most visited restaurant and the only beachfront option. It is located at the Beach Club in front of the Colorado Break and serves fresh food, juices, smoothies, and a full bar.
• The Salty Koala is located in La Joya next to the Eco Casitas and serves Asian cuisine and craft cocktails.
• Casa Ananas is located above the office and offers authentic Italian cuisine, pizza, and nightly international specials.
• Downtown Iguana is next to the office and surf shop, serving seafood and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at reasonable prices.
• Scoops and Spokes is across the street and serves homemade ice cream, coffee, baked goods, paninis, and fresh juices.
• Iguana Brewery is a few doors away and offers sports bar food and local craft beer.

Other restaurants and destinations in the surrounding area include:

Getting Around

The property is approximately:

• 2–2.5 hours by car from Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua
• 4 hours by car from Liberia Airport in Costa Rica

Most major vehicle rental agencies have locations at Managua Airport, and advance reservations are recommended.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is generally only necessary for guests planning to visit beaches farther south, particularly in the San Juan del Sur area. For guests who prefer not to rent a vehicle, airport transportation and daily sightseeing or surf trips can be arranged.

Motorcycle and scooter rentals are available, and vehicle or boat transportation to other surf breaks in the area can also be arranged. Vehicles may also be rented from Alamo and National, which have an office next to Hacienda Iguana.
