The Space

Casa La Serena is a stylish and private two-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home in Balcones de Majagual, San Juan del Sur. The property features ocean and jungle views, a private pool, 200-megabit fiber-optic internet, and a recently renovated pool.

The primary bedroom has a treehouse-like feel, while the lower-level bedroom includes a full-size convertible bed, private bathroom, picture window, and wooden desk. This space is suitable for two couples or a family with older children.

The kitchen, dining area, and pool area connect seamlessly and can be opened to create a spacious social setting. Although the home shows some age, it remains comfortable and inviting, surrounded by tropical forest filled with wildlife.

Location

Casa La Serena is located in the boutique seaside community of Balcones de Majagual, approximately a 15–20-minute walk from the ocean. Guests may wake to birdsong, surf, and the calls of howler monkeys, which are often heard and sometimes seen.

The home is close to three of Nicaragua’s best surfing and swimming beaches, including:

Food and beverages at the club are not included in the booking price.

Power and Generator Information

The home has electric hot water and a backup generator. During power outages, the generator operates the fans and refrigerator only. Hot water and the pool pump will not function during an outage.

Battery power is limited, and prolonged outages may occur without a refund.

Important Information

A four-wheel-drive vehicle is required to access and stay at Casa La Serena. This requirement is not optional, and assistance with booking a vehicle is available at a discounted rate.

The home faces south and has wide-open views, which can make it quite warm in the afternoons during March and April, particularly in the main living area and primary bedroom. Guests who are sensitive to heat should take this into consideration.

The coastal highway near the home is currently under construction and is visible from the property. Daytime construction activity and occasional machinery or truck noise may be noticeable as the area continues to develop.

Airport Access

Guests can fly into either Liberia, Costa Rica, or Managua, Nicaragua. Travel time to the home is approximately two hours from either airport.
