The Space
Escondido Retreat is a brand-new, two-story home designed for romantic getaways, yoga retreats, family reunions, and gatherings with friends.
The lush tropical gardens provide a peaceful setting where you may spot some of Costa Rica’s famous wildlife. At the heart of the property is a private pool with comfortable chairs at the shallow end, perfect for cooling off or relaxing in the sun.
The ground floor includes:

The property itself is beautiful and was a great fit for our family. We loved the spacious bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, and private pool. Note that it is a bit off the beaten path but manageable with a car. Also, note that raccoons will enter the property nightly looking for food no matter how much you try and keep it locked away. The low rating is based on our experience with the host/property manager. Initially, we had a small miscommunication during our stay where we were inaccurately blamed for a noise complaint, but that was cleared up and they apologized. Upon checkout, we were once again inaccurately blamed AND charged for absurd line items like dirty towels and extra cleaning fees. My family and I truly treated their home with care so we’re still in shock by these false complaints. Beautiful property, but unfortunately the experience with the host overshadowed the positives.

This is a lovely house with comfortable bedrooms, a beautiful pool, and a lush garden. The kitchen is open plan, which is nice, but we had the inconvenience of raccoons coming in at night looking for food. We suggest providing a closed pantry. The dining room table does not have enough benches for all the people who may be in the house to sit together to eat. The armchairs are not comfortable, and the ones in the game room are incredibly uncomfortable. We suggest having emergency lights due to the relatively frequent power outages in the area. And our worst experience was with the water quality. It smelled bad. We don't know if it's always like this or if the storage tank was dirty. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was horrible to bathe in that water. In the kitchen, they have a clay filter that works very well, but that water is not enough for everything.

The home itself is beautiful, very private. The home was not equipped with basic kitchen needs, can opener, baking dish, Tupperware , not enough silverware to accommodate 8 guests or chairs for us to eat at together. No cleaning supplies on site or dish soap or dish towels. Front gate did not work or stay locked.

The place is great for groups and mostly well maintained. The quiet location, the modern construction, the convivial layout and the beautiful pool stand out in particular. Communication went smoothly and was quick to respond. The only "criticism" we can give is, for example, the lack of table football and the dartboard and that a few locks did not work properly - but that was still no problem. We definitely recommend the place 100%.
