Elevated 7 meters above the ground, this minimalist treehouse immerses you in jungle views, sunrise light, and howler monkey calls. Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms near Tamarindo.
The Space
The OHHOUSE offers a unique retreat surrounded by untouched nature, where you can experience wild howler monkeys and breathtaking sunrises. This light-filled, minimalist home is constructed from wood, concrete, metal, and glass. Elevated on stilts seven meters above the ground, it blends seamlessly with the branches and canopies of the nearby trees.
The architecture is designed to immerse guests in the jungle environment. In the bedrooms, three of the four walls are fully glazed, allowing for expansive views. Instead of a concrete ceiling, wild plants in the courtyard provide natural shade. The glass front in the living area can be opened to merge the terrace, infinity pool, and lounge into one expansive space.
This deep connection to nature extends beyond design into a holistic sustainability approach. Solar panels on the roof supply electricity, and the infinity pool uses salt water rather than chlorine.
Location
If you desire a break from tranquility and want to visit a lively town, Tamarindo is just three kilometers away. Known for its variety of restaurants, bars, and numerous nearby surf spots, it offers a vibrant contrast to the peaceful surroundings of the OHHOUSE.
Important Information
- If you prefer not to wake up with the first light or the sounds of howler monkeys greeting the sunrise, bringing a sleeping mask is recommended.
- Bedroom windows have curtains, but the rooms cannot be completely darkened.
Safety Notice
Due to the architectural design, the house is elevated seven meters above the ground and features open corridors, exposed edges, high balconies, and steep stairs. These elements may pose safety concerns, making the home potentially unsuitable for children under 15 years old.

The house was amazing!!! It was very peaceful and private, but very close to Tamarindo downtown, we loved it! Will definitely be coming back.

This Airbnb easily made it into our top five stays around the world. We’ve stayed in a LOT of Airbnbs, and this place seriously raised the bar. Everything about it was incredible, and I already know I’ll be coming back here the next time I’m in Tamarindo. 🤍

We absolutely loved our stay! The pictures do not do the house justice. It was beautiful inside and out. The highlight for us was the salt water pool and it was always the perfect temperature any time of day or night. During the day and early evenings there were howler monkeys hanging out in the trees right next to the house, and at night, bats would come swooping down to grab water from the pool. Seeing the wildlife around the house and the surrounding environment was truly magical and something I will never forget. The spot is a bit tricky to get to as you have to take a steep dirt road, but a 4x4 can handle it. The location is super peaceful and quiet and just a quick 10 minute drive outside of town. Highly recommend

The treehouse is stunning and quiet. A slice of heaven. It’s the perfect sanctuary to read a book, do yoga, and rest after a long day of activities. Easy to uber in and out.

This property is a few minutes’ drive from Tamarindo. The architecture is beautiful, with many glass walls, nice furnishings, and comfy beds. You are surrounded on all sides by treetops, which is peaceful . They have grown since the listing pictures and there is no longer a valley view. The biggest thing to know is that the home is designed so that the entire middle area of the home is outside, including the bathrooms and single shower. You are in the jungle, so this means encountering flying beetles, mosquitos, spiders, and geckos, especially using the bathroom after dark. It gave the experience a luxury camping feel. This design also affects the feeling of security. You go in through a locked gate, up stairs, and you are in the middle of the house. There is no true ‘front door’. The kitchen and each bedroom have separate locks. It felt less secure than a traditional house. It wasn’t the right fit. After initially refusing, the owner processed a partial refund. I appreciated that

Definitely better in theory.. we were disappointed by how many bugs insects and other critters we had to deal with we couldn’t use any of the lights in the house or in the bathrooms without getting swarmed at night. They were able to crawl in through the doors and get into the bedrooms. Large spiders. Hard to get to the pool wasn’t clean. We wished we had stayed somewhere else.

The photos didn't do it justice. We were extremely impressed with everything about the property and Gladys was super responsive anytime we needed her. I could not recommend it more highly!

We had a great stay at Gladys’ place and would definitely come back. Waking up to the sounds of the birds and wildlife each morning was one of our favorite parts. The property is a bit tucked away, but after the first drive it was easy to find. It’s also conveniently close to plenty of great restaurants. We highly recommend staying here!
