The Space

Finca del Sol is a small, family-run eco-lodge located on the slopes of Volcano Madaras. The property spans 11.5 acres, with over two-thirds covered by tropical dry forest. This natural setting offers guests the chance to observe a variety of wildlife, including howler monkeys, rabbits, frogs, birds, and butterflies.

The lodge features three uniquely decorated private guest bungalows and one loft room. Each accommodation is clean, comfortable, and provides stunning sunset views of Volcano Conception.

The private cabin, the newest addition, is a hexagonal structure with a hand-woven thatch roof and cob-style walls designed to keep the interior cool year-round. It measures approximately 800 square feet, including the porch, and offers some of the best views of the volcano and lake on the property.

Located on a hillside with refreshing breezes, the cabin includes a large private garden. It is furnished with a queen bed and a bunk bed, both equipped with orthopedic mattresses and mosquito netting. Additional amenities include purified drinking water, a private bathroom with hot water shower and shampoo, and two hammocks with exceptional views—perfect for relaxing or reading.

Daily housekeeping is provided, including bathroom cleaning and bed making. Full cleaning is done upon departure. Fresh sheets and towels are available upon request.

Location

The eco-lodge is within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, and hiking trails. Guests can enjoy wandering paths through the tropical dry forest and observe local wildlife such as monkeys, birds, and butterflies.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the tropical dry forest and organic farmland on the property. The common area provides an opportunity to meet other visitors, plan tours, or simply enjoy the park-like surroundings filled with flowers.

The lodge offers a peaceful environment ideal for meditation, yoga, and connecting with nature. Wi-Fi is available at the reception area, where guests can also enjoy breakfast outdoors.

For larger groups, there are two additional cabins and one room available, accommodating up to 12 people.

Other Information

• The key is available on-site between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Late check-ins require prior arrangement via email.
• The hosts live on the property but may come and go during the day. Guests are encouraged to communicate their arrival times.
• Friendly dogs reside on the property, adding a home-like atmosphere.
• The lush tropical forest hosts a variety of small, shy animals such as birds, butterflies, bees, monkeys, frogs, toads, spiders, and small bats. None of these creatures are aggressive or harmful to humans.
• The only venomous animal on the island is the coral snake, which is timid and rarely seen.
• Ometepe Island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, celebrated for its rich biodiversity and natural beauty.
