Additional Information
Please review the following before booking:
- There may be occasional noise from construction behind the property. Construction noise is common throughout Costa Rica, especially in popular beach towns. While generally quiet, we cannot guarantee complete silence during your stay. Our nightly rate reflects this consideration.
- The house is built on a hillside with a sloped parking area; we recommend using an ATV or 4x4 vehicle during your visit.
- There are stairs leading up to the house and an internal staircase, so guests should be able to climb stairs comfortably.
- Although family-friendly, the home is an adventure-style property with a balcony wrapping around the entire house. It is not recommended for toddlers or young children who tend to climb railings due to the height. Our own children aged 6 to 7 have enjoyed it safely.
- Temporary outages of power, water, or internet can occur in this region. We provide a large backup water tank (sufficient for three days) and LED lanterns for emergencies.
- Water pressure is generally lower than in major North American cities.
- The biodiverse environment means you may encounter local wildlife such as monkeys, crabs, lizards, and exotic insects. At night, moths attracted to lights and geckos hunting bugs are common sights.
These elements are part of the authentic Costa Rican experience, adding to the charm and adventure of your stay. We strive to make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible but cannot offer refunds for outages, adverse weather, insects, or construction noise. Thank you for understanding.

We had such a great stay! Beautiful location and truly a treat to be in such a unique and well designed place. They were kind enough to give us plenty of local contacts for dirt bikes, fishing, transportation and food. We like how we weren’t in the thick of Santa Teresa but also close enough that it was convenient to get into town. We even got a surprise visit from monkeys!

An incredible house in a beautiful part of the world. The house's design and furnishing really fit in with the Mal Pais vibe. And Kyle, the property manager, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to feel like locals, not just tourists. A magical trip, my only regret is we didn't stay longer.

We absolutely loved staying here. The open layout of the house was amazing and made the entire space feel so inviting and connected to nature. Being surrounded by greenery was such a refreshing experience, and we even got to see some cute monkeys during our stay, which made it feel extra special and memorable. At night, you could hear little animals outside, but we always felt completely safe and comfortable in the home. It truly felt like a peaceful escape while still being well taken care of. The house manager was incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful. They were very responsive, helped us unlock a door quickly, and were so friendly throughout our stay. That level of care really made a difference. Overall, this place was beautiful, relaxing, and thoughtfully managed. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nature-filled getaway with great hospitality.

This house is truly breathtaking, especially the open-plan kitchen and living area, which offers a stunning, panoramic view of the ocean. The home is tastefully designed and well-equipped, and whenever we needed anything, Kyle was extremely responsive. He also shared some excellent restaurant recommendations around Santa Teresa, which we really appreciated!. this place has a rustic atmosphere and lovely feel for it. If you\re shivering in West London or Chicago in December, contact Judita and book NOW! Minor A/C snafu fixed within hours! Both Judita and Kyle super-responsive & friendly. Kyle is based locally and always available to come over. A great place. Than you Judita & Kyle! Micheal, Elena & Nadia
