The Space

Set on a three-quarter-acre property, Casa Lia Rose is surrounded by native plants and local wildlife, including howler monkeys. The private courtyard includes:

A single bed can be added to each of the two larger bedrooms. Two single beds are available in total, allowing the home to accommodate up to eight guests.

The well-equipped kitchen includes everything needed to prepare meals at home, along with an outdoor propane barbecue. The large living area features vaulted ceilings, numerous windows, and fans throughout for comfortable airflow. A locally crafted dining table provides ample space for the entire group.

Important Information

Occasional power outages are common in this area. The home does not have a backup power source, so please limit opening and closing the refrigerator during an outage to help preserve chilled items.

If you need internet access during an outage, contact your reservations agent or concierge for recommendations on nearby places with connectivity.

Hacienda Iguana is known for its world-class surf breaks. Four breaks are within walking distance:

Food Supplies

La Colonia in Rivas is the best place to purchase groceries. It is located 100 meters south of the turnoff for Tola, on the right, or west, side of the road.

While in Rivas, we also recommend refueling, as the gas stations there are the closest to Hacienda Iguana. We strongly suggest purchasing all, or as many as possible, of the groceries needed for your stay.

For a more convenient option, ask about our meal plan and full-service catering, which eliminates the need to plan, shop, and prepare meals.

Several restaurants are located within Hacienda Iguana:

• Pili's Kitchen: The development’s only beachfront dining option, located at the Beach Club in front of the Colorado Break. It serves fresh food, juices, smoothies, and a full bar.
• The Salty Koala: Located in La Joya next to the Eco Casitas, offering Asian cuisine and craft cocktails.
• Casa Ananas: Located above the office, serving authentic Italian cuisine, pizza, and daily international special nights.
• Downtown Iguana: Next to the office and surf shop, offering seafood and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at reasonable prices.
• Scoops and Spokes: Across the street, serving homemade ice cream, coffee, baked goods, paninis, and fresh juices.
• Iguana Brewery: A few doors away, offering sports bar food and local craft beer.

Getting Around

The property is approximately a two- to two-and-a-half-hour drive from Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua and about four hours from Liberia Airport in Costa Rica.

Most major vehicle rental agencies operate at Managua Airport, and advance reservations are recommended.

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is generally only necessary if you plan to visit beaches farther south in the San Juan del Sur area. Guests who prefer not to rent a vehicle can arrange airport transportation, daily sightseeing trips, and guided surf excursions.

Motorcycle and scooter rentals are available, and vehicle or boat transportation to other surf breaks in the area can also be arranged. Alamo and National have a rental office next to Hacienda Iguana.
