The Space

Located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, just a five-minute walk from the historic center, Casa Garita is a luxury hillside home that combines historic character with modern elegance. Built around the preserved ruins of an 18th-century building, the thoughtfully designed residence sits on a lush garden lot and offers two spacious terraces overlooking Centro.

The expansive central living and dining area features:

• An elevated, double-height brick boveda ceiling
• A skylight that fills the room with natural light
• A cozy fireplace

Each of the three bedrooms has a private en-suite bathroom, luxury hotel-quality bedding, and premium bathroom soaps and essentials.

Rooftop Terrace

The private rooftop terrace is accessed through a retractable glass ceiling and offers sweeping views of San Miguel’s historic skyline and the surrounding countryside, including beautiful sunsets.

The newly renovated rooftop kitchen includes:

• A grill
• A refrigerator
• A sink

An adjoining lounge area, surrounded by built-in benches, a fire feature, and vibrant plants, creates an intimate retreat. Seasonal fruit trees, including lime trees, provide fresh ingredients for rooftop margaritas.

Guest Access

Guests have private access to the entire house. Entry instructions will be emailed one day before arrival.

Cleaning and housekeeping services can be arranged upon request.

At various times, you may hear:

• Church bells ringing as early as 5:00 a.m., or throughout the night
• Fireworks late at night or early in the morning for local celebrations
• Parades passing directly in front of the house, sometimes closing major streets and causing traffic delays
• The trash truck ringing its bells to announce its arrival
• The whistle of the local knife sharpener
• Construction activity
• Barking dogs or crowing roosters

San Miguel de Allende is a 400-year-old colonial town in Mexico, protected by the federal historic society to preserve its centuries-old character. As a result, the infrastructure has its own personality. You may encounter:
