Banofi Hills is located within the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, near Punta Uva Beach, which was recognized in 2023 as one of the most beautiful beaches worldwide. The surrounding trees are home to various wildlife, including monkeys, toucans, sloths, and kinkajous. Guests are invited to experience the unique charm of this pristine natural environment.
The Space
The house consists of two separate floors, each containing two bedrooms. Every queen bedroom features:
- A private ensuite bathroom
- A personal porch area
- Its own dining table
Elegant Japanese dividers are available to provide privacy on the porch if desired.
A spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator is shared between the two rooms and is located on the top floor.
For stays longer than one week, a weekly cleaning service is included, which covers linen and towel changes (including spares). Guests are responsible for providing their own toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, sponges, and trash bags; however, these items will be supplied upon arrival.

Banofi Hills is well-suited for remote workers and offers the following:
- Two internet connections (Starlink and fiber optic) to maximize connectivity
- Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) connected to all modems and routers, providing approximately 1.5 hours of backup power during outages
Please note that occasional power interruptions may occur due to the jungle location in Costa Rica.

This is honestly one of my favorite Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed at. Nestled deep in the lush jungle, it’s beautifully maintained, super clean, and even gets cleaned once a week. The kitchen has everything you need, and the shower is hot and refreshing. I stayed 1.5 months and I’m coming back for another month because it’s just so recharging and peaceful. The bed is amazing. The desk has a great view, perfect for focusing on my work. Waking up to birds, monkeys, and huge blue butterflies is pure magic. There’s no traffic noise, and I could fully relax in solitude, yet the lively neighborhood and stunning Punta Uva beach were easily reachable by Uber whenever I wanted to go out. Yael is incredible, communicative, and makes you feel at home. If you want a peaceful, nature stay, this is it. 10 stars!

The communication was excellent from the very beginning warm, clear, and reliable. The place offers everything you could need and is set in an absolutely stunning location. I received many helpful tips that made the stay even more enjoyable. I stayed downstairs first and later upstairs, and both have their own unique charm and atmosphere. My personal highlight was cooking while watching the monkeys, an unforgettable experience. There is something truly special about living so deeply immersed in nature it’s peaceful and grounding. I spent three weeks here and the experience was very good overall. The accommodation is comfortable and well-equipped, the Internet connection allowed me to telecommute without any problems. We really find ourselves in the middle of nature, in a peaceful and green setting. On the other hand, the place is a bit isolated, it is better to have a 4x4 to get there more easily and be able to explore the surroundings.

This is a nice little property in a lush jungle setting. The building containing four units must be relatively new, as the features and condition were excellent. I enjoyed the remote location, away from the noisy main road in town where so many of my previous stays in this area have been. I think having a rental car is a huge help, but there are a lot of scooters and ATVs available for rent in and around Puerto Viejo. I like renting a car while there, as then it's easy to get from Cahuita down to Manzanillo and all the sites in between. If you just stick to the main drag of Puerto and Cocles, you're missing out. As for the property, the kitchen is basic. I didn't find a lack of A/C a problem as the room can be aired out really well. It's really good to stay in place with airflow in the Caribe. I stayed in one of the two upstairs units, which have a great view of the jungle and the birds swooping around. I'm sure I'll rent this again.

Very cozy home further away from town. Monkeys hang out in the trees in the yard, the kitchen overlooks the jungle woods, and there's a nice little dehumidifier to keep electronics safe from the high humidity which I appreciated. Overall a peaceful getaway. Would recommend renting a moto or something if you stay for more than a few days.

We felt very comfortable in this beautiful jungle house. It is a beautiful environment. Very quiet, here you can relax... listen to the rain, watch monkeys and many other animals and insects. The kitchen is on the terrace and very well equipped. The bed is provided with a mosquito net and also very comfortable. We loved spending the evenings on the terrace. Simply fantastic. We will definitely be back. Pura vida.

This stay is beautiful. I would absolutely recommend & stay again. We saw monkeys, sloths, frogs, beautiful morpho butterflies! It may be a bit much for someone who hasn’t had the experience of staying in nature to such degree. We brought a large net to cover the door area so we could leave the doors open without so many insects coming to welcome us. I would suggest having a vehicle, if possible because it could be a bit of a trek. Your things are subject to mold, so maybe don’t bring your luxury and lavish things. It’s nothing that a wash won’t take care of. Yael was great & responsive. Kate and Igor, the neighbors were really kind. If you can live simply … simply live… you will absolutely enjoy this stay.

Regrettably, my stay turned into a nightmare. I intended to stay a month, possibly six, but left after just nine days due to numerous issues, worsened by unhelpful staff, named Alex. Positives: Yael, the owner, provided helpful remote support. The property boasts natural beauty conducive to healing. However, here's why it merits a 1-star review: The road to the property is treacherous, with gravel, sand, stones, and mud, making vehicle access difficult. Tuk Tuks charge double, and walking is hazardous—I was even attacked by a dog. Lack of hot water and a broken kettle, blamed on other guests by Alex, were ongoing issues. Despite Yael's advice to change rooms, Alex's unhelpfulness and rudeness persisted, culminating in a threatening encounter where he boasted of being an MMA fighter. On May 24th, there was no water at all, and staff were absent. By May 26th, a power failure compounded the issue, leaving me without electricity, internet, or water. I had to relocate. Bad experience!

If you want to feel nature and listen to the chimpanzees you have to come to this place. Yael's place is a very quiet and peaceful place. I loved everything about the place. They have an open kitchen. You enjoy cooking while listening to and watching the animals. I'm staying for a month and Yael was very detailed and made us feel at home, thank you for the nice experience at your place
