The Space
Sanctuary Retreat is a beloved A-frame cabin nestled along the Sevegre River in San Gerardo de Dota, Costa Rica. Wake to soft sunlight and the soothing sounds of the river, with each day offering a balance of relaxation and adventure.
Inside, a blend of exotic woods creates a refined yet rustic atmosphere. Large windows fill the cabin with natural light during the day and open the interior to the night sky after dark. From the riverside deck, you can enjoy expansive views of the stars. Each morning may bring visits from ducks and the occasional splash of a fish.
Evenings are especially comfortable with heated Serta king and queen beds, providing warmth beneath the starlit sky. For outdoor adventure, take a refreshing dip in the river or follow the nearby trail to a breathtaking waterfall just moments from the cabin.
Sanctuary accommodates up to four guests and includes:

Heated toilet?! If that isn't a reason to book it right now... 😆 this is actually my 3rd time staying at Unicorn Lodge. I've experienced the dome 2x and this new A frame this time. Watching this project grow over the past 4 years has been really incredible. This property is an oasis and worth the splurge! Just book it - trust me you won't regret it 🥰

The place is beautiful, exactly as it looks in the photos. Private, clean. The hosts always responded super quickly and gave us good recommendations on what to do in the area. They were always available in case we needed anything. We loved the heated beds, and the place had everything we needed to cook. We would definitely come back.

Our stay at Unicorn A-Frame was absolutely wonderful. The cabin is stunning, truly unique, and sits right beside a beautiful river, creating such a peaceful and magical atmosphere. Everything was spotless, the beds were incredibly comfortable, the shower had great hot water, and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. You can really tell how much care has gone into every detail. Communication with Travis and Jessica was smooth from start to finish. They were friendly, responsive, and made the entire experience effortless. I highly recommend Unicorn A-Frame and also their other cabins, which I’ve stayed in as well. Every property has been exceptional, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. If you’re looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway, this is the place.

Beautiful cabin, very quiet surroundings, quetzal right behind the house (if you're lucky). Great garden with lots of flowers, plants and hummingbirds. Despite the cool weather, the nights were pleasant thanks to the heated bed. We had a great time, thank you so much. By the way, the restaurant Doña Marlen, a 3-minute walk away, offers absolutely great food, and the restaurant's balcony is home to many beautiful hummingbirds.
