The Space

Ometepe Casitas offers a cabin with a private kitchen located on a tranquil and picturesque lakefront property in El Peru, Ometepe. Guests can enjoy swimming at the calm beach while taking in beautiful views of both Maderas and Concepcion Volcanoes. Kayaks are available for rent to paddle up the Istian River. You can also rent a scooter to explore the island or simply relax on the beach or terrace, watching the sunset as monkeys and hundreds of birds and parrots return to the nearby trees.

The property includes a lakefront house with a second-floor terrace accessible to guests, a beach gazebo, parking space, and three casitas spaced about 6 meters apart. Each casita accommodates two guests. For larger groups, the other two tiny homes are located nearby on the map.

Location and Access

The casitas are situated on an island that is a natural reserve, surrounded by abundant wildlife including insects, mammals, birds, and reptiles. The 700-meter dirt road leading to the property is mostly flat and better maintained than many other island roads, but after heavy rains, some rocky patches may appear. Driving slowly is advised, and a vehicle with slightly higher clearance is beneficial.

Important Notes

Power outages are common during heavy rains, strong winds, or routine network maintenance. The property is equipped with rechargeable fans and lights to help during these times. Although the island’s internet may be affected by extreme weather, solar-powered routers help maintain connectivity.

As the island is a natural reserve, some insects and small wildlife may occasionally enter the indoor spaces despite efforts to bug-proof the casitas. You might encounter ants, geckos, or occasionally non-dangerous scorpions or spiders. It is recommended to keep doors closed to prevent flying insects from entering. If you find any threatening insects, you can remove them safely.

Please be aware that during the rainy season, the dirt road to the property may become rough in spots, so caution is advised when driving.
