A remodeled 2-bedroom cottage with a unique bakery-to-home history, Posada de Santiago offers access to a shared pool, hot tub, sauna, dock, and boats in Santiago Atitlan.
The Space
Relax in our home at Posada de Santiago, a community of 10 private residences that share access to:
- Swimming pool
- Hot tub
- Sauna
- Dock
- Boats
Our house is a unique space with an unusual history. It was formerly a bakery and later served as a massage room before becoming a private home. The property has been completely remodeled using the work of local artisans to create a comfortable, functional environment.
Guest Access
The community is divided into two areas. The section between the lake and the road is known as the “playa,” where you can access the shared amenities:
- Swimming pool
- Hot tub
- Sauna
- Dock
- Boats
Above the road are Restaurante Posada de Santiago and the entrance to the community. A private road leads uphill to all of the homes.
Other Details
The house is private and set back from the road, with gardens at the front.

Sarah’s house and the attached amenities were lovely and peaceful. We had a great time visiting Santiago and the market and then spending afternoons at the pool or kayaking in the lake. Air quality was poor while we were there (dry season), but certainly nothing Sarah can control!

Photos do not really do justice to the natural beauty of this property, it's incredibly beautiful!!! Walking distance to town. Food at the restaurant was great, especially the blue corn pancakes! Local markets were unique with large indigenous population that was very friendly to tourist ❤️❤️❤️

We loved staying at Casa Pájaros! It was super comfortable and had everything we needed. I hadn’t understood from the description that there isn’t a view of the lake from the Casa itself, but it was just a short walk away. We really enjoyed using the hot tub, sauna, and kayaks. The road between the casa area and the lake area is fairly busy which makes it easy to catch rides to town when needed. There is a water treatment plant a little ways down the road, which is a bit noisy when you’re out on the water in front of the property. Sarah was a wonderful host - responsive and helpful. Overall, we loved Casa Pájaros! Thanks, Sarah.
