Good location and fair price but has lost some of it's nice touches since the photos. Bathroom sink sprays all over, closet door is broken, a busted washing machine sits on the patio, and no pictures or paintings on the walls make it feel like an insane asylum. There was no toilet paper, shower soap, or dish soap. I asked but never received anything.

The place is very cozy and quiet, especially for staying with family. The owners are very friendly people who care about comfort and making sure everything is in order. Recommended!

We had a little trouble communicating with the company about our check in process, perhaps due to translation issues. Thankfully the neighbor, who owns the place, was in town and was there to show us how to get in. The company rep showed up an hour after our agreed meeting time, but was very kind. The place needs some work and updating, but it matched the vibe of the area in general. We were in the area for some meetings/conference at the Marriott so this was way more affordable and a very easy/quick drive over to the Marriott. We were mostly interested in birding, and found the path down to the mangrove pretty productive for some of the coastal species were were looking for. During low tide it was easy to cross the river (thigh high water) and get out to the beach. We also found that the public access to the beach was an easy walk as well. We have staying in many BnBs around the world, and this was a solid average to nice place.

This a property managed by a company, the host was there to greet us but the communication between us and the company was terrible. If the real host didn’t live next to us we would have waited like 2 hours to get inside. Also the company gave us the wrong address and they were really slow to contact, at the end they gave us 2 map locations and none of them were the place. We had to do our own research of the area to finally identify the house. Also some furnitures had very nasty stains, and the shower just didn’t work properly. The only decent thing about this place is the location but most of the restaurants and the entrance to beach are a 20 min walk. I would definitely not book this place again.

The treatment and accommodation was a maeavillous experience. We were greeted with fruits, water, and coconuts, including coffee. The casita is beautiful, is very close to the beach and has a very quiet atmosphere. Perfect escape from the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Avellanas. This little house was a perfect home base for our first two weeks in Costa Rica. This home is about a 20 minute walk from the beach, there are several restaurants around and there is a health food store and yoga studio within walking distance. It’s a bit quiet, but perfect for relaxing. The nearest large grocery store is out in Tamarindo which is a 20-30 minute drive down a fairly rough dirt road. We were fine in a sedan, but you would be better off in a truck or SUV. Our only complaints with this particular spot is that we lost either power or water every day. The water situation was frustrating as when you lost it you were not sure for how long and you couldn’t shower, cook or wash dishes. One day we lost water around 11am and it didn’t return until the following day! The host was communicative, but that issue seemed to persist no matter what maintenance they did. We also did not have a key to the driveway gate which was a bit annoying.
