Sandstar (Villas Iguana A-13) is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom condo located in the heart of the wave-rich Tola region, directly on the sand. This well-appointed condo is situated at the north end of Playa Colorado, with a river and Los Perros point to the north and two quality waves a short walk to the south (Panga Drops and Colorado beach break).

The master bedroom contains a king bed that can be converted to two singles upon request. The guest bedroom features two single beds that can be joined to make a king. The condo is equipped with a safe for your valuables, hot water, WiFi, smart TV, and a barbecue. Cleaning service (three times per week) is included in the rental, and an optional meal plan service is available. Please note that the housekeeping staff will handle any laundry, as they are the only ones with access to the washer and dryer in the house. This service is included with your stay. Relax by the shared pool overlooking the ocean.

Location

This home is located within the Hacienda Iguana development, which is known for its world-class surf breaks. There are four surf breaks within walking distance: Playa Colorado, Panga Drops, and Los Perros are in the neighborhood, while Playa Amarillo is to the south of Playa Colorado (walkable at low tide). The area also features a beautiful 9-hole golf course that is well-designed, beautifully maintained, and affordable for guests.

Food Supplies

The best place to get groceries is La Colonia in Rivas, located 100 meters south of the turn-off for Tola on the right (west) side of the street. While in Rivas, you should also refuel your vehicle, as these are the closest gas stations to where you are staying. We highly recommend stocking up on all or as many groceries as you will need for your entire stay. If you prefer not to deal with planning, shopping, and preparing meals, ask us about booking the meal plan, our full-service catering option.

Eating Out

There are several great food options within the Hacienda Iguana development. The most visited and only beachfront option is Pili's Kitchen, located at the Beach Club in front of the Colorado Break. It offers a variety of fresh foods, juices, smoothies, and a full bar.

Other dining options include:

• The Salty Koala in La Joya, serving amazing Asian cuisine and craft cocktails.
• Casa Ananas, located above our office, offering authentic Italian cuisine, pizza, and daily international specials.
• Downtown Iguana, next to our office/surf shop, serving seafood and authentic Nicaraguan cuisine at a fair price.
• Scoops and Spokes, across the street, known for homemade ice cream, good coffee, baked goods, paninis, and fresh juices.
• Iguana Brewery, offering sports bar fare and local craft beer.

Shopping

We have a well-stocked store (NSR Surf Shop) located inside the Hacienda Iguana development, offering souvenirs, surf accessories, clothing, beach towels, flip flops, sunscreen, sunglasses, swimsuits, wetsuit vests and tops, rash guards, and more. We also rent scooters, dirt bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, and stand-up paddleboards from this location.

Other businesses in the Hacienda Iguana community include Pure Spa, two small convenience stores with a variety of grocery items, and an ATM located on the property. Additional activities in the development include yoga, horseback riding, and in-home massage. The Riviera commercial plaza is located within half a mile of the Hacienda Iguana entrance, featuring BAC bank with an ATM, a small grocery store (with the basics), and Bagels and Bakes, a cafe with daily home-baked goods and coffee.

Getting Around

This property is located a 2 to 2.5-hour drive from the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua and approximately 4 hours from the Liberia airport in Costa Rica. Most major vehicle rental agencies have locations at the Managua airport, and we recommend making a reservation in advance. If renting a vehicle, a 4WD is only necessary if planning to travel to some of the beaches further south (in the San Juan del Sur area).

If you prefer not to rent a vehicle, we can arrange airport transportation and daily sightseeing/surf trips. Motorcycle and scooter rentals are available, and we can also arrange vehicle and boat transport to other surf breaks in the area. There is also the option of renting a vehicle from Alamo and National, which has an office next to Hacienda Iguana.
