A restored 3-bedroom colonial villa with a courtyard fountain, gourmet kitchen, and rooftop jacuzzi overlooking the mountains. Steps from the Jardín, restaurants, and Centro’s landmarks in San Miguel de Allende.
The Space
Welcome to Colonial Gem, a beautifully restored three-bedroom Mexican colonial home in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Located between the Rosewood Hotel and the main square, the house is just steps from the Jardín, restaurants, and everything Centro has to offer.
This heritage-quality home combines original colonial character with modern comfort. After a day of exploring, relax in the central courtyard beside the tranquil fountain, prepare a meal in the gourmet kitchen, or unwind on the peaceful rooftop terrace with a four-person jacuzzi and views toward the distant mountains.
House Details
- The home is arranged across three stories.
- Sound-dampening windows help reduce most street noise during downtown weekend events.
- As this is a colonial home, it may take a few minutes for hot water to reach the shower.
- San Miguel’s water has a high calcium content, so the jacuzzi has some mineral buildup. Enjoy the sunset views from the jacuzzi.
- A guidebook is provided with tips for food lovers and recommendations for places to explore off the beaten track.
- Martina comes on Wednesdays for a quick cleaning and to take out the trash.
- Although not included in the rental rate, Martina offers daily maid service and breakfast preparation for $500 pesos per day. These services can be arranged directly with her according to your needs.
- Martina’s additional services are optional if you prefer privacy.
- The minimum stay is four days.

What a beautiful home in a fantastic location. Just like the reviews stated, better than the photos. Make sure you request breakfast with the gracious Martina. What a wonderful experience each morning! If you haven’t been to San Miguel before then you need to understand that staying in the Centro can be noisy. It’s part of the charm. You might hear a few fireworks or people laughing late at night. It’s ok, just go back to sleep and don’t worry about it. We will definitely stay here again Viviana! Thanks

We were scheduled to arrive a little earlier than normal check-in, and since the home was unoccupied the day prior, the host accommodated an early check in and had the maid meet us to let us in. The place was clean and in a good location - only a few walkable blocks from the main square. In fact, we were able to walk everywhere we needed to go except for the winery tour (45 minute drive). As the host noted on the post, it’s in a busy area, so it can be a little noisy with traffic and pedestrians……but that was ok with us especially since she addressed it upfront on her ad. Martina was the maid who would stop by as needed, and for 500 pesos per day she would make a full Mexican breakfast, then stay and do a light cleaning. We used her every other day and she was a wonderful lady. She also went to the grocery store to get things we needed. The place is a very short walk to the Rosewood Hotel and many restaurants, shops, galleries, etc. Be prepared to walk a LOT……it’s hilly!

What a wonderful place to escape. It is tranquil, beautiful & so peaceful. The attention to detail was amazing, I love the decorations & the open roof with the ability to close it was perfect. Two outside areas to watch the sunrise & sunset. I can’t wait to go back & stay here again! It was perfect ! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely home.

The house is located in a quiet street, although is very close to all the places you will like to go at walking distance. The arrangement we had that included breakfast and cleaning was very helpful and delicious, although you have to pay more for it, but is worth it. The feature to open and close the roof works perfect and gives the house fresh air when needed or kept it warm if desired. We had a wonderful time there and will repeat if we need to go to San Miguel again.

This home is exactly what we were looking for in San Miguel de Allende. It is a short walk from the Centro Plaza and many excellent restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely charming house that exudes traditional San Miguel design. Fabulous location that is walkable to everything. Worked well for a group of 3 couples. Please note that two of the bedrooms are two single beds, which is the only downside of the house but all bathrooms are en suite. Very well appointed kitchen. Really enjoyed leisurely breakfasts in the patio. Highly recommend!

This is one of the loveliest places we’ve stayed. The photos do not do it justice. This beautiful, colonial home is exquisitely appointed. There are gorgeous details throughout from artwork to furnishings. The stunning plant-filled atrium (with retractable roof) fills the home with natural light and warmth. The location on a quiet street, is perfect with easy access to all neighborhoods in SM. Ten minute walk to Centro, San Antonio and 20 minute stroll to Fabrica la Aurora... The kitchen is well stocked should you want to prepare meals at home. We enjoyed the two terraces very much, both with excellent views. We watched sunsets from the west-facing almost every evening of our month-long stay. However we did find the terrace furniture a little uncomfortable. This is an old home and we did experience some plumbing issues. The owner was responsive and problems were fixed. We would recommend new towels, softer mattresses and pillows. The housekeeper Martina is pleasant and helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at Viviana's place. 10/10. The home is beautiful, the location perfect. Martina was a highlight for us, so sweet and such a great cook. We had an amazing time in San Miguel and would stay again when in the area.
