The Fort Walker home design offers a fresh and modern take on traditional colonial architecture inspired by the Iberian Peninsula and common throughout Latin America. The house incorporates locally sourced flagstone (notably on the south wall of the great room), colorful stamped tile, handcrafted ironwork, unique artwork, and tropical hardwood furniture to create a grand yet inviting atmosphere.

Please note this listing is for renting the house only, without the guest studio. If the guest cottage is not rented, it may be occupied by another group who will access the beach via a pathway beside the house.

For the comfort and safety of all guests, gatherings of more than 20 people on the property (house, pool, patio) are prohibited. The septic system and house are not designed for large events. A $500 fine will be imposed if this rule is violated.

This home is situated within the Hacienda Iguana development, renowned for its world-class surf breaks. Four surf spots are within walking distance: Playa Colorado, Panga Drops, Los Perros, and Playa Amarillo (walkable at low tide).

Grocery Shopping

The best grocery shopping is at La Colonia in Rivas, located 100 meters south of the Tola turnoff on the west side of the street. It is also recommended to refuel in Rivas, as these are the closest gas stations.

We strongly suggest stocking up on groceries for your entire stay. Alternatively, you can inquire about our meal plan, a full-service catering option that handles meal planning, shopping, and preparation.

Rentals for scooters, dirt bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, and stand-up paddleboards are also available here.

Getting Around

The villa is approximately a 2 to 2.5-hour drive from Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua and about 4 hours from Liberia Airport in Costa Rica.

Most major car rental companies operate at Managua airport, and advance reservations are recommended. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is only necessary if you plan to visit beaches further south, such as those around San Juan del Sur.

If you prefer not to rent a car, we can arrange airport transfers and daily sightseeing or surf trips. Motorcycle and scooter rentals are also available, along with vehicle and boat transport to other surf breaks in the area.

Additionally, Alamo and National rental agencies have offices near Hacienda Iguana for convenient vehicle pickup.
