Beach and Wildlife
Howler monkeys can often be heard in the mornings. At low tide, the entire two-mile stretch of beach is easy to explore on foot while searching for wildlife.
- Mid-tide: Waves are well suited to beginners and children.
- High tide: Conditions are ideal for more experienced surfers.
Paddleboards, sea kayaks, and surfboards can be rented for enjoying the water. From June through August, whales can often be seen breaching in the bay. Between September and November, sea turtles are frequently found in the water or nesting on the beach.

OMG, what a place! Beautiful house with a fantastic outside space, including a fabulous pool, wonderful exotic planting and right on the beach. Inside, the bedrooms and bathrooms are hotel standard and the air conditioning is very welcome especially at night. The location is fantastic and it’s a short walk along the beach to all the restaurants and bars. The house is totally peaceful and you wake up to the sound of the waves. The hosts are super responsive and extremely helpful. I’d stay again in a heartbeat!

We had an exceptional stay in Playa Venao. Our host was very responsive and helped us with a few random questions we had. The power frequently goes out in the area, so the generator was a blessing. Most of the time I didn’t even notice we had lost power, outside of hearing the gen running. The house is perfect for two families of four. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and a single bedroom if one brought a teenager or +one who wanted their own space. The pool was perfect, the kids loved it and the beach was great for a bunch of beginner surfers. Boards to rent were $20/day in town. We grilled out and enjoyed the sunset and a full moon each night. The kids were in tears when the trip ended. Special thanks to Charlie for being so attentive and making our trip one to remember.
