Important Details
Classic Charm
Los Castillos was built in 1989 and renovated in 2000. The villa offers character and generous space for large groups, although it may not feature the latest modern finishes. We work diligently to keep the property clean and well maintained.
Tropical Living
Because of the humidity, sun, and salt air, older homes in Playa del Carmen may occasionally require maintenance. If an issue arises during your stay, our dedicated local team is ready to address it promptly.
Groceries and Beverages
Groceries, drinking water, and other beverages are not provided. We recommend visiting a nearby grocery store upon arrival to purchase everything you need for your stay.
Walkway Safety
A narrow walkway between the pool and the Castillo leads to the rear glass door. When wet, this walkway may become slippery. Guests who prefer a wider or more stable entry point should use the main entrance on the first floor.
Additional Space
This villa is one of two identical Castillos on the property. Groups larger than 25 guests may rent both villas together to accommodate up to 50 guests. Please inquire for more details.
Security Deposit
Because we are connected to Airbnb through API software, we are responsible for damages to the home. A fully refundable security deposit of $1,750 USD or a nonrefundable $69 fee is required outside the Airbnb platform. This will appear in your Airbnb checkout details just below the total.

Excellent location, right on 5th Avenue! Within steps we had access to restaurants, bars, shopping, food stands, local vendors, and convenience stores. Within steps we also had access to the beach, tour booths, bus stops, and a ferry terminal. Wal-mart was a short 15 minute walk.

We had a really great stay overall. The check-in process was smooth and communication with the hosts was excellent. They were quick to respond and even stopped by to help when needed. The location was perfect, close to both the beach and the main hotel area. As a few other guests mentioned, some parts of the apartment are a little worn down, and the standards are more in line with what you’d expect in Mexico rather than the U.S. We paid our deposit and were a little nervous because of those worn areas and a few things that weren’t functioning properly, wondering if it might cause a problem. Ultimately, we got the deposit back without any hassle, and everything worked out great. Overall, we had a really fun time, everything functioned as it should, and the hosts were wonderful to work with. We’d happily stay again.

Great place to stay and close to everything. There’s a taxi stand across the street which made getting around really easy. The mall is right next door and plenty for places to eat and drink that are walkable. The hosts were great to accommodate to all our needs. I would recommend anyone to stay there.

Overall great experience. If possible, I’d give 4.5 stars. The house is very much as described. It’s a bit dated and needs work in some areas, which we were expecting. It’s spacious though and gives room for your group to have privacy. Everything worked as expected. Absolutely perfect location as well, which is what was most important to us. One note is that this is a shared property and you won’t know your neighbors’ manners until you arrive. The large family next door loudly took over the pool from very early AM each day. There’s a very narrow walkway to the back door when you’re returning home and it was often covered in the neighbors’ kids pool toys or shoes resulting in a precarious walk after returning late at night. Other than that, the stay could have been improved by allowing an earlier check in, having a few extra towels on hand (since those provided aren’t very absorbent), and cleaning up the rooftop pool area.
