This place is special - the pictures don’t do it justice! It feels very private and the beach access was really convenient. Sarah was a fantastic host, always responsive and helpful. Loved my time here and will definitely be back.

The villa and grounds were beautiful. There was a lot of noise from close neighbors, construction equipment driving by and a barking dog. The howler monkeys were nice, though.😊

We had a great time over the 4 short days we spent here. The layout and space were perfect for our needs, the surroundings were absolutely beautiful and you can’t beat walkable to the beach!

The space was honestly better than the pictures ! We were kind of shocked how nice it was when we arrived. the space was super clean. We found playa negra wasn't our fave beach but all good. Very comfortable and private place to stay. Got to see lots of wildlife above the space too. Thank you xx

My husband and I stayed over New Years at Sarah’s place and had a great time! The city was lively, the food was great, and the Caribbean coast was beautiful. The place was very true to photos and we felt safe and comfortable for our entire stay. We booked Chef David for dinner one night and absolutely loved him and the food. I can’t recommend that experience enough! Sarah was so helpful and responsive whenever we needed anything at all. We walked to the store for morning coffees and a lunch at Banana Azul, so if Puerto Viejo is too busy you can stay in the neighborhood and get most of what you need! The only issue we had was fairly loud neighbors throughout the week but Sarah provided earplugs (that actually work) and it’s to be expected over the holidays, so don’t let that discourage you from picking this place! I would recommend to others in the future, and would definitely come back if she would have us!

We had a wonderful week at Sarah’s place. The house is really beautiful and very comfortable. Juan, who is there on site, is discreet but always available and helpful whenever needed. The cleaning was also perfect. You just need to be a bit lucky with the neighbors, as they can sometimes be noisy. Apart from that, everything was great, we really enjoyed our stay. My sister and I spent two unforgettable weeks at Casa Pilón Villa, and it was absolute perfection from start to finish. The home is even more beautiful than the photos. It was serene, elegant, and surrounded by lush jungle that makes you feel completely immersed in nature. We spotted sloths, toucans, and huge iguanas right from the deck. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, from the open-air living spaces and tranquil fountain to the plunge pool that quickly became our favorite place to unwind. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable with soft linens, king beds, and cool air conditioning, a real luxury in the tropics. We loved how the villa offered both privacy and shared spaces, so we could relax together or enjoy quiet time separately. The private walkway to Playa Negra made it easy to slip down to the beach in just minutes. If you’re looking for peace, comfort, and pure tropical beauty, Casa Pilón Villa is the perfect choice. This is a paradise villa on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica! It's modern, comfortable, clean, and you are also fully surrounded by nature. A hummingbird lives in the garden, four iguanas live on a nearby tree, and a sloth lives on another neighboring tree—you can spot them all if you are attentive! We were on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica 12 years ago and loved the closeness to nature and its richness, but most places were like hostels or small, three-star hotels. This place is five-star and you also get private access to the beach, just a three-minute walk away! Sarah and Jim are super helpful and gave us absolutely top recommendations for places to eat and things to do. We highly recommend a true jungle nature walk with Alex (ask Sarah for contact) and horseback riding with Aventuras Vaqueras (ask Sarah for contact). We are coming back!

We had such an amazing time at Sarah’s place! Very serene and less than 3 minute walk to the beach. There is so much to do in this area and rides to town are easy to coordinate with Banana Azul hotel just down the street (or you can rent bikes or drive). The Banana Azul hotel also has a great restaurant right on the beach. The bedroom villa has a wall air conditioner and fan above the bed, so it was very cool at night. It was so amazing to wake up to the monkeys and toucans every morning. Sarah also helped to arrange massages and an incredible meal by Chef David. I can’t say enough good things about our stay we’ll definitely be back.
