We really enjoyed our stay at this unique beach house. The proximity to the beach is almost unbeatable for this area. It’s a short drive outside of Uvita center, but still very easy to get to stores, restaurants, and all the fun things to do in the area. We loved all the tropical wildlife we were able to see right outside the front door - macaws, toucans, and even a sloth! David and Natalia were great hosts too. They were very helpful and so quick to respond to any message we sent them. Highly recommend!!

Private, safe, clean and tidy Lots of tranquility Beach access is in good condition and is a few meters away House with enough accessibility for people with mobility issues/older adults Plenty of space, comfort and safety for pets Great wifi Take into account: it is a little difficult to get to the beach with older adults or people with physical difficulties No microwave

The stay at Playa Ballena was very enjoyable. Natalia was very helpful in getting us set up and providing us with recommendations of where to visit and when. Going to the beach takes planning due to the tide, and Natalia was kind enough to provide us with a tide chart to help us with planning our outings to Arco as well as the time there. We were lucky to see toucan, macaws, howler monkey's and much more, right at the house. Its a peaceful place away from the road and surrounded by trees and a field. I recommend this house if you want to be away from town.

Many people have spoken about the positive vibes of the location and the hosts. But on our last night someone broke into the house, stole a cooler, money, etc. which painted a dark cloud over the entire experience. I live in Costa Rica and understand petty crimes/breakins. I understand this wasn't their fault. But the host had been warned that there were robbers in the area, and even after I provided low-cost immediately available solutions, they did nothing, and therefore we were sitting ducks. No tools for defense or dissuasion. For a fractions of the money they made off of the three rentals, they could have had a guy with a flashlight walk around, and that would have been enough deterrence. But instead, someone broke in while we slept with two young children and stole our stuff. A horrible feeling I don't wish on a young family. If I were a host I would have compensated, but instead I was offered apologies and a week later an offer for a discounted rate if we stayed again.

Staying at David & Natalia’s for the past two years has been a true gift. The home is beautifully designed, very clean and functional with some Balinese hints throughout. They have great taste! They are very responsive and supportive, they truly cared about our experience - it was felt from start to finish. What’s better than the house itself is the surrounding environment. It speaks tranquility through and through, with vast open space, beautiful trees, birds, and privacy. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for serenity and peace of mind whilst being close to great amenities with just a short drive. P.S. if you decide to stay here, definitely check out the bistro right outside the gate and treat yourself to an Agua Dulce.

Wow, this home is on a beautiful piece of land. We didn’t know that it was going to be such an amazing space with private access to the beach. We loved the outdoor shower too! David and Natalia were super accommodating and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant at the end of the street - Bistro Ballena- was also a huge plus! The house itself was simple, clean, and quiet - exactly what we were looking for.

The location of this casa is unique, next to a disused airstrip, within walking distance of the Ballena Bistro which is one of the best restaurants around (and over three weeks, we tried plenty!) and 200 meters from the beach. The casa itself is simple with air conditioned bedrooms and a sparsely stocked kitchen for four people but a stretch for six. The beds are comfortable and there is an outdoor shower to cool off under. Unlike the other two casas, there is no pool. Because the property is large and private there is no passing traffic (except on the main road, which is 500 meters away) and we felt secure and undisturbed by barking dogs, which can be a problem in Costa Rica. However, prepare to be awake early with the dawn chorus of birds, cicadas, howler monkeys and numerous other critters! We loved this casa, despite needing some items that were not provided (extra pillows and kitchen bowls, for example). David was a responsive host and helped when we had requests.
