The Space
Relax at this peaceful and distinctive retreat nestled in the lush jungle of Costa Rica. Casa Vida is situated in the hills of the sunny Guanacaste province. A majestic Guanacaste tree by the pool is home to a family of monkeys, adding to the natural charm of the property.
This immaculately constructed guesthouse is ideal for couples or small families seeking a memorable and unique experience. We strongly recommend having a vehicle, preferably a 4x4 or at least an SUV, to fully enjoy your stay.
The house is furnished with a harmonious blend of local design and craftsmanship by a skilled carpenter. The gated property includes a spacious parking area that can accommodate multiple cars.
The entrance opens to a fully equipped kitchen designed by a professional chef, providing everything needed to prepare anything from light poolside snacks to gourmet meals. The dining table seats six guests and offers spectacular views of the ocean and valley through the house’s glass facade.
Large sliding doors open widely, blending indoor and outdoor living spaces. This design allows natural light to fill the living room, where you can relax on the cozy couch with a coffee while enjoying the surrounding nature.
Casa Vida features two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The main bedroom includes a king-size bed, flat-screen TV, ample closet space, blackout blinds, and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom, located opposite the main bedroom, is furnished with a queen-size bed, a desk, blackout blinds, and closet space.
Both bedrooms have large sliding doors facing west that open onto a teak deck terrace, which hosts the pool and BBQ area. The terrace guarantees incredible sunset views.

Casa Vida is perched on the hills near the town of Pinilla and is a short drive from some of Guanacaste’s most stunning beaches, including:
- Playa Avellanas (10 minutes)
- Playa Negra (15 minutes)
Tamarindo, a vibrant tourist town with numerous restaurants, shops, and nightlife options, is less than 20 minutes away. Liberia International Airport is approximately a one-hour drive from the property.

We had a great stay and I'd gladly consider booking here again. The backyard and patio area was just such a comfortable peaceful place to take in the expansive view. The view is 10/10 and alone justifies a stay here. The house is well laid out and comfortable and was well cared for upon our arrival. And any questions we had the host answered quickly. It is a legit 25-30 minutes to the closest beach unless you're on a dirt bike... Expect that going in - and it's really no big deal. The peacefulness and the view is worth it! Why not five stars? The dishwasher was broken. Pool ladder has rusted off. Deck boards are coming up. Grill is about to fall apart. Low water pressure and one of the bathroom sinks just didn't work. Don't let this sound like it is a dump - it's not. Just needs some frankly typical capital expenses for upkeep. Of them all my biggest complaint is that the front door won't stay locked. It locks but you can still push the door open just by leaning on it. All fixable.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the property has a lot of potential. The house is spacious, the pool was enjoyable, and the location is peaceful and surrounded by nature. We also appreciated having a comfortable space for our group and being close to the beaches. That said, we did experience several issues during our stay that were disappointing. There was a strong cigarette/stale odor on arrival and the dishwasher was broken. The pool jets were not working and we discovered the plumbing area was flooded. The biggest issue was a 12-hour water outage with no alternative bathroom provided. We were concerned that the front door did not securely lock, and a maintenance man arrived without us being notified. The listing also advertises an ocean view, but no ocean is visible from the property, and the beach was considerably farther than the advertised 10 minutes due to the rough dirt roads. We enjoyed our stay overall, but these maintenance, cleanliness and security issues need attention.

A beautiful stay! The setting is super private, a bit far away, but that's exactly why it feels like your own total escape. Every morning we woke up seeing parrots and monkeys, which made the experience much more unique. Private pool, air conditioning in the living room and bedroom, kitchen with everything you need. Super comfortable at all times. It's close to Playa Avellanas to watch the sunset 🌅 Highly recommended if you're looking for peace, nature and to really disconnect!

The stay was a wonderful experience. Francisco, the manager, was very kind, communicated proactively, and gave us clear instructions. Also, they gave us the opportunity to check in early. The place is great. Yes, a 4x4 or an SUV is better since it's in the middle of the mountain. If you are looking for a beautiful place but away from the noise, surrounded by monkeys, this is the place to be. Avellanas Beach is nearby. You can go to Junquillal, Playa Blanca, Playa Callejones, and if you're looking for a good spot for the sunset, go to the viewpoint between Playa Blanca and Calmejones. The house is impeccable, tidy and very well equipped. We would gladly stay here again.

The house is very nice, comfortable and very well equipped. Everything was spotlessly clean, and you can see the care they put into every detail of the cleaning. It's very easy to access and the location is excellent: perfect for relaxing and resting, but at the same time close to several beaches and places to visit. The hosts were always very attentive, friendly and helpful, making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again. Thank you so much for the excellent experience!

Noras’s place was so beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. I look forward to booking our next stay here again! Very remote location but the view and sounds of the area are beyond me! 10/10 Definitely will need some type of SUV tho!
