Utilizing walls of accordian glass...
A unique glass and steel house set in the tropical rainforest in coastal mountains of the Southern Pacific Zone. Utilizing walls of accordian glass doors, upscale kitchen, heated infinity pool, a spa and beautiful landscaped area. Peace & Nature. The space Our home has an unusually open space, a large deck, patio and a heated infinity pool two steps away from the spa. Our view side is built completely from accordion folding tinted, tempered glass doors (with the exception being the bottom half of the shower of the room upstairs). A large living room with a reclining love seat and sofa, flat screen TV, Bose sound, large selection of videos and cd's. The kitchen is chef level, with a massive elemental granite island. Both Master Bedrooms are huge, about 350 sq ft, having a proportionatley large bathroom. A two person bathtub is placed within the bedroom, and in addition there is a large walk in closet w dehumidifier. There is a large separated toilet/bidet room with wall mounted toilet and adjacent bidet. The huge shower is along the view side, with the top half of the wall having accordion windows so one can view without obstruction the mountains as they fall away to the sea.....and this view is in complete privacy. The bed includes a California King sized memory foam mattress, overhead fans, A/C and USB plugs. Any extra beds will be a queen sized double high air mattress. Downstairs is the third bedroom/suite, with a separate large bathroom, huge shower (with a temperature register). One the first floor there is a 3 meter-wide deck around much of the house, a concrete patio leading to the massage therapy pool, just in front of the spa. Upstairs includes a one meter wide deck surrounding both bedrooms and around back leading to another garden area on the back slope. Throughout the property is a developing tropical garden and landscaping, with fruit in season and excellent bird watching. I have just uploaded a walking tour video.... look up cortina de estrellas on youtube. It's about 12:43 long and watch it on HD Guest access Guests have access to all areas of the house except the office. The cooking facilities are a joy to use, design for both amateur and professional cooks. Large separate fridge and freezer are always accessible. There is an exercise room upstairs with a NordicTrack and the wide deck downstairs is great for Yoga. Wireless Internet is free. A large capacity washer and dryer are available. Our river is bordering the property and is a short walk away, and we have life vests available for those who want one. One part of the river is a fabulous tropical river "poza", swimming hole. Without exaggeration this is an idyllic, primeval setting, with hanging air roots, sheer rock walls from 20-50 ft high (hence the life vests as there are no handholds). The Poza is about 30 ft wide, 90 ft long and 33 ft deep. Above the rock walls is a jungle canopy reaching far up to the sky, creating a green flickering ambiance, you will never forget. It takes some effort to get to, but you will tell your friends about it for years. The intrepid can find the one place where you can climb up, (near the water inlet, a cascading water chute of pure clear water, having carved out it's twisting path from solid rock) and try out the many ledges from which to dive. There is another, private path, down to the river above the poza. This part of the river is almost inaccessible outside of this path, but it is definitely worth it. Other things to note We have 3 good quality queen sized air mattresses with which you can place in any of the bedrooms or living room. There is so much to see in Costa Rica, and especially in the Southern Pacific Zone in which we are located. I will humbly offer that even just around our house and the immediate area is enough to satisfy most of the desires you come to a tropical paradise for. Flora, Fauna, a magical river, close up birdwatching, the jaw dropping beauty of even our insects and butterflies. You will be serenaded by birds, frogs, howler monkeys and the rushing sounds of the adjacent river. Spectacular beauty is the norm. A warm comfortable climate is the norm, year around. Calm, Peace, Nature..... that is our environment.

Cortina de Estrella is a magnificent place to stay. Unbelieveable views and amenities and sophistricated finishes to the home. Beyond that, Rick is an amazing host. Clear communication, prompt responses, knowledgable of the area (Poza de Diablo is a sight to see!) and very personable. We booked this reservation two years ago and he held it for us with no qualms or increases in charges. If you are looking for a good place in the Uvita you need to look no further than Cortina de Estrella.

Rick's house is truly paradise. It is extremely private with stunning views of the jungle, mountains and the Pacific ocean. I can not type words to describe this house. Rick was also a perfect host who helped us out several times with information about the house and the area. My family enjoyed staying for 10 days here. Everything was perfect.

Great place. One of our top places we have stayed; an experience of a lifetime. All the walls open up to bring the jungle into the home. Lots of cool birds right outside our bedroom window. Very spacious with plenty of room for family and friends. As others have noted Rick is a great guy. Highly recommend.

Such a great stay at Rick’s! We were two families and made the best of the area, while also finding time for chill days. We all loved the view, the birds, the pool and the vibe. Rick was a great host, taking care of us throughout! A great vay-cay!

Beautiful house, great for a family or 2 to 3 couples. Host (Rick) is awesome, and very accessible. The house is a great location, and we loved spending time in the backyard river.

Ricks house is a jewelery! He lives there by himself most of the year which makes the kitchen be the best we had in our many houses here. The location is outstanding, between jungle, waterfall (dont miss this!), oceanview and proximity to Uvita and Dominical. We easily went to all the many beaches around and enjoyed the best sleep of our whole trip cause the climate being a little up in the mountains was just perfect.iI personally enjoyed the architecture of the house so much. It is such a well thought, high quality construction and design. the high eilings of more than 4 meteres, the glasspartitions that can be set apart, the well kept garden and fruits that the guests can just harvest - WOW!

Rick’s home is beautifully located just far enough away to be secluded and just close enough to be within reach of the local stores, restaurants, and beaches!! The home was perfect for our large family and Rick was so accommodating when anything came up. He is friendly and informative. He is help was a valuable part of our trip. We highly recommend his home to anyone or family looking to have a perfect experience while in the South Pacific part of Costa Rica! We are so grateful we found his home for our Christmas vacation!

Rick’s home is an amazing marriage of nature and style. The “yard” is jungle and the interior is modern and clean. The local wildlife is readily visible through the glass walls. The only thing nicer than the home was Rick’s hospitality. He’s a man of many talents; always happy to provide help and recommendation. We highly recommend his home!
