We had a great stay at Steve's place in Playa Pelada. Everything worked out fine, great communication with the host. The house itself is lovely, with lots of character, and just off the beach. Would definitely recommend!

Steve’s property is everything we could have imagined and more! We had everything we needed for first time visitors to Costa Rica. Steve held our hands through the whole process! We used a shuttle (that Steve arranged!) from Liberia airport and can recommend that for anyone. Most people around us seemed to rent SUV 4x4 cars. We did just fine with TukTuks and walking! We highly recommend a tuktuk for hot times of day! The yoga pavilion is a perfect spot for peaceful practices. The walk to the beach is so short and lovely! And THE BEACH… sigh…is so magical! Walk to Sunrise coffee and bodega. Super easy walk down the beach to restaurants: La Luna and Olga’s. About a 20-30min beach walk to Howler’s and great shopping in Guiones! We are forever grateful we chose this property and thank Steve for hosting us! We will count the days until we can get back to Playa Pelada… and Steve’s gorgeous oasis! Thank you, Steve!

Lovely unique place in the less developed and more 'Costa Rica' beach. Brilliant hand built craftsmanship structure. Spotless clean. Wood environment. Not for 'city slickers'...but if you've ever owned a cabin cottage or camp or has spent much time in nature you will have found your dream holiday. If you're looking for more developed this isnt the place for you. We were overjoyed that it felt exactly like our island cottage in Northern Ontario but in the tropics. Immediately planned our return visit. Very quiet beach perfect surroundings.

We had a wonderful week at Steve and Julia’s property - the house was beautiful, and we felt happily immersed in the nature of Nosara. Can’t wait to go back!

This was exactly what we were looking for: Tranquil, gorgeous surroundings; quick walk to the beach; wonderful timber architecture; a friendly and responsive host. We loved it and would come back! Oh, and we saw the resident monkey family, including several tiny babies. It was one of the highlights of our stay :)

This place feels really special, worked well for our family of 4. The ability to walk to the beach, and the magic of the creek and beach meeting were big joys for us. It felt good to stay in a place that was built so intentionally, soulfully.

Casa Lapa is truly a gem and Steve is an amazing host! The beautiful construction is amazing and the pictures do not do it justice. We loved the proximity to the beach and being close enough to walk the beach to Olga's (craft beer festival while we were visiting!)but far enough away that the bustling "night life" wasn't distracting. The location is peaceful if you don't mind being woken up by howler monkeys and macaws...which is part of the Costa Rica experience! Being end of the road is fantastic because dust really is an issue during the dry season. Steve was an amazing host and provided great directions that allowed us to find our way even in the dark. I will definitely plan to stay here again during future Nosara visits.

Steve’s compound of small (but perfectly sized for vacationing) hand built cabins are unique in Nosara. With so much development in the area being a cookie cutter faux luxury, the cabin felt real. Attention has been given to using natural materials, and respecting the natural surroundings. We visited in February of 2025, with our 3 year old and 8 year old, and had a fantastic time. The weather was perfect. The private walkway off the property directly to the best beach in town was something we used multiple times a day. Steve has the perfect set up for a family to use the beach, and the outdoor showers and plunge pool were a welcome way to get the sand off of everyone. I can’t stress enough how great the beach is, with gentle surf at low tide, tidal pools full of life, soft inviting sand, and for a bit more adventure, hike the beach north to caves in the cliffs. There are also restaurants directly accessible off the beach, just south, meaning you can spend an entire day without shoes.

What a lovely spot! We really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, beach and local restaurants. Steve was super responsive to our (few) questions and had great local recommendations. Thanks for a great stay!
