Overview

Share the entire home with just the two of you and enjoy the privacy and price of a hotel room with the lifestyle of a modern villa. From this hidden hill, you can walk to town in 4 minutes and reach the beach in 6 minutes.

Colina Escondida, or “Hidden Hill,” offers a convenient location, thoughtful luxuries, and excellent value for 1–4 travelers. Although the home is close to downtown and the beach, its elevated position provides a peaceful retreat with beautiful views.

The Space

There are no Airbnb fees, cleaning fees, cleaning chores, or air-conditioning fees at Colina Escondida. A second bedroom is also available for groups that need additional space.

Backup Systems

• An 8,000-liter water tank helps provide backup water storage, as San Juan del Sur and many other homes can occasionally run out of water.
• Multiple uninterruptible power supply batteries keep the high-speed fiber Wi-Fi running for several hours during short power outages.

Bedrooms and Bathroom

The bedrooms are located at the opposite end of the home for added sound privacy. Each bedroom includes:

• A queen bed
• LG air conditioning
• A ceiling fan
• Screened windows
• A freestanding closet

The attached Jack-and-Jill bathroom is private to your group and divided into three separate areas:

• A bathroom with a bidet
• A hot outdoor shower
• A powder room with two sinks

This layout allows everyone to get ready at the same time without delays.

Kitchen and Living Room

The shared kitchen and living room feature a spacious, open layout. The kitchen includes:

• Ample countertop space
• A dishwasher
• A three-person preparation table
• A six-burner gas stove
• A variety of kitchen tools, appliances, amenities, and spices

The living area offers:

• A loveseat
• Chairs
• A coffee table
• A comfortable office desk and chair
• Hardwired internet

The open-plan living room and kitchen do not have air conditioning, but two powerful ceiling fans provide a direct breeze. Screened windows and patio doors allow for cross-ventilation.

This is our home as well as a rental, so we keep it well stocked and equipped for cooking.

Covered Outdoor Patio

The shared covered patio includes:

• A shaded dining area with a table and countertop seating for 6–8 people
• A large sink
• A gas grill with a side burner
• An outdoor cushioned daybed that separates into a sofa with seats

Saltwater Pool

A few steps up the hill behind the house, the shared saltwater pool and patio overlook downtown. An additional bathroom and outdoor shower are located beside the pool.

The pool is shared with the hosts and guests staying in the studio cabaña, the smaller home on the mini-villa property.

Freshwater Plunge Tub

At the top of the property, the shared freshwater plunge tub provides a non-heated hot-tub-style lounge area for 6–8 people. Enjoy views of the beach, bustling town, and sunsets while soaking up the sun or moonlight.

Guest Access

Guests have access to:

• The fully equipped kitchen, including appliances, tools, amenities, and spices
• Indoor and outdoor lounge areas
• The daybed
• The office nook
• The gas grill
• The outdoor dining area
• The saltwater pool
• The freshwater plunge tub

Parking

Private parking is not available at the downtown home. Small spaces are available only for motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles.

Free public street parking can be found:

• 50 meters away at the top of the street
• 80 meters away at the bottom of the hill

Secured paid parking is also available near the beach. Contact us with any parking questions.

Bedroom Options

• One bedroom is available for solo travelers or groups of two.
• Two bedrooms are available for groups of 2–4 travelers.
• Guests can also reserve the entire home for additional privacy and access to all three bedrooms.
• The studio cabaña is another accommodation option on the property.

During Your Stay

Communication

Message us through the Airbnb app. We are happy to answer questions about the home, explain how anything works, or recommend places and services in town so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying your vacation.

Groundskeeper

Manuel is sometimes available to address concerns or problems in person. He helped build both homes and knows a great deal about San Juan del Sur and the surrounding area.

He cleans the pool most mornings and handles landscaping and maintenance around the property 3–4 days per week. He can also help with errands or pick up items. Manuel is currently learning English.

Hosts

We are friendly and sociable hosts who enjoy welcoming guests and introducing them to town when desired. We are happy to interact as much or as little as you prefer.

Other Things to Note

Steep Hill

The home sits 35 meters above sea level and requires a brief but steep climb. Healthy travelers can walk up to the home in approximately 2 minutes.

Although the elevated views and central location are rewarding, the climb may be impractical for people with:

• Asthma
• Heart or breathing conditions
• Knee problems
• Injuries
• Walking difficulties

Please let us know that you and your fellow travelers are comfortable with this short but vigorous climb.
