Guest Access
Guests have exclusive use of the entire second and third floors of the house, along with full access to the jungle/farm property and the open-air kitchen where breakfast is served.
You are welcome to prepare your own meals in the kitchen, which is shared with three other guesthouses but used infrequently.
Breakfast is included and served daily from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. It features organic island coffee, herbal tea from the gardens, and farm-fresh dishes prepared by a friendly local cook.
Guests are invited to join a free guided tour of the 1-hectare (2.5-acre) guesthouse property led by the local site manager. The tour highlights farm animals, tropical fruits, organic gardens, and examples of sustainability and self-sufficiency in the jungle.
Other Things to Note
The farm is home to three friendly, well-behaved dogs named Vago, Osa, and Navi. They provide companionship and security around the clock but do not enter the house. They enjoy being petted but mostly sleep during the day.
The entire property is a lush tropical forest teeming with diverse plant and animal life. Guests may encounter small, shy jungle animals such as birds, butterflies, bees, monkeys, frogs, toads, spiders, and small bats. Occasionally, these creatures may seek shelter inside the house.
In line with the property's philosophy, natural remedies are used to manage wildlife, and guests will be informed about these upon arrival. None of the animals found here are aggressive, toxic, or dangerous to humans.
The only venomous animal on the island is the coral snake, which is timid and rarely seen. These species contribute to Ometepe’s status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, celebrated for its natural beauty and biodiversity.

A breathtaking location and cottage. We stayed right in the forest, surrounded by beautiful flora. Howler monkeys and birds were all around us. The food in the restaurant was divine, made with high-quality local ingredients, with excellent options for both us and the children. We also really enjoyed visiting the farm, picking mangoes and drinking fresh coconut water.

We loved our time at Selvista. The jungle is magical. We loved sitting on the 3rd floor balcony overlooking the view; we saw beautiful birds, the pigs and monkeys. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. Everyone that helped us was warm and welcoming. They even helped us with last minute ferry reservations. The bed was very comfortable and we loved sleeping with the sounds of the jungle.

It was a great experience staying here. The jackfruit house had a gorgeous scenery of the volcano. The breakfast was superb and we enjoyed our stay very much. Be prepared to see insects, spiders, birds, pigs, dogs, and even a monkey we saw hanging in the trees. Although it was the dry season and many dead leaves surrounding the property, we made the best out of our stay. At night, the weather was perfect with the help of fans and we were able to stargaze. If you are ready to experience some jungle life, I’d definitely recommend the stay.

We a great jungle experience at Selvista! But keep in mind that the room on the ground floor is very dark and the mattress isn’t in a good condition. nevertheless I would recommend staying at this place 😊

To get to the third floor - the only area with seating to relax in - you have to climb a steep ladder through a hole in the floor. Not everyone with me was able to climb it. This accessibility issue was not in the description. There are a tonne of bugs - we expected that. But we didn't expect that there wouldn't be screens on most of the windows. It was 30 degrees out, the rooms were sweltering, and we couldn't open the windows. I woke up the first morning to a wasp on the outside of my bug net. I was able to get it out the window... But then there was another one.. and another one... Then I noticed that the base of the bed is hollow bamboo sticks, and wasps were going inside. It made a humming noise in there - a noise I had been hearing all night. I saw a wasp nest on the porch ceiling. I can handle bugs - I camp a lot, but I wouldn't camp somewhere infested with wasps. Our reso was 4 nights - they denied our change request. I got airbnb involved - host didn't reply to them.
