Overview
This casita, completed in 2020, is one of four at El Puesto Del Sol and is known as Casita #4. It is located in the beautiful Tola region, perched on a small cliff with breathtaking views of both Playa Amarillo and Playa Gigante, which are both within walking distance. Playa Amarillo is a popular surf spot, while Playa Gigante offers its own unique charm.
A 4x4 vehicle is recommended to reach the top, though parking is available further down with a short walk uphill. This casita is an ideal retreat for those seeking a blend of nature, relaxation, and adventure.
The Space
This is the largest casita on the property, offering twice the space of the others while maintaining stunning views of two beaches. The structure is solidly built and includes:
- A spacious, fully equipped kitchen with all necessary appliances and a large dining table
- A clean bathroom located at the end of the kitchen
- A wooden, steep staircase leading to the bedroom (please note there is no handrail, so caution is advised when using it)
The second-floor bedroom is bright and airy, featuring:
- A large ceiling fan
- Two windows facing east toward Playa Gigante and west toward Playa Amarillo, providing spectacular views of the sunrise over the jungle and the sunset over the sea
- A huge private terrace exclusively for your use
- A constant breeze that keeps the room comfortably cool
Outside, a paved area in front of the casita overlooks a sea cliff with panoramic views of Playa Amarillo and Playa Colorado. The sunsets here are remarkable and perfect for enjoying with neighbors, friends, or a refreshing drink.
Location and Surroundings
Playa Amarillo is well-known for its enjoyable surf break and friendly atmosphere both in the water and the village. Fresh mahi-mahi caught the same day is available at excellent prices, ideal for grilling with fresh fruit for dessert.
Supporting the local community is easy here, as every dollar spent on rentals, food, drinks, or services benefits the village. Nearby amenities include:
- Board rentals at Room to Roam and Todd’s Surf Rental in town
- Boat trips to other surf spots
- Fishing excursions
- Spanish lessons at Pie de Gigante Spanish School
- Refillable 5-gallon water bottles available at La Cascada Hostel or Dale’s

Internet
Each casita has its own dedicated router providing a stable internet connection of approximately 15 Mbps, suitable for video calls. However, occasional service interruptions may occur due to the local internet provider, which are beyond our control. These outages are infrequent but may briefly affect your connection during your stay.
Getting Here
- By bus: A bus departs from Rivas Mercado at 1:30 PM and arrives in Gigante around 3:30 PM. From the bus stop, it is a 10-minute walk to the casita.
- By taxi: Airport pick-up can be arranged, or assistance is available to help you find the correct taxi to the property.

This spot is lovely with sea breeze and a great view. It’s very relaxing and quiet. Great views from the Terrance, the hammock is the best part. Rocio was always responsive and helped with anything I needed. It feels safe and well taken care of. Update from other reviews: There are plenty of kitchen supplies now and a bug net around the bed, fan above and a floor fan as well. I’ll be coming back again soon I hope. 🤞

Gigante is real Nicaragua still. The Nica and western locals here are both rad and so so inviting to travellers who come to town. This is the perfect spot to stay in gigante if you don’t want to be in a hostel. 10 minute walk on the beach or 3 minute moto ride to the main street. Beautiful location on the cliff looking at both playa gigante over the forest and playa Amarilla. Great breeze, epic sunsets awesome host. Can even check the surf with binoculars at panga. Stay here, you won’t regret it. ⚡️

I absolutely loved this place. Being up on the hill with that beautiful view of the Amarillo surf spot was amazing. The house was minimalistic and nicely furnished, and my favorite spot in the mornings and throughout the day was the hammock – perfect for relaxing and reading.

we stayed ten days amd the views from the balcony with the two hammocks never stopped to he absolutely amazing. two beaches are in walking distance. rocio is very sweet and always quick to help, when there a problems. sadly almost everyday water wasn't runing and or the electricity was gone. rocio did everything in her power to get everything back on track. I'm agreeing to the criticism almost everyone wrote so far: there's a massive lack of kitchen utilities. the pans and kettles are bad, no glasses, no salt oil anything. one person also said, that on pictures it all looks minimalistic and clean... well clean it is, but it feels a bit empty. this place has soooo much potential, i hope at one point the owners would invest just a little bit and make it cuter and more welcoming. but still my friend and i were very happy that we stayed there.

Great place between the two beaches. The terrace has the view on both sides and you have peace, yet not far from infrastructure. An absolute hit of luck in the area!!! The only drawback of the kitchen does not offer any basic amenities such as salt, oil or sugar and is also quite rudimentary. For example, glasses were missing, but cups without end :-)

We stayed there for 5 nights and we enjoyed it very much. You can absolutely switch off and the view is wonderful. The property was clean and everything was there.
