The Space
Custom-designed in 2003 by esteemed San Miguel architect Juan Carlos Valdez, the home reflects the ancient hacienda style and is arranged around a central courtyard with a fountain. The villa was featured in the Rizzoli book Haciendas: Spanish Colonial Houses in the U.S. and Mexico.
Each room includes distinctive materials and architectural details. Features include tile from Dolores Hidalgo, a front door from China, and a living room door from Afghanistan. The shutter details were inspired by a monastery in Zacatecas. Guanajuato stone and wood from Durango, Mexico, complement the vaulted and domed brick boveda ceilings.
Artisan craftsmanship can be found throughout the home, including carved cabinets, hand-wrought iron gates, and railings. The interiors are decorated with Mexican folk art, paintings, and stone carvings.
The main entrance opens onto a quiet residential street. A garden gate leads to the beautiful private gardens of Villas del Parque, which include a gazebo. From there, guests can walk toward Parque Juarez or continue to the Parroquia Church in the heart of town.
This is our second home, and we enjoy spending time here with family and friends whenever possible.
When we make spontaneous trips to San Miguel de Allende and Casa de Hypatia is occupied, we stay at its smaller sister property, Casa Escondida. Designed by the same architect, it is a more intimate home in a different neighborhood and is also available for booking:

Additional Information
Only registered guests may enter the Villas del Parque complex. Before arrival, please provide the names of every member of your group.
Staff Tipping
As is customary in Mexico, we kindly ask guests to tip our wonderful staff at the end of their stay. The amount is entirely up to you, but we recommend the peso equivalent of $4–$5 per room, per day, for each of Alicia and Miguel. You may adjust the amount depending on your experience and the services they provide.

This place is beyond fabulous. Every room is perfect. It was hard to decide who was going to sleep where because each room was just that great!! The no AC was not an issue, the rooms were all breeze and the fans helped. It was great to wake up with the breeze and sun. Ezster was so easy to work with helped us with all of our check-in needs and Miguel and Alicia who work at the house are incredible chefs and just wonderful to be around. I couldn’t recommend this place more!!! Fabulous birthday trip!

Treat yourself to a beautiful experience, in a beautiful and quaint city, with the most lovely people, in the most wonderful home in San Miguel de Allende. Our hosts were always there for a question or three with an immediate response. When we arrived later than expected, our hosts notified the housekeeper and she was there with a smile as she showed us around this magnificent home that we were fortunate to be pampered in for a few days. The icing on the cake was watching the Olympics in the media room, the exercise room which was better than many hotels and lounging in the pool. The food was amazing and the art was fabulous! Many wonderful local artists. We hope to bring our extended family back here one day soon.

This house is truly amazing for a group. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished, the layout is perfect for multiple families, and the views are simply incredible. It is an easy walk to the main square. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be heading back to SMA in the near future and would love to stay at Casa de Hypatia again. With all sincerity, this is the nicest vacation home we have ever stayed in.

This casa is truly a paradise on Earth — no pictures can capture its beauty or the sense of peace it offers. Our stay was absolutely wonderful and filled with joy. Eszter is an exceptional host, and working with her has been a pleasure from start to finish. We are deeply grateful to her for welcoming us to this beautiful home in which she has poured her heart. We are also very thankful to the entire staff at this Casa, who were consistently kind, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We would love to return again and again. Thank you again Eszter! Your home was a magical place for all of us to restore and relax before the holidays! I would love to bring the group back again next year! Every detail of your home is exquisite ...the finishes, furnishings, light fixtures, the ceilings, the masonry, tile work! Wow!!! Everyday I found something new to appreciate and the views from the bedroom balconies were magnificent! The photos do not do it justice! A dip in the heated pool was a beautiful way to start and end the day! The location...walking distance to town was A+! As a group of women we felt very comfortable, safe and secure in your home! Thank you again!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

Renting Eszter's house is to immerse yourself in San Miguel de Allende. The house is a treat -- worth every penny and easily hosts 10 people without "crowding." There are plenty of nooks and crannies and terraces for those who seek privacy. Location is great, but wear solid shoes/sandals . Everything in SMA is very casual and walking is fun if you are wearing the right shoes. Eszter's staff are lovely, capable and unobtrusive but there when you need them. I can't recommend this rental too highly.

Photos just don't do it justice! We came down for a wedding, and ended up with the best property in the area. It's so much bigger and expansive than we would have thought. Most things are walkable, great nearby restaurants. There were fireplaces (remote controlled) in almost every room including bathrooms! Movie theater, pool table and gym were a hit! Thank you guys 😁
