The Space

Our family home is set within a legally protected private reserve, surrounded by jungle, ocean, and islands. More than a house, it offers an immersive experience where you can wake to howler monkeys, birdsong, frogs, iguanas, and other wildlife.

The property lies between two mountains on a unique peninsula. At high tide, the ocean forms a beautiful private beach, creating a peaceful and magical setting.

Because the reserve is protected by environmental laws, all construction and infrastructure must meet standards designed to preserve the surrounding ecosystem. The home was thoughtfully built with natural wood, while its water, electricity, and other systems were carefully designed for this protected environment. Creating a comfortable home while respecting these regulations has been a true labor of love.

Here, the jungle meets the sea. Wake up to breathtaking sunrises and the ever-changing sounds, skies, and tropical weather. During a full moon, watching the moon rise over the ocean from the front yard and illuminate the water is an unforgettable experience.

This peaceful, family-friendly retreat is far from crowds and tourist hotspots. Nature sets the pace, and every day brings something different.

The property is directly across from Isla Gitana, which is approximately a five-minute kayak ride away. Complimentary kayaks and paddleboards are provided so you can explore the coastline and nearby islands at your own pace.

Spend the day discovering the area by land or sea:

• Arrange a boat trip to Isla Chiquita for lunch.
• Visit Playa Quesera or Playa Nancital and look for spider monkeys.
• Explore Curu Wildlife Refuge.
• Hike to the Montezuma Waterfalls.
• Discover secluded beaches such as Playa Blanca and Playa Muertos.

There are places you visit and places you remember forever. This is one of them—a chance to experience the heart of Costa Rica, where the jungle meets the sea and nature becomes part of everyday life.

Guest Access

Guests have private access to the entire property, including:

• Gardens
• Pool
• Beachfront
• Kayaks
• Paddleboards

I do not live in the area, so you can enjoy complete privacy throughout your stay.

Before You Arrive

The home is located on a peaceful peninsula surrounded by tropical jungle and nature. This is a rural area, so we recommend arriving prepared to make the most of your stay.

Transportation

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended for the most comfortable journey. However, many guests have reached the property in standard cars without any problems. The best option ultimately depends on the driver’s experience and comfort level.

Groceries

We recommend purchasing groceries before arriving.

If you are traveling from San José or Liberia, you can shop there before your trip. The most convenient option is Mega Super Paquera, located approximately 15 minutes from the house.

A Banco de Costa Rica ATM is located next to Mega Super. Paquera also has another supermarket, Pali, where you can find most essentials.

GPS

We strongly recommend using Waze instead of Google Maps, as it provides more accurate directions in this area.

Accessibility

The home is wheelchair-friendly.

A portable wheelchair ramp is available for access to the bedroom and beach. Please let us know in advance if you will need it.

Pets

Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

If you plan to bring a pet, please let us know before arrival. We usually accept up to two dogs, although exceptions may be possible upon request.

Pets must be friendly, well supervised, and respectful of the surrounding wildlife.

Many wonderful restaurants, beaches, islands, and activities can be reached easily by car or boat.

Please note that some boat taxis, local businesses, and tour operators accept cash only. We recommend confirming payment options in advance.

A Few Things to Remember

One of the most special parts of staying here is experiencing nature as it is. You will hear monkeys, tropical birds, frogs, insects, and the many sounds of the jungle. During the rainy season, tropical showers and thunderstorms are part of the experience and create an unforgettable atmosphere.

This is not a luxury resort separated from nature. It is an authentic Costa Rican jungle experience, where the rainforest and ocean exist side by side.

If you are looking for polished perfection, this may not be the place for you. But if you are seeking authenticity, peace, and an extraordinary connection with nature, welcome home.
