The cottage accommodates up to four guests across three levels and features:

Casa Nanita is located on a gated property with approximately 150 metres of Chirripó River frontage. The tropical gardens, mountain scenery and sound of rushing water create a tranquil riverside setting.

Main Floor

The main floor includes:

• Outdoor seating and dining area

Open Loft

The airy upper loft features:

• King-size bed
• Comfortable seating
• Dedicated workspace

The loft is open to the living area via the staircase and is not a fully enclosed bedroom. The bathroom is located on the main floor.

Lower-Level Bedroom

Beneath the main terrace, the lower level has a cosy queen bedroom with:

• Separate entrance
• Private en-suite bathroom
• Small workspace

This bedroom provides additional privacy from the main living areas.

Kitchen and Wi-Fi

The kitchen is equipped with:

• Gas stove
• Oven
• Refrigerator
• Coffee-making facilities

Fast Wi-Fi makes longer stays and remote work practical.

Outdoor Areas and Wellness

Enjoy the shared tropical gardens, year-round freshwater plunge pool and riverside setting.

The Bio-Sauna and sun deck offer additional ways to relax. Sauna sessions require advance booking and an extra fee. Massages and yoga may also be arranged upon request, subject to availability and additional charges.

The ornamental water-lily pond is a garden feature, not a swimming pool. Birds, butterflies and other wildlife can often be seen around the property.

Location

Casa Nanita is immersed in nature while remaining within easy walking distance of the mountain village of Canaán.

A five-minute stroll takes you to:

• Artisanal cheeses
• A small grocery store
• A butterfly dome
• A local chocolatier

A short drive leads to San Gerardo de Rivas, the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve, hiking trails, waterfalls, trout farms and the entrance to Chirripó National Park.

Guest Access

Guests have private use of the entire cottage, including:

• Freshwater plunge pool

Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden and pick fresh herbs, vegetables and seasonal fruit when available.

The Bio-Sauna is available by advance reservation for an additional fee. The freshwater plunge pool and spa area are shared between Casa Nanita and Kubla Khan.

When guests reserve a Bio-Sauna session, they receive exclusive use of the sauna, plunge pool and surrounding wellness area for a private two-hour period. Reservations are coordinated between the two houses so each group can enjoy the experience in privacy.

Arrival and Transportation

The access road to Casa Nanita is paved, so a four-wheel-drive vehicle is not required to reach the property.

A car is useful for exploring the region, and a midsize sport utility vehicle can be helpful on mountain roads. Follow the main paved route via San Isidro and Route 242 rather than navigation shortcuts onto unpaved roads.

Arrival during daylight is recommended, particularly in rainy or foggy conditions.

Important Information

Mountain Climate

At approximately 1,200 metres (4,000 feet), days can be pleasantly warm while evenings are cooler. Bring a sweater and be prepared for mist or rain.

River Safety

The Chirripó River is beautiful but powerful, and conditions can change quickly, especially after rain.

Swimming in the main river is not permitted during the rainy season. Please follow all on-site safety guidance.

Bedroom Layout

Casa Nanita has three levels:

• The king-size bed is in an open loft reached by stairs.
• The bathroom for the loft is on the main floor.
• The lower-level queen bedroom has its own entrance and private en-suite bathroom.
• The loft is not a fully enclosed bedroom.

Children and Accessibility

The plunge pool is unfenced, and paths and terrain may be steep, uneven or slippery. The river is also nearby.

Please consider these features when booking for young children or anyone with mobility needs.

Nature and Animals

Tropical insects and wildlife are part of the natural setting. Friendly resident dogs and cats may occasionally visit the outdoor areas. Please do not feed them.

Shared Facilities and Optional Experiences

The gardens, riverfront areas and freshwater plunge pool are shared with the main property.

The Bio-Sauna is available for an additional charge and must be booked at least two hours in advance. Spa treatments, yoga and other wellness services should also be arranged ahead of time.

Sauna Etiquette

During a privately reserved Bio-Sauna session, guests may enjoy the sauna and adjoining plunge pool without swimwear.

Other guests and staff are asked to avoid the wellness area during these sessions to respect your privacy.

At all other times, guests are kindly asked to remain appropriately dressed in the shared gardens, pool area and along the river, out of respect for local customs and others on the property.

Private Dining

An optional five-course, private garden-to-table dining experience is available at the nearby home by advance reservation and for an additional charge.
