Casa Serena

Casa Serena is located approximately 5 kilometers from the airport in Puerto Escondido, on a long, peaceful beach. It offers a tranquil setting for families and a welcoming home for friends traveling together or guests from all walks of life.

Occupancy is limited to 10 guests. Children aged 2 and older are included in the guest count.

The Space

The party pavilion comfortably seats 10 guests for meals and includes a dining area, bar, and living room beneath one large palapa.

The kitchen is designed for preparing meals for groups and features:

• A restaurant-quality GE Monogram oven
• A kitchen island with seating for 6
• A bar with seating for 6
• Views of the outdoor living room from the bar

All five bedrooms are well appointed and include:

• Coffee makers
• Air conditioning
• Overhead fans
• Double sinks
• Spacious closets
• En suite bathrooms
• King-size beds, except in the children’s room, which has two single beds
• Locking doors and windows
• Comfortable linens

The large couch in the master bedroom is suitable for children’s beds. Each evening, the staff will set up the coffee maker in every room and provide a pitcher of ice water. The water comes from the property’s own well and is triple-filtered.

Food and Chef Service

The rental price does not include food, although a chef is provided for 8 hours each day.

You may purchase your own groceries or ask the staff to shop for you at no additional cost. Receipts will be provided for all purchases.

Staff Gratuity

The staff work hard to make your stay comfortable. As a general guideline, we recommend a gratuity of 100 pesos per adult per day, given directly to the staff at the end of your stay.

Swimming and Surfing

Swimming

Swimming in the ocean in front of the house is possible, but the water can be powerful, so it is not recommended. Experienced swimmers who are familiar with the Pacific Ocean and able to read the waves may choose to swim there at their own discretion.

Surfing

The waves in front of Casa Serena are not normally suitable for surfing. On rare days, conditions may be favorable, but surfers will probably prefer to travel to Playa Zicatela.

Surfing and boogie boarding lessons can be arranged for beginners through advanced participants at either Playa Carrizalillo or Playa Zicatela.

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning is available in all bedrooms and in the media room and office. The common areas are designed for continuous airflow from the mountains and the sea.

To reduce environmental impact, guests are encouraged to use the air conditioning only when necessary.

Privacy

Casa Serena is rented to only one group at a time, so there will be no other renters or guests at the house.

Getting to Casa Serena

Several airlines offer direct flights from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido Airport, which is approximately 5 minutes from the house. Airlines include:

• Interjet
• Viva Aerobus
• Aeroméxico
• Aeromar

Direct flights to Huatulco Airport are also available from:

• Minneapolis with Sun Country Airlines
• Calgary with Air Transat
• Toronto with Air Canada, Sunwing Airlines, and Air Transat
• Winnipeg with Sunwing Airlines
• Edmonton with Sunwing Airlines
• Montreal with Sunwing Airlines

Huatulco Airport is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Casa Serena.

At an additional cost, a chauffeured car can be arranged to meet you at the airport and transport you to Casa Serena.

Guest Access

Your rental includes access to the entire house and property, including:

• Gym
• Office
• Kitchen
• Two half bathrooms
• Five bedrooms
• Swimming pool
• Widow’s walk
• Gardens
• Party pavilion, including the living room, bar, and dining area

The housekeeping staff live in a separate building on the grounds, tucked away in a corner of the property.

Additional Information

Children under 2 years old stay free and are not included in the maximum guest count. Children aged 2 and older are counted as guests. When booking, please provide the total number of adults and children so the staff can prepare for your arrival.

The housekeeping staff will make the beds and clean the rooms every day. They are also available to:

• Do laundry
• Make reservations
• Arrange in-room massages
• Organize billfishing excursions
• Arrange swimming in the phosphorescent waters of Manialtepec Lagoon
• Make dining reservations at Almoraduz, whose owner trained at Pujol in Mexico City
• Arrange visits to Casa Wabi, designed by Tadao Ando
• Assist with errands and other general requests
